Ezekiel 31

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 In the eleventh year, on the first day of the third month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows,	1 El año undécimo, el día uno del tercer mes, la palabra de Yahveh me fue dirigida en estos términos:
2 'Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and his throng of subjects: "What can compare with you forgreatness?	2 Hijo de hombre, di a Faraón, rey de Egipto, y a la multitud de sus súbditos: ¿A quién compararte en tu grandeza?
3 I know: a cedar tree in the Lebanon with noble branches, dense foliage, lofty height. Its top pierces theclouds.	3 Mira: a un cedro del Líbano de espléndido ramaje, de fronda de amplia sombra y de elevada talla. Entre las nubes despuntaba su copa.
4 The waters have made it grow, the deep has made it tall, pouring its rivers round the place where it isplanted, sending rivulets to al the wild trees.	4 Las aguas le hicieron crecer, el abismo le hizo subir, derramando sus aguas en torno a su plantación, enviando sus acequias a todos los árboles del campo.
5 This is why its height was greater than that of other wild trees, its branches increased in number, itsboughs stretched wide, because of the plentiful waters making it grow.	5 Por eso su tronco superaba en altura a todos los árboles del campo, sus ramas se multiplicaban, se alargaba su ramaje, por la abundancia de agua que le hacía crecer.
6 Al the birds of heaven nested in its branches; under its boughs all wild animals dropped their young; inits shade sat many, many people.	6 En sus ramas anidaban todos los pájaros del cielo, bajo su fronda parían todas las bestias del campo, a su sombra se sentaban naciones numerosas.
7 It was beautiful in its size, in the span of its boughs; for its roots were in plentiful waters.	7 Era hermoso en su grandeza, en su despliegue de ramaje, porque sus raíces se alargaban hacia aguas abundantes.
8 There was no cedar like it in the garden of God, no cypress had branches such as these, no plane treecould match its boughs, no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.	8 No le igualaban los demás cedros en el jardín de Dios, los cipreses no podían competir con su ramaje, los plátanos no tenían ramas como las suyas. Ningún árbol, en el jardín de Dios, le igualaba en belleza.
9 I had made it so lovely with its many branches that it was the envy of every tree in Eden, in the gardenof God.	9 Yo le había embellecido con follaje abundante, y le envidiaban todos los árboles de Edén, los del jardín de Dios.
10 "Very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: "Since it has raised itself to its ful height, has lifted its top into the clouds, and has grown arrogant about its height,	10 Pues bien, así dice el Señor Yahveh: Por haber exagerado su talla, levantando su copa por entre las nubes, y haberse engreído su corazón de su altura,
11 I have handed it over to the prince of the nations, for him to treat as its wickedness deserves; I haverejected it.	11 yo le he entregado en manos del conductor de las naciones, para que le trate conforme a su maldad; ¡le he desechado!
12 Foreigners, the most barbarous of nations, have cut it down and deserted it. On the mountains, in althe val eys, lie its branches; its broken boughs are in every ravine throughout the country; everybody in thecountry has fled its shade and deserted it.	12 Extranjeros, los más báraros entre las naciones, lo han talado y lo han abandonado. En los montes y por todos los valles yace su ramaje; sus ramas están destrozadas por todos los barrancos del país; toda la población del país se ha retirado de su sombra y lo ha abandonado.
13 On its wreckage perch al the birds of heaven; all the wild animals have advanced on its branches.	13 Sobre sus despojos se han posado todos los pájaros del cielo, a sus ramas han venido todas las bestias del campo.
14 "So in future let no tree rear its height beside the waters, none push its top into the clouds, nowatered tree stretch its height towards them. For al of them are doomed to death, to the depths of theunderworld, with the common run of humanity, with those who sink into oblivion.	14 Ha sido para que ningún árbol plantado junto a las aguas se engría de su talla, ni levante su copa por entre las nubes, y para que ningún árbol bien regado se estire hacia ellas con su altura. ¡Porque todos ellos están destinados a la muerte, a los infiernos, como el común de los hombres, como los que bajan a la fosa!
15 "The Lord Yahweh says this: The day it went down to Sheol, I imposed mourning, I closed the deepover it. I stopped its rivers and the plentiful waters dried up; I made Lebanon dark because of it, and al the wildtrees wilted because of it.	15 Así dice el Señor Yahveh: El día que bajó al seol, en señal de duelo yo cerré sobre él el abismo, detuve sus ríos, y las aguas abundantes cesaron; por causa de él llené de sombra el Líbano, y todos los árboles del campo se amustiaron por él.
16 With the noise when it fel I made the nations quake, as I hurled it down to Sheol, with those who sinkinto oblivion. In the depths of the underworld al the trees of Eden took comfort, the pick of the loveliest trees ofthe Lebanon, al irrigated by the waters.	16 Hice temblar a las naciones por el estrépito de su caída, cuando le precipité en el seol, con los que bajan a la fosa. En los infiernos se consolaron todos los árboles de Edén, lo más selecto y más bello del Líbano, regados todos por las aguas.
17 And its offspring among the nations, once living in its shade, went down to Sheol with it, to those whohave been slaughtered by the sword.	17 Y al mismo tiempo que él, bajaron al seol, donde las víctimas de la espada, los que eran su brazo y moraban a su sombra en medio de las naciones.
18 "Which of the trees of Eden compares with you for glory and greatness? Yet you have been hurleddown with the trees of Eden, to the depths of the underworld, among the uncircumcised, and there you lie withthose who have been slaughtered by the sword. So much for Pharaoh and al his throng -- declares the LordYahweh." '	18 ¿A quién eras comparable en gloria y en grandeza, entre los árboles de Edén? Sin embargo has sido precipitado, con los árboles de Edén, en los infiernos; en medio de incircuncisos yaces, con las víctimas de la espada: ése es Faraón y toda su multitud, oráculo del Señor Yahveh.
