Deuteronomy 18

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'The levitical priests, the whole tribe of Levi wil be without share or heritage of their own in Israel; theywil live on the foods offered to Yahweh and on his heritage.	1 Los sacerdotes levitas –o sea, toda la tribu de Levi– no tendrán parte ni herencia con los israelitas: ellos se alimentarán de las ofrendas destinadas a los sacrificios y de la herencia del Señor.
2 Levi wil have no heritage of his own among his brothers; Yahweh will be his heritage, as he haspromised him.	2 Por lo tanto, esta tribu no poseerá una herencia en medio de sus hermanos: su herencia es el Señor, como él mismo se lo ha declarado.
3 'This is what is due to the priests from the people, from those who offer an ox or a sheep in sacrifice:the priest must be given the shoulder, the cheeks and the stomach.	3 Los derechos de los sacerdotes sobre las personas que ofrecen en sacrificio un animal del ganado mayor o menor son los siguientes: se dará al sacerdote la espalda, las quijadas y el estómago.
4 You must give him the first-fruits of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, as wel as the first-fruits of your sheep-shearing.	4 También le darás las primicias de tu trigo, de tu vino y de tu aceite, y las primicias de la esquila de tu ganado menor.
5 For Yahweh your God has chosen him from all your tribes to stand before Yahweh your God, to do theduties of the sacred ministry, and to bless in Yahweh's name -- him and his sons for al time.	5 Porque el Señor, tu Dios, eligió al sacerdote y a sus hijos, entre todas tus tribus, para que siempre estuviera en su presencia y oficiara en nombre del Señor.
6 'If a Levite living in one of your towns anywhere in Israel decides to move to the place chosen byYahweh,	6 Si un levita que reside en cualquier parte del Israel, se traslada por voluntad propia de una de tus ciudades al lugar que elija el Señor, su Dios,
7 he shal minister there in the name of Yahweh his God like al his fel ow Levites who stand ministering there in the presence of Yahweh,	7 podrá oficiar allí en nombre del Señor como todos sus hermanos levitas que están en la presencia del Señor.
8 eating equal shares with them -- what he has from the sale of his patrimony notwithstanding.	8 Y comerá una porción igual a la de ellos además de lo que obtenga por la venta de sus bienes patrimoniales.
9 'When you have entered the country given you by Yahweh your God, you must not learn to imitate thedetestable practices of the nations there already.	9 Cuando entre en la tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te dará, no aprendas a practicar las abominaciones que cometen esas naciones.
10 There must never be anyone among you who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire ofsacrifice, who practises divination, who is soothsayer, augur or sorcerer,	10 Que no haya entre ustedes nadie que inmole en el fuego a su hijo o a su hija, ni practique la adivinación, la astrología, la magia o la hechicería.
11 weaver of spells, consulter of ghosts or mediums, or necromancer.	11 Tampoco hará ningún encantador, ni consultor de espectros o de espíritus, ni evocador de muertos.
12 For anyone who does these things is detestable to Yahweh your God; it is because of thesedetestable practices that Yahweh your God is driving out these nations before you.	12 Porque todo el que practica estas cosas es abominable al Señor, tu Dios, y por causa de estas abominaciones. él desposeerá a esos pueblos delante de ti.
13 'You must be faultless in your relationship with Yahweh your God.	13 Tú serás irreprochable en tu trato con el Señor, tu Dios.
14 For these nations whom you are going to dispossess have listened to soothsayers and mediums, butYahweh your God does not permit you to do this. From among yourselves, from among your own brothers,	14 Porque las naciones que vas a desposeer escuchan a los astrólogos y adivinos, pero a ti el Señor no te permite semejante cosa.
15 Yahweh your God will raise up a prophet like me; you wil listen to him.	15 El Señor, tu Dios, te suscitará un profeta como yo; lo harás surgir de entre ustedes, de entre tus hermanos, y es a él a quien escucharán.
16 This is exactly what you asked Yahweh your God to do -- at Horeb, on the day of the Assembly,when you said, "Never let me hear the voice of Yahweh my God or see this great fire again, or I shal die."	16 Esto es precisamente lo que pediste al Señor. Tu Dios, en el Horeb, el día de la asamblea, cuando dijiste: «No quiero seguir escuchando la voz del Señor, mi Dios, ni miraré más este gran fuego, porque de lo contrario moriré».
17 Then Yahweh said to me,	17 Entonces el Señor me dijo: «Lo que acaban de decir está muy bien.
18 "What they have said is wel said. From their own brothers I shal raise up a prophet like yourself;	18 Por eso, suscitaré entre sus hermanos un profeta semejante a ti, pondré mis palabras en su boca, y él dirá todo lo que yo le ordene.
19 I shal put my words into his mouth and he wil tel them everything I command him. Anyone whorefuses to listen to my words, spoken by him in my name, wil have to render an account to me.	19 Al que no escuche mis palabras, las que este profeta pronuncie en mi Nombre, yo mismo le pediré cuenta.
20 But the prophet who presumes to say something in my name which I have not commanded him tosay, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die."	20 Y si un profeta se atreve a pronunciar en mi Nombre una palabra que yo no le he ordenado decir, o si habla en nombre de otros dioses, ese profeta morirá».
21 'You may be privately wondering, "How are we to tel that a prophecy does not come from Yahweh?"	21 Tal vez te preguntes: «¿Cómo sabremos que tal palabra no la ha pronunciado el Señor?».
22 When a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh and the thing does not happen and the word is notfulfil ed, then it has not been said by Yahweh. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. You have nothing tofear from him.'	22 Si lo que el profeta decide en nombre del Señor no se cumple y queda sin efecto, quiere decir que el Señor no ha dicho esa palabra. El profeta ha hablado temerariamente: no le temas.
