Deuteronomy 19

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 'When Yahweh your God has annihilated the nations whose country Yahweh your God is going to giveyou, and you have dispossessed them and are living in their towns and in their houses,	1 Quando il Signore Dio tuo avrà distrutte le genti delle quali sta per darti la terra, quando tu la possederai e ne abiterai le città e le case,
2 you must set aside three towns, central y placed in the country which Yahweh your God is giving youfor your own.	2 fisserai tre città nel mezzo del paese che il Signore Dio tuo ti darà in possesso,
3 You wil keep the approaches to them in good order, dividing the area of the country which Yahwehyour God is giving you as your heritage, into three parts, so that any kil er can flee to these towns.	3 ne appianerai con cura le strade, e dividerai in tre parti uguali tutta l'estensione della tua terra, affinchè l'omicida abbia vicino nove poter scampare,
4 Here is an example of how someone may save his life by fleeing to them. 'If anyone has struck hisfel ow accidental y, without any previous feud with him	4 Questa sarà la legge riguardo all'omicida che fugge per aver salva la vita: chi avrà percosso il suo prossimo per caso, ed è provato che per l'addietro non ebbe alcun odio contro di lui,
5 (for example, he goes with his fel ow into the forest to cut wood; his arm swings the axe to fel a tree;the head slips off the handle and strikes his companion dead), that man may take refuge in one of these townsand save his life.	5 come se ad uno che va con Un altro nel bosco a tagliar legna, nel tagliarle gli sfugge di mano la scure, e il ferro, uscendo dal manico, va a percuotere e ad uccidere il suo amico, questi si rifugerà in una delle dette città e sarà salvo.
6 It must not be allowed that the avenger of blood, in the heat of his anger, should pursue the kil er andthat the length of the road should help him to overtake and wound him fatal y; for the man has not deserved todie, having had no previous feud with his victim.	6 E perchè per disgrazia non avvenga che un parente dell'ucciso, stimolato dal dolore, nell'inseguirlo lo raggiunga, essendo lungo il cammino, e uccida uno che non è reo di morte, perchè è provato che non l'aveva prima alcun odio contro l'ucciso,
7 'Hence I am giving you this order: You must set aside three towns,	7 per questo io ti comando di porre queste tre città ad ugual distanza tra di loro.
8 and if Yahweh your God enlarges your territory, as he swore to your ancestors that he would, andgives you the whole country which he promised to give to your ancestors-	8 Quando poi il Signore Dio tuo avrà allargati i tuoi confini, come giurò ai tuoi padri, e ti avrà data tutta la terra che loro promise,
9 provided that you keep and observe al the commandments which I am enjoining on you today, lovingYahweh your God and always following his ways-then, to those three towns you wil add three more.	9 (se però osserverai i suoi comandamenti e farai quello che oggi io ti prescrivo, amando il Signore Dio tuo e camminando sempre nelle sue vie) ti aggiungerai altre tre città alle tre sopradette;
10 In this way, innocent blood will not be shed in the country which Yahweh your God is going to giveyou as your heritage; otherwise you would incur blood-guilt.	10 affinchè non sia sparso del sangue innocente nella terra che il Signore Dio tuo ti darà in possesso, e tu i non sia reo di sangue.
11 'But if it happens that a man has a feud with his fel ow and lies in wait for him and attacks him andfatal y wounds him and he dies, and the man takes refuge in one of these towns,	11 Ma se uno, portando odio al suo prossimo, gli tende insidie, l'assale e lo percuote da farlo morire, se si sarà rifugiato in una delle sopradette città,
12 the elders of his own town must send there and have him taken and handed over to the avenger ofblood, to be put to death.	12 gli anziani della sua città lo faran togliere dal luogo del rifugio, lo daranno in mano del parente dell'ucciso, e così morirà.
13 You must show him no pity. You must banish the shedding of innocent blood from Israel, and thenyou wil prosper.	13 Non aver compassione di lui: togli da Israele il reato del sangue innocente se vuoi aver del bene.
14 'You must not displace your neighbour's boundary mark, positioned by men of old in the heritagesoon to be yours, in the country which Yahweh your God is about to give you.	14 Non moverai, nè trasporterai i termini del tuo prossimo, posti dai tuoi antenati nei tuoi possessi che il Signore Dio tuo ti darà nella terra che dovrai possedere.
15 'A single witness wil not suffice to convict anyone of a crime or offence of any kind; whatever themisdemeanour, the evidence of two witnesses or three is required to sustain the charge.	15 Un solo testimonio non sarà sufficiente contro nessuno, qualunque ne sia il peccato o il delitto; ma tutto sarà stabilito sulla parola di due o tre testimoni.
16 'If someone gives false evidence against anyone, laying a charge of apostasy,	16 Quando un falso testimonio si presenta contro un altro uomo e l'accusa di prevaricazione,
17 both parties to this dispute before Yahweh must appear before the priests and judges then in office.	17 ambedue i contendenti si presenteranno davanti al Signore, nel cospetto dei sacerdoti e dei giudici che saranno in quel tempo;
18 The judges wil make a careful enquiry, and if it turns out that the witness is a liar and has made a false accusation against his brother,	18 e quando questi, fatto diligentissimo esame, trovino che il falso testimonio ha detto contro del suo fratello una menzogna,
19 you must treat the witness as he would have treated his brother. You must banish this evil fromamong you.	19 faranno a lui ciò che voleva fare al suo fratello. Così toglierai il male di mezzo a te,
20 The rest, hearing of this, wil be afraid and never again do such an evil thing among you.	20 e gli altri, sentendo questo, ne avran timore e non ardiranno mai commettere di tali cose.
21 You must show no pity. 'Life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.'	21 Non avrai compassione di lui, ma esigerai vita per vita, occhio per occhio, dente per dente, mano per mano, piede per piede.
