1 Is one of you with a complaint against another so brazen as to seek judgement from sinners and notfrom God's holy people?	1 Atreve-se algum de vós, tendo litígio contra outro, ir a juízo perante os injustos e não perante os santos?
2 Do you not realise that the holy people of God are to be the judges of the world? And if the world is tobe judged by you, are you not competent for petty cases?	2 Porventura não sabeis que os santos (em virtude da sua união com Jesus) hão-de julgar este mundo? E, se o mundo há-de ser julgado por vós, sois porventura indignos de julgar as coisas mínimas?
3 Do you not realise that we shal be the judges of angels? - then quite certainly over matters of this life.	3 Não sabeis que havemos de julgar os anjos? Quanto mais as coisas desta vida?
4 But when you have matters of this life to be judged, you bring them before those who are of no accountin the Church!	4 Portanto, se tiverdes litígios por tais coisas, estabelecei para as julgar os que são menos considerados na Igreja.
5 I say this to make you ashamed of yourselves. Can it real y be that it is impossible to find in thecommunity one sensible person capable of deciding questions between brothers,	5 Digo isto para confusão vossa. É possível que não haja entre vós um homem sábio, que possa julgar entre seus irmãos?
6 and that this is why brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers?	6 Mas o que se vê é que um irmão litiga com outro irmão, e isto perante (tribunais dos) infiéis!
7 No; it is a fault in you, by itself, that one of you should go to law against another at al : why do you notprefer to suffer injustice, why not prefer to be defrauded?	7 É já, absolutamente, uma falta da vossa parte o haver entre vós pleitos. Por que não sofreis antes a injúria? Por que não tolerais antes o dano?
8 And here you are, doing the injustice and the defrauding, and to your own brothers.	8 Mas sois vós mesmos que fazeis injúria e causais dano; e isto a irmãos.
9 Do you not realise that people who do evil wil never inherit the kingdom of God? Make no mistake --the sexual y immoral, idolaters, adulterers, the self-indulgent, sodomites,	9 Porventura não sabeis que os injustos não possuirão o reino de Deus? Não vos enganeis: nem os impudicos, nem os idólatras, nem os adúlteros, nem os efeminados, nem os sodomitas,
10 thieves, misers, drunkards, slanderers and swindlers, none of these wil inherit the kingdom of God.	10 nem os ladrões, nem os avarentos, nem os que se dão à embriaguez, nem os maldizentes, nem os salteadores possuirão o reino de Deus.
11 Some of you used to be of that kind: but you have been washed clean, you have been sanctified, andyou have been justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and through the Spirit of our God.	11 E tais éreis alguns de vós, mas fostes lavados, mas fostes santificados, mas fostes justificados, em nome de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e mediante o Espírito do nosso Deus.
12 'For me everything is permissible'; maybe, but not everything does good. True, for me everything ispermissible, but I am determined not to be dominated by anything.	12 "Tudo me é permitido" — mas nem tudo convém. "Tudo me é permitido" — mas eu de nada me farei escravo.
13 Foods are for the stomach, and the stomach is for foods; and God wil destroy them both. But thebody is not for sexual immorality;	13 Os alimentos são para o ventre, e o ventre para os alimentos; mas Deus destruirá tanto aquele como estes; porém o corpo não é para a fornicação, mas para o Senhor, e o Senhor para o corpo.
14 it is for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. God raised up the Lord and he will raise us up too by hispower.	14 Ora Deus, que ressuscitou o Senhor, também nos ressuscitará a nós com o seu poder.
15 Do you not realise that your bodies are members of Christ's body; do you think one can take parts ofChrist's body and join them to the body of a prostitute? Out of the question!	15 Não sabeis que os vossos corpos são membros de Cristo? Tomarei eu, pois, os membros de Cristo e fá-los-ei membros de uma prostituta? De modo nenhum.
16 Or do you not realise that anyone who attaches himself to a prostitute is one body with her, since thetwo, as it is said, become one flesh.	16 Não sabeis que o que se junta com uma prostituta, torna-se um mesmo corpo com ela? Porque foi dito: Serão os dois uma só carne (Gn. 2, 24).
17 But anyone who attaches himself to the Lord is one spirit with him.	17 Ao contrário, o que está unido ao Senhor é um só espírito com ele.
18 Keep away from sexual immorality. Al other sins that people may commit are done outside the body;but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.	18 Fugi da fornicação. Qualquer pecado que o homem comete, é fora do corpo; mas o que comete fornicação, peca contra o próprio corpo.
19 Do you not realise that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you and whom youreceived from God?	19 Porventura não sabeis que os vossos membros são templo do Espírito Santo, que habita em vós, que vos foi dado por Deus, e que não pertenceis a vós mesmos ?
20 You are not your own property, then; you have been bought at a price. So use your body for the gloryof God.	20 Porque fostes comprados por um grande preço. Glorificai, pois, a Deus no vosso corpo.
