Ezekiel 31

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 In the eleventh year, on the first day of the third month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows,	1 Nell'anno undecimo, il terzo mese, il primo del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
2 'Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and his throng of subjects: "What can compare with you forgreatness?	2 « Figlio dell'uomo, di' a Faraone, re di Egitto, e al suo popolo: A chi rassomigli nella tua grandezza?
3 I know: a cedar tree in the Lebanon with noble branches, dense foliage, lofty height. Its top pierces theclouds.	3 Ecco, Assur era come un cedro del Libano, con bei rami, con ombrose fronde, sublime d'altezza, e la, sua vetta s'innalzava tra i densi rami;
4 The waters have made it grow, the deep has made it tall, pouring its rivers round the place where it isplanted, sending rivulets to al the wild trees.	4 le acque l'avevano fatto crescere, l'abisso l'aveva fatto innalzare; i suoi fiumi correvano intorno alle sue radici, e mandava i suoi ruscelli a tutte le piante della regione.
5 This is why its height was greater than that of other wild trees, its branches increased in number, itsboughs stretched wide, because of the plentiful waters making it grow.	5 Per questo il suo fusto s'innalzò sopra tutti gli alberi della regione, le sue fronde si moltiplicarono, i suoi rami divennero alti a causa dell'abbondanza dell'acqua.
6 Al the birds of heaven nested in its branches; under its boughs all wild animals dropped their young; inits shade sat many, many people.	6 Avendo egli estesa la sua ombra, nei suoi rami fecero i nidi tutti gli uccelli del cielo, e sotto le sue fronde partorirono tutte le bestie della foresta, e sotto la sua ombra stavano accolte numerose nazioni.
7 It was beautiful in its size, in the span of its boughs; for its roots were in plentiful waters.	7 EgIi era bellissimo per la sua grandezza e per la ampiezza dei suoi rami; perchè le sue radici eran lungo le acque abbondanti.
8 There was no cedar like it in the garden of God, no cypress had branches such as these, no plane treecould match its boughs, no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.	8 Non ci furono cedri più alti di lui nel paradiso di Dio, non arrivarono alla sua altezza gli abeti e i platani non uguagliarono lo sue fronde; nessuna pianta del paradiso di Dio potè esser a lui simile nella bellezza.
9 I had made it so lovely with its many branches that it was the envy of every tree in Eden, in the gardenof God.	9 Perchè io l'avevo fatto così bello pei molti e densi rami, gli portarono invidia tutte le piante delle delizie che erano nel paradiso di Dio.
10 "Very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: "Since it has raised itself to its ful height, has lifted its top into the clouds, and has grown arrogant about its height,	10 Per questo, così parla il Signore Dio: Perchè egli s'è elevato in altezza ed ha alzata la sua verdeggiante e folta cima, e si è insuperbito il suo cuore per la sua altezza.
11 I have handed it over to the prince of the nations, for him to treat as its wickedness deserves; I haverejected it.	11 Io l'ho abbandonato nelle mani del più forte dei popoli che lo tratterà a suo talento: secondo la sua empietà io l'ho cacciato.
12 Foreigners, the most barbarous of nations, have cut it down and deserted it. On the mountains, in althe val eys, lie its branches; its broken boughs are in every ravine throughout the country; everybody in thecountry has fled its shade and deserted it.	12 E lo taglieranno gli stranieri, i più crudeli fra le nazioni, e lo getteran via, sulle montagne e in tutte le valli cadranno i suoi rami, e le sue fronde si spezzeranno in tutte le rupi della terra. E fuggiranno dalla sua ombra tutti i popoli della terra, e l'abbandoneranno.
13 On its wreckage perch al the birds of heaven; all the wild animals have advanced on its branches.	13 Sopra le sue rovine staranno gli uccelli del cielo, sopra i suoi rami riposeranno tutte le bestie della terra.
14 "So in future let no tree rear its height beside the waters, none push its top into the clouds, nowatered tree stretch its height towards them. For al of them are doomed to death, to the depths of theunderworld, with the common run of humanity, with those who sink into oblivion.	14 Così nessun albero piantato lungo le acque s'eleverà in altezza, non alzerà la sua cima tra rami densi e fronzuti, non resteranno nella loro altezza tutti quelli irrigati dalle acque, perchè tutti sono abbandonati alla morte nelle profondità della terra, in mezzo ai figli degli uomini, a quelli che discendono nella fossa.
15 "The Lord Yahweh says this: The day it went down to Sheol, I imposed mourning, I closed the deepover it. I stopped its rivers and the plentiful waters dried up; I made Lebanon dark because of it, and al the wildtrees wilted because of it.	15 Così parla il Signore Dio: Nel giorno in cui egli discese nell'inferno io presi il lutto e lo coprii coll'abisso; trattenni i suoi fiumi e feci arrestare le grandi acque, a causa di lui si rattristò il Libano e furono scossi tutti gli alberi della campagna.
16 With the noise when it fel I made the nations quake, as I hurled it down to Sheol, with those who sinkinto oblivion. In the depths of the underworld al the trees of Eden took comfort, the pick of the loveliest trees ofthe Lebanon, al irrigated by the waters.	16 Col fracasso della sua rovina feci tremare le nazioni, quando lo feci discendere nell'inferno con quelli che scendevano nella fossa, e si consolarono nella profondità della terra tutti gli alberi delle delizie, i più belli e magnifici del Tubano, tutti quelli innaffiati dalle acque.
17 And its offspring among the nations, once living in its shade, went down to Sheol with it, to those whohave been slaughtered by the sword.	17 Infatti anch'essi scenderanno nell'inferno tra gli uccisi dalla spada, e il braccio di ciascuno resterà sotto la sua ombra in mezzo allo nazioni.
18 "Which of the trees of Eden compares with you for glory and greatness? Yet you have been hurleddown with the trees of Eden, to the depths of the underworld, among the uncircumcised, and there you lie withthose who have been slaughtered by the sword. So much for Pharaoh and al his throng -- declares the LordYahweh." '	18 A chi rassomigli, o inclito e sublime tra gli alberi delle delizie? Ecco che colle piante dello delizie sei precipitato nel fondo della terra, e dormirai in mezzo agli incirconcisi, tra quelli uccisi dalla spada. Così sarà di Faraone e di tutto il suo popolo — dice il Signore Dio ».
