1 Corinthians 10

1 I want you to be quite certain, brothers, that our ancestors al had the cloud over them and al passedthrough the sea.	1 Ihr sollt wissen, Brüder, dass unsere Väter alle unter der Wolke waren, alle durch das Meer zogen
2 In the cloud and in the sea they were all baptised into Moses;	2 und alle auf Mose getauft wurden in der Wolke und im Meer.
3 al ate the same spiritual food	3 Alle aßen auch die gleiche gottgeschenkte Speise
4 and al drank the same spiritual drink, since they drank from the spiritual rock which fol owed them,and that rock was Christ.	4 und alle tranken den gleichen gottgeschenkten Trank; denn sie tranken aus dem Leben spendenden Felsen, der mit ihnen zog. Und dieser Fels war Christus.
5 In spite of this, God was not pleased with most of them, and their corpses were scattered over thedesert.	5 Gott aber hatte an den meisten von ihnen kein Gefallen; denn er ließ sie in der Wüste umkommen.
6 Now these happenings were examples, for our benefit, so that we should never set our hearts, as theydid, on evil things;	6 Das aber geschah als warnendes Beispiel für uns: damit wir uns nicht von der Gier nach dem Bösen beherrschen lassen, wie jene sich von der Gier beherrschen ließen.
7 nor are you to worship false gods, as some of them did, as it says in scripture: The people sat down toeat and drink, and afterwards got up to amuse themselves.	7 Werdet nicht Götzendiener wie einige von ihnen; denn es steht in der Schrift: Das Volk setzte sich zum Essen und Trinken; dann standen sie auf, um sich zu vergnügen.
8 Nor, again, are we to fall into sexual immorality; some of them did this, and twenty-three thousand mettheir downfal in one day.	8 Lasst uns nicht Unzucht treiben, wie einige von ihnen Unzucht trieben. Damals kamen an einem einzigen Tag dreiundzwanzigtausend Menschen um.
9 And we are not to put the Lord to the test; some of them put him to the test, and they were killed bysnakes.	9 Wir wollen auch nicht den Herrn auf die Probe stellen, wie es einige von ihnen taten, die dann von Schlangen getötet wurden.
10 Never complain; some of them complained, and they were killed by the Destroyer.	10 Murrt auch nicht, wie einige von ihnen murrten; sie wurden vom Verderber umgebracht.
11 Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were described in writing to bea lesson for us, to whom it has fallen to live in the last days of the ages.	11 Das aber geschah an ihnen, damit es uns als Beispiel dient; uns zur Warnung wurde es aufgeschrieben, uns, die das Ende der Zeiten erreicht hat.
12 Everyone, no matter how firmly he thinks he is standing, must be careful he does not fall.	12 Wer also zu stehen meint, der gebe Acht, dass er nicht fällt.
13 None of the trials which have come upon you is more than a human being can stand. You can trustthat God wil not let you be put to the test beyond your strength, but with any trial will also provide a way out byenabling you to put up with it.	13 Noch ist keine Versuchung über euch gekommen, die den Menschen überfordert. Gott ist treu; er wird nicht zulassen, dass ihr über eure Kraft hinaus versucht werdet. Er wird euch in der Versuchung einen Ausweg schaffen, sodass ihr sie bestehen könnt.
14 For that reason, my dear friends, have nothing to do with the worship of false gods.	14 Darum, liebe Brüder, meidet den Götzendienst!
15 I am talking to you as sensible people; weigh up for yourselves what I have to say.	15 Ich rede doch zu verständigen Menschen; urteilt selbst über das, was ich sage.
16 The blessing-cup, which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ; and the loaf of bread which we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?	16 Ist der Kelch des Segens, über den wir den Segen sprechen, nicht Teilhabe am Blut Christi? Ist das Brot, das wir brechen, nicht Teilhabe am Leib Christi?
