2 Corinthians 10

1 I urge you by the gentleness and forbearance of Christ -- this is Paul now speaking personal y-I, theone who is so humble when he is facing you but ful of boldness at a distance.	1 E io medesimo Paulo prego voi, per la mansuetudine e per la benignità di Cristo, il quale certamente in faccia son umile davanti da voi, e non presente confidomi in voi.
2 Yes, my appeal to you is that I should not have to be bold when I am actual y with you, or show thesame self-assurance as I reckon to use when I am chal enging those who reckon that we are guided by humanmotives.	2 Ma vi prego, chè io presente non ardisco, per quella confidanza che io mi penso d'ardire in alquanti, li quali pensano che noi andiamo secondo la carne.
3 For although we are human, it is not by human methods that we do battle.	3 Imperò che andando in carne, non combattiamo secondo la carne.
4 The weapons with which we do battle are not those of human nature, but they have the power, inGod's cause, to demolish fortresses. It is ideas that we demolish,	4 Ma certo l'arme del nostro combattimento non son carnali, ma sono potenza di Dio a distruggimento de' nemici; e siamo distruggitori de' malvagi consigli (del corpo),
5 every presumptuous notion that is set up against the knowledge of God, and we bring every thoughtinto captivity and obedience to Christ;	5 e d'ogni altezza che si leva (in superbia e) contro la scienza di Dio, recando in cattività ogni intelletto al servizio di Cristo.
6 once you have given your complete obedience, we are prepared to punish any disobedience.	6 E siamo (inanimati e) pronti per vendicare ogni inobbedienza, quando sarà compiuta la vostra obbedienza.
7 Look at the evidence of your eyes. Anybody who is convinced that he belongs to Christ should go onto reflect that we belong to Christ no less than he does.	7 Vedete quelle cose che sono secondo faccia. Se alcuno si pensa d' essere di Cristo, queste cose pensi appo sè; chè secondo ch' egli è di Cristo, così siamo ancora noi.
8 Maybe I have taken rather too much pride in our authority, but the Lord gave us that for building youup, not for knocking you down, and I am not going to be shamed	8 Ma se alcuna cosa più che io non debbia mi son gloriato della signoria, la qual ci diede il Signore per edificamento, e non per distruggimento vostro, non me ne vergognerò.
9 into letting you think that I can put fear into you only by letter.	9 Adunque, imperò che io non voglio che altri pensi che io vi voglia spaventare (e impaurire) con mie epistole;
10 Someone said, 'His letters are weighty enough, and ful of strength, but when you see him in person,he makes no impression and his powers of speaking are negligible.'	10 chè certo le epistole, dicono alquanti intra noi, son gravi e forti; ma la presenza del (suo) corpo è debile, la e (sua) parola è contendibile (e da nulla);
11 I should like that sort of person to take note that our deeds when we are present wil show the samequalities as our letters when we were at a distance.	11 or si pensino questi, che sì dicono, che tali quali noi siamo di lungi con parole nell' epistole, altrettali saremo a loro presenti col fatto.
12 We are not venturing to rank ourselves, or even to compare ourselves with certain people whoprovide their own commendations. By measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves tothemselves, they only show their fol y.	12 Chè certo noi non avemo ardire d' agguagliarci a molti li quali lodano sè medesimi; ma noi, misurando noi medesimi, agguagliamo noi a noi.
13 By contrast we do not intend to boast beyond measure, but wil measure ourselves by the standardwhich God laid down for us, namely that of having come al the way to you.	13 E ancora noi (se avanziamo in grandezza) [non ci glorieremo] oltra misura, ma secondo la misura della regola la qual Dio ha ordinata in noi, misura di potere venire (e durare) insino alla fine di voi.
14 We are not overreaching ourselves as we would be if we had not come all the way to you; in fact wewere the first to come as far as you with the good news of Christ.	14 E non ci soprastendiamo noi, secondo che quelli che non ci vergogniamo; a voi noi veramente venimmo con l' evangelio di Cristo.
15 So we are not boasting beyond measure, about other men's work; in fact, we hope, as your faithincreases, to grow greater and greater by this standard of ours,	15 Chè noi non siamo vantatori in grandezza con l'altrui fatica; ma avemo speranza nella fede vostra che cresce, e d' essere pagati secondo la d'essere nostra regola in abbondanza,
16 by preaching the gospel to regions beyond you, rather than boasting about work already done insomeone else's province.	16 in quelle cose che son oltra di voi evangelizzanti; e non in aliena regola, in quelle cose che son apparecchiate, ci dobbiamo gloriare.
17 Let anyone who wants to boast, boast of the Lord.	17 Quelli che si vanta (e che si prega), in Dio si vanti.
18 For it is not through self-commendation that recognition is won, but through commendation.	18 Chè non è lodato quello che si loda; ma quello è lodato, il quale loda il Signore.
