Judges 17

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 In the highlands of Ephraim there was a man cal ed Micayehu.	1 Il y avait un homme de la montagne d'Ephraïm appelé Mikayehu.
2 He said to his mother, 'The eleven hundred silver shekels which were taken from you and concerningwhich you uttered a curse, having said in my hearing . . . Look, I have got that silver. I was the one who took it.'His mother said, 'May Yahweh bless my boy!'	2 Il dit à sa mère: "Les 1.100 sicles d'argent qu'on t'avait pris, et au sujet desquels tu avais prononcéune malédiction -- et même tu m'avais dit... eh bien, cet argent, le voici, c'est moi qui l'avais pris." Sa mère dit:"Que mon fils soit béni de Yahvé!"
3 He gave the eleven hundred shekels back to his mother, who said, 'I have indeed vowed to give thissilver to Yahweh for my son, to have a statue carved and an idol cast in metal, but now I should like to give itback to you.' He, however, returned the money to his mother.	3 Il rendit les 1.100 sicles à sa mère, qui dit: "J'avais bien voué cet argent à Yahvé, de ma propre main,pour mon fils, pour faire une image taillée et une idole de métal fondu, mais maintenant je veux te le rendre."Mais il rendit l'argent à sa mère.
4 His mother then took two hundred silver shekels and gave them to the metalworker. With them, hecarved a statue (and cast an idol in metal) which was put in Micayehu's house.	4 Alors sa mère prit 200 sicles d'argent et les remit au fondeur. Celui-ci en fit une image taillée (et uneidole de métal fondu) qui fut placée dans la maison de Mikayehu.
5 This man Micah owned a shrine; he made an ephod and some domestic images, and instal ed one ofhis sons to be his priest.	5 Cet homme, Mika, avait une maison de Dieu; il fit un éphod et des téraphim, et il donna l'investitureà l'un de ses fils qui devint son prêtre.
6 In those days there was no king in Israel, and everyone did as he saw fit.	6 En ce temps-là il n'y avait pas de roi en Israël et chacun faisait ce qui lui plaisait.
7 There was a young man of Bethlehem in Judah, of the clan of Judah, who was a Levite and residedthere as a stranger.	7 Il y avait un jeune homme de Bethléem en Juda, du clan de Juda, qui était lévite et résidait là commeétranger.
8 This man left the town of Bethlehem in Judah to settle wherever he could find a home. On his travelshe came to the highlands of Ephraim and to Micah's house.	8 Cet homme quitta la ville de Bethléem en Juda, pour aller s'établir là où il pourrait. Au cours de sonvoyage, il arriva dans la montagne d'Ephraïm à la maison de Mika.
9 Micah asked him, 'Where do you come from?' The other replied, 'I am a Levite from Bethlehem inJudah. I am travel ing, and am going to settle wherever I can find a home.'	9 Mika lui demanda: "D'où viens-tu" -- "Je suis lévite de Bethléem en Juda, lui répondit l'autre. Jevoyage afin de m'établir là où je pourrai" --
10 Micah said to him, 'Stay here with me; be my father and priest and I shal give you ten silver shekelsa year, and clothing and food.'	10 "Fixe-toi chez moi, lui dit Mika, sois pour moi un père et un prêtre et je te donnerai dix siclesd'argent par an, l'habillement et la nourriture."
11 The Levite agreed to remain in the man's house, and the young man became like one of his sons tohim.	11 Le lévite consentit à se fixer chez cet homme et le jeune homme fut pour lui comme l'un de ses fils.
12 Micah installed the Levite; the young man became Micah's priest and stayed in his house.	12 Mika donna l'investiture au lévite; le jeune homme devint son prêtre et il demeura dans la maisonde Mika.
13 And Micah said, 'Now I know that Yahweh will treat me wel , since I have this Levite as priest.'	13 "Et maintenant, dit Mika, je sais que Yahvé me fera du bien, puisque j'ai ce lévite pour prêtre."