17 And as there is one loaf, so we, although there are many of us, are one single body, for we all sharein the one loaf.	17 Ein Brot ist es. Darum sind wir viele ein Leib; denn wir alle haben teil an dem einen Brot.
18 Now compare the natural people of Israel: is it not true that those who eat the sacrifices share thealtar?	18 Schaut auf das irdische Israel: Haben die, welche von den Opfern essen, nicht teil am Altar?
19 What does this mean? That the dedication of food to false gods amounts to anything? Or that falsegods themselves amount to anything?	19 Was meine ich damit? Ist denn Götzenopferfleisch wirklich etwas? Oder ist ein Götze wirklich etwas?
20 No, it does not; simply that when pagans sacrifice, what is sacrificed by them is sacrificed to demonswho are not God. I do not want you to share with demons.	20 Nein, aber was man dort opfert, opfert man nicht Gott, sondern den Dämonen. Ich will jedoch nicht, dass ihr euch mit Dämonen einlasst.
21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons as wel ; you cannot have a share at theLord's table and the demons' table as wel .	21 Ihr könnt nicht den Kelch des Herrn trinken und den Kelch der Dämonen. Ihr könnt nicht Gäste sein am Tisch des Herrn und am Tisch der Dämonen.
22 Do we real y want to arouse the Lord's jealousy; are we stronger than he is?	22 Oder wollen wir die Eifersucht des Herrn wecken ? Sind wir stärker als er?
23 'Everything is permissible'; maybe so, but not everything does good. True, everything is permissible,but not everything builds people up.	23 «Alles ist erlaubt» - aber nicht alles nützt. «Alles ist erlaubt» - aber nicht alles baut auf.
24 Nobody should be looking for selfish advantage, but everybody for someone else's.	24 Denkt dabei nicht an euch selbst, sondern an die anderen.
25 Eat anything that is sold in butchers' shops; there is no need to ask questions for conscience's sake,	25 Alles, was auf dem Fleischmarkt verkauft wird, das esst, ohne aus Gewissenhaftigkeit nachzuforschen.
26 since To the Lord belong the earth and all it contains.	26 Denn dem Herrn gehört die Erde und was sie erfüllt.
27 If an unbeliever invites you to a meal, go if you want to, and eat whatever is put before you; you neednot ask questions of conscience first.	27 Wenn ein Ungläubiger euch einlädt und ihr hingehen möchtet, dann esst, was euch vorgesetzt wird, ohne aus Gewissensgründen nachzuforschen.
28 But if someone says to you, 'This food has been offered in sacrifice,' do not eat it, out ofconsideration for the person that told you, for conscience's sake-	28 Wenn euch aber jemand darauf hinweist: Das ist Opferfleisch!, dann esst nicht davon, mit Rücksicht auf den, der euch aufmerksam macht, und auf das Gewissen;
29 not your own conscience, I mean, but the other person's. Why should my freedom be governed bysomebody else's conscience?	29 ich meine das Gewissen des anderen, nicht das eigene; denn (an sich gilt): Warum soll meine Freiheit vom Gewissensurteil eines anderen abhängig sein?
30 Provided that I accept it with gratitude, why should I be blamed for eating food for which I givethanks?	30 Wenn ich in Dankbarkeit mitesse, soll ich dann getadelt werden, dass ich etwas esse, wofür ich Dank sage?
31 Whatever you eat, then, or drink, and whatever else you do, do it al for the glory of God.	31 Ob ihr also esst oder trinkt oder etwas anderes tut: Tut alles zur Verherrlichung Gottes!
32 Never be a cause of offence, either to Jews or to Greeks or to the Church of God,	32 Gebt weder Juden noch Griechen, noch der Kirche Gottes Anlass zu einem Vorwurf!
33 just as I try to accommodate everybody in everything, not looking for my own advantage, but for theadvantage of everybody else, so that they may be saved.	33 Auch ich suche allen in allem entgegenzukommen; ich suche nicht meinen Nutzen, sondern den Nutzen aller, damit sie gerettet werden.
