1 Moses told the Israelites exactly what Yahweh had ordered him.	1 Moïse rapporta aux Israélites tout ce que Yahvé lui avait ordonné.
2 Moses spoke to the tribal leaders of the Israelites and said, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered:	2 Moïse parla aux chefs des tribus d’Israël: “Voici, dit-il, ce que Yahvé ordonne:
3 "If a man makes a vow to Yahweh or a formal pledge under oath, he must not break his word:whatever he promises by word of mouth he must do.	3 Si quelqu’un a fait un vœu à Yahvé, s’il a fait un serment et s’est imposé à lui-même une obligation, il ne violera pas son serment: il accomplira exactement ce qu’il a dit.
4 "If a woman makes a vow to Yahweh or a formal pledge during her youth, while she is stil in her father's house,	4 Mais voici le cas d’une jeune fille qui habite dans la maison de son père: elle a fait un vœu à Yahvé et s’est imposé à elle-même une obligation.
5 and if her father hears about this vow or pledge made by her and says nothing to her, her vow,whatever it may be, will be binding, and the pledge she has taken, whatever it may be, will be binding.	5 Si son père ne dit rien lorsqu’il apprend son vœu et l’obligation qu’elle s’est imposée, ce vœu et cette obligation gardent toute leur valeur.
6 But if her father on the day he learns of it expresses his disapproval of it, then none of the vows orpledges she has taken wil be binding. Yahweh will not hold her to it, since her father has expressed hisdisapproval.	6 Mais si son père n’est pas d’accord lorsqu’il est mis au courant, elle est quitte de son vœu et de l’obligation qu’elle s’est imposée. Yahvé lui pardonnera puisque c’est son père qui n’est pas d’accord.
7 "If, being bound by vows or by a pledge voiced without due reflection, she then marries,	7 Autre cas: une femme qui a fait un vœu ou qui s’est engagée par une parole imprudente vient à se marier.
8 and if her husband hears of it but says nothing on the day he learns of it, her vows wil be binding andthe pledges she has taken will be binding.	8 Si son mari apprenant la chose ne dit rien, son vœu et l’obligation qu’elle s’est imposée gardent toute leur valeur.
9 But if on the day he learns of it he expresses his disapproval to her, this wil annul the vow that shehas made or the pledge that binds her, voiced without due reflection. Yahweh wil not hold her to it.	9 Mais si le mari désapprouve sa femme le jour où il est mis au courant, il casse par là même le vœu qui la liait et la parole imprudente par laquelle elle s’était engagée. Dans ce cas Yahvé lui pardonnera.
10 "The vow of a widow or a divorced woman and al pledges taken by her are binding on her.	10 Une veuve ou une femme répudiée est liée par le vœu qu’elle a fait: son vœu garde toute sa valeur.
11 "If she has made a vow or taken a pledge under oath while in her husband's house,	11 Autre cas: une femme fait un vœu ou s’impose par serment une obligation alors qu’elle vit dans la maison de son mari.
12 and if when the husband learns of it he says nothing to her and does not express disapproval to her,then the vow, whatever it is, wil be binding, and the pledge, whatever it is, will be binding.	12 Si son mari ne dit rien le jour où il l’apprend, c’est qu’il ne la désapprouve pas. Dans ce cas son vœu et l’obligation qu’elle s’est imposée ont toute leur valeur.
13 But if the husband when he hears of it annuls it on the day he learns of it, no undertaking of hers, beit vow or pledge, will be binding. Since the husband has annul ed it, Yahweh wil not hold her to it.	13 Mais si, le jour où le mari est mis au courant, il dit son désaccord, elle est quitte de sa parole et de son serment, de son vœu et de son obligation. Yahvé pardonnera à cette femme puisque c’est son mari qui les a désapprouvés.
14 "Every vow or oath that is binding on the wife may be endorsed or annul ed by the husband.	14 Tout vœu et toute obligation qu’elle s’est imposée pour se mortifier, c’est son mari qui l’approuve et c’est lui qui l’annule.
15 "If by the fol owing day the husband has said nothing to her, it means that he endorses her vow,whatever it may be, or her pledge, whatever it may be. He endorses them if he says nothing on the day helearns of them.	15 Si au fil des jours son mari continue de se taire, il approuve par là-même tous ses vœux et toutes les obligations qui lui incombent. Il les a confirmés par son silence, le jour où il les a appris.
16 But if, having learnt of them, he annuls them later, he wil bear the consequences for his wife's guilt."'	16 Mais s’il les annule alors qu’il les connaît depuis un certain temps, c’est lui qui portera le poids de la faute.”
17 Such were the laws which Yahweh prescribed to Moses, concerning the relationship between a manand his wife, and between a father and his daughter while stil young and living in her father's home.	17 Voilà toutes les prescriptions que Yahvé a ordonnées à Moïse au sujet de l’homme et de la femme, du père et de la fille qui, jeune encore, habite la maison de son père.
