Luke 11

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Now it happened that he was in a certain place praying, and when he had finished, one of his disciplessaid, 'Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.'	1 E avvenne che mentre egli stava in un luogo a pregare, quando ebbe finito, uno dei suoi discepoli gli disse: Signore, insegnaci a pregare, come anche Giovanni ha insegnato ai suoidiscepoli.
2 He said to them, 'When you pray, this is what to say: Father, may your name be held holy, yourkingdom come;	2 E disse loro: Quando pregate, dite: Padre, sia santifi­cato il tuo nome, venga il tuo re­gno.
3 give us each day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins,	3 Dacci oggi il nostro pane quotidiano
4 for we ourselves forgive each one who is in debt to us. And do not put us to the test.'	4 e rimettici i nostri peccati, chè anche noi li rimettiamo ad ogni nostro debitore; e non c'indurre in tentazione.
5 He also said to them, 'Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him in the middle of the night tosay, "My friend, lend me three loaves,	5 Inoltre disse loro: Se uno di voi ha un amico, e va da lui a mezzanotte a dirgli: Amico, prestami tre pani,
6 because a friend of mine on his travels has just arrived at my house and I have nothing to offer him;"	6 perché un amico mio è arrivato di viaggio in casa mia e non ho che porgli davanti.
7 and the man answers from inside the house, "Do not bother me. The door is bolted now, and mychildren are with me in bed; I cannot get up to give it to you."	7 E quello di dentro, rispondendo, dica: Non mi dar noia; l'uscio è già chiuso od i miei figlioli sono con me a letto: e non posso levarmi e darteli!
8 I tel you, if the man does not get up and give it to him for friendship's sake, persistence wil make himget up and give his friend al he wants.	8 Ma se l'altro seguiterà a picchiare, vi assicuro, che quand'anche non si levasse a darglieli perchè suo amico, pure per l'importunità di lui si leverà a dargliene, quanti ne ha bisogno.
9 'So I say to you: Ask, and it wil be given to you; search, and you wil find; knock, and the door wil beopened to you.	9 Ed io vi dico: chiedete e vi sarà dato; cercate e troverete; picchiate e vi sarà aperto.
10 For everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks wil have thedoor opened.	10 Infatti chi chiede riceve, chi cerca trova, e a chi picchia sarà aperto.
11 What father among you, if his son asked for a fish, would hand him a snake?	11 E se alcuno tra voi domanda al padre un pane, gli darà forse un sasso? se un pesce, gli darà invece un serpente?
12 Or if he asked for an egg, hand him a scorpion?	12 E se chiede un uovo gli darà uno scorpione?
13 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more wil theheavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!'	13 Se voi dunque pur essendo cattivi, sapete dar buoni doni ai vostri figlioli, quanto più il vostro Padre dal cielo darà Spirito buono a chi glielo domanda.
14 He was driving out a devil and it was dumb; and it happened that when the devil had gone out thedumb man spoke, and the people were amazed.	14 E stava scacciando un demonio che era muto. E cacciato il demonio, il muto parlò e ne stupirono le turbe.
15 But some of them said, 'It is through Beelzebul, the prince of devils, that he drives devils out.'	15 Ma alcuni dissero: Egli scaccia i demoni in nomo di Balzebub, principe dei demoni.
16 Others asked him, as a test, for a sign from heaven;	16 Ed altri, per metterlo alla prova, gli chiedevano un segno dal cielo.
17 but, knowing what they were thinking, he said to them, 'Any kingdom which is divided against itself isheading for ruin, and house col apses against house.	17 Ma egli, conosciuti i loro pensieri, disse loro: Ogni regno in se stesso diviso andrà in rovina e una casa cadrà sull'altra.
18 So, too, with Satan: if he is divided against himself, how can his kingdom last? - since you claim thatit is through Beelzebul that I drive devils out.	18 Or, siccome dite che scaccio i demoni in nome di Belzebub, se anche Satana è discorde in se stesso, come reggerà il suo regno?
19 Now if it is through Beelzebul that I drive devils out, through whom do your own sons drive them out?They shall be your judges, then.	19 E se io scaccio i demoni per Belzebùb, in nome di chi li scacciano i vostri figli? Per questo i medesimi saranno i vostri giudici.
