2 Corinthians 10

1 I urge you by the gentleness and forbearance of Christ -- this is Paul now speaking personal y-I, theone who is so humble when he is facing you but ful of boldness at a distance.	1 - Or io stesso Paolo, vi esorto per la mansuetudine e mitezza di Cristo, io che di presenza fra voi sono così umile, e assente poi sono sì ardito con voi,
2 Yes, my appeal to you is that I should not have to be bold when I am actual y with you, or show thesame self-assurance as I reckon to use when I am chal enging those who reckon that we are guided by humanmotives.	2 vi prego di far in modo che io non debba, venendo, farmi forte di quella franchezza della quale si crede che io sia audace, contro quelli che fan conto di noi come gente che vive secondo la carne.
3 For although we are human, it is not by human methods that we do battle.	3 Giacchè pur vivendo nella carne non militiamo però secondo la carne;
4 The weapons with which we do battle are not those of human nature, but they have the power, inGod's cause, to demolish fortresses. It is ideas that we demolish,	4 poichè le armi della nostra milizia non sono carnali, ma potenti in Dio a distruggere anche delle fortezze, distruggendo noi i falsi ragionamenti
5 every presumptuous notion that is set up against the knowledge of God, and we bring every thoughtinto captivity and obedience to Christ;	5 e ogni rocca elevata contro la conoscenza di Dio, e facendo schiava ogni intelligenza all'obbedienza di Cristo;
6 once you have given your complete obedience, we are prepared to punish any disobedience.	6 avendo in pronto anche il punire ogni disobbedienza quando la vostra obbedienza non sia completa.
7 Look at the evidence of your eyes. Anybody who is convinced that he belongs to Christ should go onto reflect that we belong to Christ no less than he does.	7 Voi badate a quello che è l'apparenza delle cose. Se uno confida in sè d'essere di Cristo, questo di nuovo entro di sè rifletta, che com'è di Cristo lui, così anche noi.
8 Maybe I have taken rather too much pride in our authority, but the Lord gave us that for building youup, not for knocking you down, and I am not going to be shamed	8 Poichè se anche mi vantassi un po' di più della podestà nostra che il Signore ci diede, a edificazione vostra, e non a rovina, non avrei da vergognarmene;
9 into letting you think that I can put fear into you only by letter.	9 che non abbia a sembrare ch'io vi voglia intimidire con le lettere.
10 Someone said, 'His letters are weighty enough, and ful of strength, but when you see him in person,he makes no impression and his powers of speaking are negligible.'	10 Le sue lettere, dice taluno, sono gravi e forti, ma la presenza di persona è debole, e la parola non val nulla.
11 I should like that sort of person to take note that our deeds when we are present wil show the samequalities as our letters when we were at a distance.	11 Chi dice così rifletta, che quali siamo assenti colla parola per mezzo delle lettere, tali siamo presenti coll'opera.
12 We are not venturing to rank ourselves, or even to compare ourselves with certain people whoprovide their own commendations. By measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves tothemselves, they only show their fol y.	12 Non abbiamo certo il coraggio di metterci nel novero o di paragonarci ad alcuno di quelli che mettono avanti se stessi, ma misuriamo noi stessi in noi stessi, e paragoniamo noi a noi stessi;
13 By contrast we do not intend to boast beyond measure, but wil measure ourselves by the standardwhich God laid down for us, namely that of having come al the way to you.	13 noi non ci vanteremo senza misura, ma staremo alla misura di quel limite di cui Iddio ci ha fatto parte sì da giungere fino anche a voi.
14 We are not overreaching ourselves as we would be if we had not come all the way to you; in fact wewere the first to come as far as you with the good news of Christ.	14 Poichè noi non è che ci arroghiamo troppo, come sarebbe se non fossimo arrivati sino a voi, perchè sino a voi siam venuti nel predicare l'evangelo di Cristo;
15 So we are not boasting beyond measure, about other men's work; in fact, we hope, as your faithincreases, to grow greater and greater by this standard of ours,	15 non ci vantiamo fuor di luogo in fatiche altrui, e nutriamo speranza che crescendo la fede vostra in noi, il nostro campo d'azione potrà essere ingrandito secondo il limite nostro largamente,
16 by preaching the gospel to regions beyond you, rather than boasting about work already done insomeone else's province.	16 sino a evangelizzare anche luoghi posti oltre i vostri confini, senza però invadere limiti altrui, sì da menar vanto di cose già apparecchiate da altri.
17 Let anyone who wants to boast, boast of the Lord.	17 E chi si vanta, nel Signore si vanti,
18 For it is not through self-commendation that recognition is won, but through commendation.	18 giacchè non colui che raccomanda se stesso è approvato, ma quegli cui raccomanda il Signore.
