Ezekiel 5

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 'Son of man, take a sharp sword, use it like a barber's razor and run it over your head and beard. Thentake scales and divide the hair you have cut off.	1 Et tu, fili hominis, sume tibi gladium acutum, radentem pilos, et assumes eum et duces per caput tuum et per barbam tuam, et assumes tibi stateram ponderis et divides eos.
2 Burn one-third inside the city, while the days of the siege are working themselves out. Then takeanother third and chop it up with the sword all round the city. The last third you are to scatter to the wind, while Iunsheathe the sword behind them.	2 Tertiam partem igni combures in medio civitatis, juxta completionem dierum obsidionis, et assumes tertiam partem, et concides gladio in circuitu ejus : tertiam vero aliam disperges in ventum, et gladium nudabo post eos.
3 Also take a few hairs and tie them up in the folds of your cloak;	3 Et sumes inde parvum numerum, et ligabis eos in summitate pallii tui :
4 and of these again take a few, and throw them on the fire and burn them. From them fire will come onthe whole House of Israel.	4 et ex eis rursum tolles, et projicies eos in medio ignis, et combures eos igni, et ex eo egredietur ignis in omnem domum Israël.
5 'The Lord Yahweh says this, "This is Jerusalem, which I have placed in the middle of the nations,surrounded with foreign countries.	5 Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ista est Jerusalem : in medio gentium posui eam, et in circuitu ejus terras.
6 She has rebelled more perversely against my observances than the nations have, and against my lawsthan the surrounding countries have; for they have rejected my observances and not kept my laws."	6 Et contempsit judicia mea, ut plus esset impia quam gentes, et præcepta mea ultra quam terræ quæ in circuitu ejus sunt : judicia enim mea projecerunt, et in præceptis meis non ambulaverunt.
7 'Therefore, the Lord Yahweh says this, "Because your disorders are worse than those of the nationsround you, since you do not keep my laws or respect my observances, and since you do not respect even theobservances of the surrounding nations,	7 Idcirco hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Quia superastis gentes quæ in circuitu vestro sunt, et in præceptis meis non ambulastis, et judicia mea non fecistis, et juxta judicia gentium quæ in circuitu vestro sunt non estis operati,
8 very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: I, too, am against you and shal execute my judgements on youfor the nations to see.	8 ideo hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego ad te, et ipse ego faciam in medio tui judicia in oculis gentium :
9 Because of al your loathsome practices I shal do such things as I have never done before, nor shallever do again.	9 et faciam in te quod non feci, et quibus similia ultra non faciam, propter omnes abominationes tuas.
10 Those of you who are parents wil eat their children, and children wil eat their parents. I shall executejudgement on you and disperse what remains of you to the winds.	10 Ideo patres comedent filios in medio tui, et filii comedent patres suos : et faciam in te judicia, et ventilabo universas reliquias tuas in omnem ventum.
11 For, as I live -- declares Lord Yahweh -- as sure as you have defiled my sanctuary with al your horrorsand all your loathsome practices, so I too shal reject you without a glance of pity, I shal not spare you.	11 Idcirco vivo ego, dicit Dominus Deus, nisi pro eo quod sanctum meum violasti in omnibus offensionibus tuis et in cunctis abominationibus tuis, ego quoque confringam : et non parcet oculus meus, et non miserebor.
12 A third of your citizens wil die of plague or starve to death inside you; a third wil fall by the swordround you; and a third I shal scatter to the winds, unsheathing the sword behind them.	12 Tertia pars tui peste morietur, et fame consumetur in medio tui, et tertia pars tui in gladio cadet in circuitu tuo : tertiam vero partem tuam in omnem ventum dispergam, et gladium evaginabo post eos.
13 I shal sate my anger and bring my fury to rest on them until I am avenged; and when I have sated myfury on them, then they wil know that I, Yahweh, spoke out of jealousy for you.	13 Et complebo furorem meum, et requiescere faciam indignationem meam in eis, et consolabor : et scient quia ego Dominus locutus sum in zelo meo, cum implevero indignationem meam in eis.
14 Yes, I shal reduce you to a ruin, an object of derision to the surrounding nations, in the eyes of al whopass by.	14 Et dabo te in desertum, et in opprobrium gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt, in conspectu omnis prætereuntis :
15 You will be an object of derision and insults, an example, an object of amazement to the surroundingnations, when I execute judgement on you in furious anger and furious punishments. I, Yahweh, have spoken.	15 et eris opprobrium et blasphemia, exemplum et stupor in gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt, cum fecero in te judicia in furore, et in indignatione, et in increpationibus iræ.
16 On them I shal send the deadly arrows of famine, which wil destroy you -- for I shall send them todestroy you; then I shall make the famine worse and cut off your food supply.	16 Ego Dominus locutus sum : quando misero sagittas famis pessimas in eos, quæ erunt mortiferæ, et quas mittam ut disperdam vos : et famem congregabo super vos, et conteram in vobis baculum panis :
17 I shal send famine and wild animals on you to rob you of your children; plague and bloodshed wilsweep through you, and I shal bring the sword down on you. I, Yahweh, have spoken." '	17 et immittam in vos famem et bestias pessimas, usque ad internecionem : et pestilentia et sanguis transibunt per te, et gladium inducam super te. Ego Dominus locutus sum.