20 But if it is through the finger of God that I drive devils out, then the kingdom of God has indeed caughtyou unawares.	20 Ma se col dito di Dio io scaccio i demoni, certo il regno di Dio è giunto fino a voi.
21 So long as a strong man fully armed guards his own home, his goods are undisturbed;	21 Quando il forte guarda in armi l'atrio è in sicuro tutto quanto possiede.
22 but when someone stronger than himself attacks and defeats him, the stronger man takes away allthe weapons he relied on and shares out his spoil.	22 Ma se viene uno più forte di lui e lo vince, gli toglie tutte le armi nelle quali confidava e ne divide le spoglie.
23 'Anyone who is not with me is against me; and anyone who does not gather in with me throws away.	23 Chi non è con me, è contro di me, e chi non raccoglie meco, disperde.
24 'When an unclean spirit goes out of someone it wanders through waterless country looking for aplace to rest, and not finding one it says, "I wil go back to the home I came from."	24 Quando lo spirito immondo e uscito da un uomo, va per luoghi aridi cercando riposo e, non trovandolo, dice: Ritornerò a casa mia da cui sono uscito.
25 But on arrival, finding it swept and tidied,	25 Quando vi giunge, la trova spazzata e adorna.
26 it then goes off and brings seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and set uphouse there, and so that person ends up worse off than before.'	26 Allora va e prende seco altri sette spiriti peggiori di lui ed entrati ci si stabiliscono. E l'ultima condizione di quell'uomo è peggiore della prima.
27 It happened that as he was speaking, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, 'Blessed thewomb that bore you and the breasts that fed you!'	27 Or avvenne che, mentre egli diceva queste cose, una donna, alzando la voce in mezzo alla folla, gli disse: Beato il seno che t'ha portato, e il petto che hai succhiato.
28 But he replied, 'More blessed stil are those who hear the word of God and keep it!'	28 Ed egli aggiunse: Beati piuttosto quelli che ascoltano la parola di Dio e la mettono in pratica.
29 The crowds got even bigger and he addressed them, 'This is an evil generation; it is asking for a sign.The only sign it wil be given is the sign of Jonah.	29 E, affollandosi le turbe attorno a lui, prese a dire: Questa generazione è una generazione malvagia: chiede un segno, e non le sarà dato che il segno di Giona profeta.
30 For just as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so wil the Son of man be a sign to thisgeneration.	30 Infatti, come Giona fu un segno per i Niniviti, così anche il Figlio dell'uomo sarà per questa generazione.
31 On Judgement Day the Queen of the South will stand up against the people of this generation and betheir condemnation, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, look,there is something greater than Solomon here.	31 La Regina del mezzodì sorgerà nel giorno del giudizio contro gli uomini di questa generazione e li condannerà; perchè venne dagli estremi confini della terra per udir la sapienza di Salomone, ed ecco qui uno che è da più di Salomone.
32 On Judgement Day the men of Nineveh wil appear against this generation and be its condemnation,because when Jonah preached they repented; and, look, there is something greater than Jonah here.	32 I Niniviti si leveranno nel giudizio contro questa generazione e la condanneranno, perchè fecero penitenza alla predicazione di Giona, ed ecco qui uno che è da più di Giona.
33 'No one lights a lamp and puts it in some hidden place or under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand so that people may see the light when they come in.	33 Nessuno, acceso un lume, lo mette in luogo nascosto o sotto il moggio; ma sul candeliere, affinchè chi entra vegga luce.
34 The lamp of the body is your eye. When your eye is clear, your whole body, too, is fil ed with light; butwhen it is diseased your body, too, wil be darkened.	34 Lume del tuo corpo è il tuo occhio. Se l'occhio tuo è puro, sarà lucente tutto il tuo corpo; se poi è guasto, anche la tua persona sarà nelle tenebre.
35 See to it then that the light inside you is not darkness.	35 Bada dunque che la luce che è m te non sia buio.
36 If, therefore, your whole body is fil ed with light, and not darkened at all, it wil be light entirely, aswhen the lamp shines on you with its rays.'	36 Se dunque tutto il tuo corpo sarà lucente senza alcuna parte d'oscuro, il tutto sarà luminoso come quando il lume col suo fulgore ti rischiara.
