Ezekiel 31

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 In the eleventh year, on the first day of the third month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows,	1 No décimo primeiro ano, no primeiro dia do terceiro mês, a palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:
2 'Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and his throng of subjects: "What can compare with you forgreatness?	2 filho do homem, dize ao faraó, rei do Egito, e a seu povo numeroso: a quem te assemelhas, em tua grandeza?
3 I know: a cedar tree in the Lebanon with noble branches, dense foliage, lofty height. Its top pierces theclouds.	3 Eis {a Assíria}, é um cedro do Líbano, de magníficas ramagens, com espessa ramagem e elevada estatura, cujo cimo se alteia em meio às nuvens.
4 The waters have made it grow, the deep has made it tall, pouring its rivers round the place where it isplanted, sending rivulets to al the wild trees.	4 As águas fizeram-no crescer; o abismo fê-lo altear-se, dirigindo suas águas para onde ele estava plantado, e enviando seus regatos a todas as árvores da região.
5 This is why its height was greater than that of other wild trees, its branches increased in number, itsboughs stretched wide, because of the plentiful waters making it grow.	5 Dessa forma dominava ele todas as árvores dos campos; seus galhos se alongavam, sua ramagem se desenvolvia, graças à abundância das águas que o tinham feito crescer.
6 Al the birds of heaven nested in its branches; under its boughs all wild animals dropped their young; inits shade sat many, many people.	6 Em seus galhos se aninhavam todas as aves do céu. Sob seus ramos davam cria todos os animais dos campos à sua sombra descansava toda espécie de gente!
7 It was beautiful in its size, in the span of its boughs; for its roots were in plentiful waters.	7 Era belo por sua grandeza, pela extensão de seus galhos, porque suas raízes mergulhavam nas águas abundantes.
8 There was no cedar like it in the garden of God, no cypress had branches such as these, no plane treecould match its boughs, no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.	8 Nenhum cedro do jardim de Deus rivalizava com ele, os ciprestes não atingiam o talhe de seus ramos, e os plátanos não igualavam suas ramagens; nenhuma árvore do jardim de Deus se equiparava a ele em esplendor.
9 I had made it so lovely with its many branches that it was the envy of every tree in Eden, in the gardenof God.	9 Eu o havia dotado de tão luxuriante ramagem, que todas as árvores do Éden, jardim de Deus, dele tinham inveja.
10 "Very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: "Since it has raised itself to its ful height, has lifted its top into the clouds, and has grown arrogant about its height,	10 Por isso, eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: porque ele foi tão orgulhoso de seu porte, e ergueu o seu cimo até as nuvens, e o seu coração se ensoberbeceu devido à sua altitude,
11 I have handed it over to the prince of the nations, for him to treat as its wickedness deserves; I haverejected it.	11 entreguei-o nas mãos de um poderoso das nações, que o tratará como merece a sua malignidade, e o destruirá.
12 Foreigners, the most barbarous of nations, have cut it down and deserted it. On the mountains, in althe val eys, lie its branches; its broken boughs are in every ravine throughout the country; everybody in thecountry has fled its shade and deserted it.	12 Bárbaros, nação brutal entre todas, cortaram-no e o atiraram sobre as montanhas; seus ramos caíram em todos os vales, seus galhos quebrados juncam todas as torrentes da terra; todas as gentes da terra deixaram sua sombra e o abandonaram.
13 On its wreckage perch al the birds of heaven; all the wild animals have advanced on its branches.	13 Sobre seu tronco mutilado se abatem todas as aves do céu, e em seus ramos se acolhem todos os animais dos campos.
14 "So in future let no tree rear its height beside the waters, none push its top into the clouds, nowatered tree stretch its height towards them. For al of them are doomed to death, to the depths of theunderworld, with the common run of humanity, with those who sink into oblivion.	14 Tudo isso, a fim de que nenhuma árvore que cresce à borda das águas tenha orgulho de sua altura, e não eleve o cimo até as nuvens, e que nenhuma árvore bem regada pelas águas confie em sua estatura. Porque todas serão entregues à morte, votadas às moradas subterrâneas, em companhia do comum dos mortais que descem à fossa.
15 "The Lord Yahweh says this: The day it went down to Sheol, I imposed mourning, I closed the deepover it. I stopped its rivers and the plentiful waters dried up; I made Lebanon dark because of it, and al the wildtrees wilted because of it.	15 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: no dia em que o cedro desceu à morada dos mortos, ordenei um luto; por causa dele fechei o abismo {das águas}, parei os regatos e as grandes águas foram imobilizadas. Por causa dele denegri o Líbano, por causa dele todas as árvores do campo murcharam e secaram.
16 With the noise when it fel I made the nations quake, as I hurled it down to Sheol, with those who sinkinto oblivion. In the depths of the underworld al the trees of Eden took comfort, the pick of the loveliest trees ofthe Lebanon, al irrigated by the waters.	16 Ao ruído de sua queda abalei as nações, quando o precipitei na região dos mortos, com aqueles que descem à fossa. Todas as árvores do Éden, as mais belas, as mais esplendorosas do Líbano, todas aquelas que estavam banhadas pelas águas foram consoladas nas moradas infernais.
17 And its offspring among the nations, once living in its shade, went down to Sheol with it, to those whohave been slaughtered by the sword.	17 E, juntamente com ele, desceram à morada dos mortos, para junto das vítimas da espada, aqueles que eram seu braço e se mantinham debaixo de sua sombra entre as nações.
18 "Which of the trees of Eden compares with you for glory and greatness? Yet you have been hurleddown with the trees of Eden, to the depths of the underworld, among the uncircumcised, and there you lie withthose who have been slaughtered by the sword. So much for Pharaoh and al his throng -- declares the LordYahweh." '	18 A quem eras igual, em glória e grandeza, entre as árvores do Éden? Com elas te precipitaste nas moradas subterrâneas: jazes no meio dos incircuncisos, com os trespassados pelo gládio. Tal é o destino do faraó e do seu povo numeroso - oráculo do Senhor Javé.
