1 Listen to this saying, you cows of Bashan living on the hil of Samaria, exploiting the weak and il -treating the poor, saying to your husbands, 'Bring us something to drink!'	1 Ascoltate questa parola, o vacche grasse che state sopra le montagne di Samaria, voi che opprimete i deboli, che schiacciate ì poveri, che dite ai vostri padroni: « Portate e noi berremo ».
2 The Lord God has sworn by his holiness: Look, the days wil soon be on you when he wil use hooks todrag you away and fish-hooks for the very last of you;	2 Il Signore Dio ha giurato per la sua santità: « Ecco vengono sopra di voi dei giorni in cui v'infilzeranno sugli spiedi, e ciò che resterà di voi sarà messo in caldaie bollenti.
3 through the breaches in the wal you wil leave, each one straight ahead, and be herded away towardsHermon -declares Yahweh.	3 E uscirete per le brecce, l'una addosso all'altra, e sarete gettati in Armon — dice il Signore.
4 Go to Bethel, and sin, to Gilgal, and sin even harder! Bring your sacrifices each morning, your tithesevery third day,	4 Andate a Betel ad agire empiamente, a Galgala a moltiplicare le prevaricazioni, portate nel mattino le vostre vittime, e le vostre decime nei tre giorni.
5 burn your thank-offering of leaven and widely publicise your free-wil offerings, for this, children ofIsrael, is what makes you happy -declares the Lord Yahweh.	5 E offrite col lievito dei sacrifizi di lode, annunziate delle oblazioni volontarie, pubblicatele; dacché a voi così piace, o figli d'Israele, — dice il Signore Dio.
6 I even gave you clean teeth in all your towns and a shortage of food in al your vil ages and stil youwould not come back to me -declares Yahweh.	6 Per questo io vi diedi l'allegamento dei denti in tutte le vostre città e la mancanza del pane in tutte le vostre dimore; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore Dio.
7 I even withheld the rain from you ful three months before harvest-time; I caused rain to fall in one townand caused no rain to fal in another; one field was rained on and the next for want of rain dried up;	7 E allora io impedii alla pioggia di venire a voi, quando mancavano ancora tre mesi alla mietitura, feci piovere sopra una città e sopra un'altra città non feci piovere: una parte era rinfrescata dalla pioggia, e l'altra, non avendo da me la pioggia, era riarsa.
8 two towns, three towns went tottering to one town for water to drink but went unsatisfied, and stil youwould not come back to me -declares Yahweh.	8 E due e tre città andarono ad un'altra città per bere l'acqua, e non si dissetarono: eppure voi non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.
9 I struck you with blight and mildew, I dried up your gardens and vineyards; the locust devoured your figtrees and olive trees and stil you would not come back to me -declares Yahweh.	9 Vi colpii col vento infocato e colla ruggine; i vostri numerosi giardini, le vostre vigne, i vostri uliveti, i vostri figli li ha divorati l'eruca; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.
10 I sent plague on you like Egypt's plague, I slaughtered your young men with the sword and at thesame time your horses were captured; I fil ed your nostrils with the stench of your camps and stil you would notcome back to me -declares Yahweh.	10 Io inviai in mezzo a voi la morte nella maniera dell'Egitto, feci perir sotto la spada la vostra gioventù, fino a far prendere i vostri stessi cavalli; e feci giungere alle vostre narici la putredine dei vostri accimpamenti; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.
11 I overturned you as God overturned Sodom and Gomorrah; you were like a brand snatched from theblaze and stil you would not come back to me -declares Yahweh.	11 Io vi ho distrutti, come Dio distrusse Sodoma e Gomorra, e voi siete diventati come un tizzone sottratto ad un incendio; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore.
12 So this, Israel, is what I plan to do to you. Because I am going to do this to you, Israel, prepare tomeet your God!	12 Per questo io ti farò queste cose, o Israele, e quando te le avrò fatte, preparati ad andare incentro al tuo Dio, o Israele.
13 For look, he it is who forges the mountains, creates the wind, who reveals his mind to humankind,changes the dawn into darkness and strides on the heights of the world: Yahweh, God Sabaoth, is his name.	13 Infatti Colui che forma le montagne, e crea i venti, e fa sentire agli uomini la sua parola, e produce la nebbia del mattino, e cammina sopra i luoghi piti alti della terra si chi ama il Signore Dio degli eserciti ».