37 He had just finished speaking when a Pharisee invited him to dine at his house. He went in and satdown at table.	37 Or mentre parlava, un Fariseo lo invitò a desinare da lui. Ed egli, entrato, si mise a tavola.
38 The Pharisee saw this and was surprised that he had not first washed before the meal.	38 E il Fariseo cominciò a riflettere dentro di sè come mai egli non si fosse lavato avanti desinare.
39 But the Lord said to him, 'You Pharisees! You clean the outside of cup and plate, while insideyourselves you are fil ed with extortion and wickedness.	39 Ma il Signore gli disse: Voi altri Farisei lavate il di fuori del bicchiere e del piatto, ma il vostro interno è pieno di rapina e d'iniquità.
40 Fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside too?	40 Stolti, chi ha fatto il di fuori non ha fatto anche il di dentro?
41 Instead, give alms from what you have and, look, everything wil be clean for you.	41 Fate piuttosto elemosina di quanto v'avanza, ed ecco tutto sarà puro per voi.
42 But alas for you Pharisees, because you pay your tithe of mint and rue and al sorts of garden herbsand neglect justice and the love of God! These you should have practised, without neglecting the others.	42 Ma guai a voi, Farisei, che pagate la decima della menta, della ruta e di ogni erbaggio, e poi trascurate la giustizia e l'amor di Dio. Queste cose bisogna farle, ma senza ometter le altre.
43 Alas for you Pharisees, because you like to take the seats of honour in the synagogues and to begreeted respectful y in the market squares!	43 Guai a voi, Farisei, perchè amate i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe e i saluti nelle piazze.
44 Alas for you, because you are like the unmarked tombs that people walk on without knowing it!'	44 Guai a voi, perchè siete come i sepolcri che non si vedono e chi vi passa su non ne sa niente.
45 A lawyer then spoke up. 'Master,' he said, 'when you speak like this you insult us too.'	45 Allora uno dei dottori della legge prese a dirgli: Maestro, parlando così tu offendi anche noi. Ed egli aggiunse:
46 But he said, 'Alas for you lawyers as wel , because you load on people burdens that are unendurable,burdens that you yourselves do not touch with your fingertips.	46 Guai anche a voi, dottori della legge, perchè caricate la gente di pesi insopportabili che voi non toccate neppure con un dito.
47 'Alas for you because you build tombs for the prophets, the people your ancestors kil ed!	47 Guai a voi, che che ideate sepolcri ai profeti, mentre i padri vostri li uccisero.
48 In this way you both witness to what your ancestors did and approve it; they did the killing, you do thebuilding.	48 Voi dunque attestate di approvare le opere dei padri, perchè essi li uccisero e voi loro edificate dei sepolcri.
49 'And that is why the Wisdom of God said, "I wil send them prophets and apostles; some they willslaughter and persecute,	49 Per questo la sapienza di Dio ha detto: Manderò loro dei profeti e degli apostoli, e ne uccideranno alcuni e ne perseguiteranno altri
50 so that this generation wil have to answer for every prophet's blood that has been shed since thefoundation of the world,	50 affinchè a questa nazione sia chiesto conto del suo sangue di tutti i profeti, sparso dalla creazione del mondo ad oggi:
51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the Temple."Yes, I tel you, this generation wil have to answer for it all.	51 dal sangue di Abele al sangue di Zaccaria, ucciso fra il tempio e l'altare. Sì, vi dico, nè sarà chiesto conto a questa generazione.
52 'Alas for you lawyers who have taken away the key of knowledge! You have not gone in yourselvesand have prevented others from going in who wanted to.'	52 Guai a voi, dottori della legge, che vi siete usurpata la chiava della scienza, e non siete entrati voi ed avete impedito a chi cercava di entrare.
53 When he left there, the scribes and the Pharisees began a furious attack on him and tried to forceanswers from him on innumerable questions,	53 E mentre loro diceva tali cose, cominciarono i Farisei e i dottori della legge ad opporglisi accanitamente, e ad opprimerlo con molte questioni,
54 lying in wait to catch him out in something he might say.	54 tendendogli insidie e cercando di cavargli di bocca qualche cosa per accusarlo.
