2 Corinthians 7

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Since these promises have been made to us, my dear friends, we should wash ourselves clean ofeverything that pol utes either body or spirit, bringing our sanctification to completion in the fear of God.	1 Ya que poseemos estas promesas, queridos hermanos, purifiquémonos de todo lo que mancha el cuerpo o el espíritu, llevando a término la obra de nuestra santificación en el temor de Dios.
2 Keep a place for us in your hearts. We have not injured anyone, or ruined anyone, or taken advantageof anyone.	2 Háganme un lugar en sus corazones. Nosotros no hemos perjudicado ni arruinado ni explotado a nadie.
3 I am not saying this to condemn anybody; as I have already told you, you are in our hearts -- so thattogether we live and together we die.	3 No digo esto para condenarlos: como ya les dije, ustedes están en mi corazón, unidos en la vida y en la muerte.
4 I can speak with the greatest frankness to you; and I can speak with the greatest pride about you: in alour hardship, I am fil ed with encouragement and overflowing with joy.	4 Yo siempre les hablo con toda franqueza y tengo sobrados motivos para gloriarme de ustedes. Esto me llena de consuelo y me da una inmensa alegría en medio de todas las tribulaciones.
5 Even after we had come to Macedonia, there was no rest for this body of ours. Far from it; we werebeset by hardship on al sides, there were quarrels all around us and misgivings within us.	5 Cuando llegamos a Macedonia, no tuvimos descanso. De todas partes nos acosaban las tribulaciones: luchas por fuera y temores por dentro.
6 But God, who encourages al those who are distressed, encouraged us through the arrival of Titus;	6 Pero Dios, que consuela a los afligidos, nos consoló con la llegada de Tito,
7 and not simply by his arrival only, but also by means of the encouragement that you had given him, ashe told us of your desire to see us, how sorry you were and how concerned for us; so that I was al the morejoyful.	7 y no sólo con su llegada, sino también con el consuelo que ustedes le prodigaron. El nos habló del profundo afecto, del dolor y de la preocupación que ustedes sienten por mí, con lo cual me alegré más todavía.
8 So now, though I did distress you with my letter, I do not regret it. Even if I did regret it -- and I realisethat the letter distressed you, even though not for long-	8 Porque, si bien es verdad que los entristecí con mi carta, no me lamento de haberlo hecho. Si antes lo lamenté –al saber que aquella carta, aunque sólo fuera momentáneamente, los entristeció–
9 I am glad now, not because you were made to feel distress, but because the distress that you werecaused led to repentance; your distress was the kind that God approves and so you have come to no kind ofharm through us.	9 ahora me regocijo, no porque ustedes se hayan puesto tristes, sino porque esa tristeza fue motivo de arrepentimiento. Ustedes, en efecto, han experimentado la tristeza que proviene de Dios, de manera que nosotros no les hemos hecho ningún daño.
10 For to be distressed in a way that God approves leads to repentance and then to salvation with noregrets; it is the world's kind of distress that ends in death.	10 Esa tristeza produce un arrepentimiento que lleva a la salvación y no se debe lamentar; en cambio, la tristeza del mundo produce la muerte.
11 Just look at this present case: at what the result has been of your being made to feel distress in theway that God approves -- what concern, what defence, what indignation and what alarm; what yearning, andwhat enthusiasm, and what justice done. In every way you have cleared yourselves of blame in this matter.	11 Fíjense bien lo que ha producido en ustedes la tristeza que proviene de Dios. ¡Cuánta solicitud! ¿Qué digo? ¡Cuántas excusas! ¡Qué indignación! ¡Qué temor! ¡Cuántos deseos ardientes! ¡Qué preocupación! ¡Qué castigo ejemplar! De todas las maneras posibles, ustedes han demostrado que son inocentes en este asunto.
12 So although I wrote a letter to you, it was not for the sake of the offender, nor for the one offended, butonly so that you yourselves should fully realise in the sight of God what concern you have for us.	12 En realidad, yo no les escribí a causa del ofensor, ni siquiera a causa del ofendido, sino para que se ponga de manifiesto, delante de Dios, la solicitud que ustedes tienen por nosotros.
13 That is what I have found encouraging. In addition to all this to encourage us, we were made al themore joyful by Titus' joy, now that his spirit has been refreshed by you al .	13 Esto nos ha servido de consuelo; y a este consuelo personal, se agregó una alegría mucho mayor todavía: la de ver el gozo de Tito, después que fue tranquilizado por ustedes.
14 And if I boasted about you to him in any way, then I have not been made to look foolish; indeed, ourboast to Titus has been proved to be as true as anything we said to you.	14 Y si delante de él me glorié un poco de ustedes, no me avergüenzo de ello. Todo lo contrario, de la misma manera que siempre les he dicho la verdad, también en esta ocasión se comprobó que era legítimo el orgullo que sentí por ustedes delante de Tito.
15 His personal affection for you is all the stronger when he remembers how obedient you have all been,and how you welcomed him with fear and trembling.	15 Y el afecto que él les tiene se acrecienta cuando recuerda la obediencia, el respeto y la reverencia con que lo recibieron.
16 I am glad that I have every confidence in you.	16 Por eso me alegro de poder confiar plenamente en ustedes.
