1 Next, some elders of Israel visited me and while they were sitting with me,	1 E venner da me alcuni de' seniori d'Israele, e si posero a sedere dinanzi a me.
2 the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	2 E il Signore parlommi, e disse:
3 'Son of man, these men have enshrined their foul idols in their hearts and placed the cause of theirsinning right before their eyes. Why should I let myself be consulted by them?	3 Figliuolo dell'uomo, questi uomini portano ne' loro cuori le loro immondezze, tengono dinanzi al proprio volto lo scandalo della loro iniquità. Quand' ei m' interrogheranno, risponderò io forse a costoro?
4 So speak to them; tel them this, "Lord Yahweh says this: Every member of the House of Israel whoenshrines his foul idols in his heart and places the cause of his sinning right before his eyes, and who thenapproaches the prophet, wil get this answer from me, Yahweh, as the multiplicity of his idols deserves,	4 Per questo parla loro, e dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Qualunque uomo della casa d'Israele, che porti le sue immondezze in cuor suo, e lo scandalo di sua iniquità tenga davanti al proprio volto, e venga a trovar il Profeta, affine d'interrogar me per mezzo di questo, io Signore risponderò a lui secondo le molte sue immondezze,
5 and in this way I hope to win back the hearts of the House of Israel who have al been estranged fromme by their foul idols."	5 Affinchè la casa d'Israele sia tradita dal proprio cuore, col quale si allontanaron da me per tutti i loro idoli.
6 'So say to the House of Israel, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Come back, turn away from your foulidols, turn your backs on al your loathsome practices;	6 Per questo di tu alla casa d'Israele: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Convertitevi, e ritiratevi da' vostri idoli, e non guardate più in viso tutte le vostre abbominazioni.
7 for if any member of the House of Israel -- or any foreigner living in Israel -- deserts me to enshrine hisfoul idols in his heart and places the cause of his sinning right before his eyes and then approaches a prophet toconsult me through him, he will get his answer from me, Yahweh.	7 Perchè qualunque uomo della casa di Israele, o qualunque straniero, che sia proselito in Israele, se si alienerà da me, e porterà idoli nel cuor suo, e terrà dinanzi al proprio volto lo scandalo di sua iniquità, e verrà a trovare il Profeta, affine d'interrogar me per mezzo di questo, io Signore risponderò a lui da per me.
8 I shal set my face against that person; I shall make him an example and a byword; I shal rid mypeople of him, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.	8 Ed io getterò irato il mio sguardo sopra costui, e farò, ch'ei diventi esempio, e favola a tutti, e lo spergerò di mezzo al mio popolo, e conoscerete, ch'io sono il Signore.
9 And if the prophet is seduced into saying something, I, Yahweh, shall have seduced that prophet; Ishall point my finger at him and rid my people Israel of him.	9 E quando il profeta darà in errore, e parlerà, io Signore ho ingannato quel profeta; ed io stenderò la mia mano sopra di lui, e lo cancellerò dal ceto del popol mio a Israele.
10 Both wil be punished for their guilt; the prophet's punishment wil be the same as that of the personwho consults him,	10 Ed ei porteranno la loro iniquità: quale l'iniquità di colui, che consulta, tale sarà l'iniquità del profeta;
11 so that the House of Israel wil never stray from me again or defile themselves again with thesecrimes, but be my people and I their God -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	11 Affinchè non si alieni più la casa d'Israele da me, né si contamini con tutte le sue prevaricazioni, ma siano essi mio popolo, ed io sia loro Dio, dice il Signor degli eserciti.
12 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me:	12 E il Signore parlommi, dicendo:
13 'Son of man, when a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I point my finger at it anddestroy its supply of food, inflicting famine on it and denuding it of human and animal,	13 Figliuolo dell'uomo, quando la terra avrà peccato contro di me, prevaricando enormemente, io stenderò la mano mia contro di lei, e torrolle il sostentamento del pane, e manderò contro di essa la fame, e farò morire i suoi uomini, e i suoi giumenti.
14 even if the three men, Noah, Danel and Job, were living in it, they would save no one but themselvesby their uprightness -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 Se in essa saran questi tre uomini. Noè, Daniele, e Giobbe, eglino colla loro giustizia salveranno le anime loro, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
15 Were I to unleash wild beasts on that country to rob it of its children and reduce it to a desert whichno one would dare to cross because of the animals,	15 Che se io di più manderò fiere crudeli in quella terra per devastarla, ed ella diverrà inabitabile, né uomo vi passerà per timor delle fiere:
16 even if these three men were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they would not beable to save either son or daughter; they alone would be saved, and the country would become a desert.	16 Questi tre uomini se in essa si troveranno (vivo io, dice il Signore Dio), non salveranno i figli loro, né le figlie, ma soli essi saranno liberati, e la terra sarà desolata.
17 Were I to bring the sword down on that country and say, "Sword, cross the country!" so as to denude it of human and animal,	17 E se contro quella terra manderò io la spada, e dirò alla spada: Scorri la terra: e se io ucciderò in essa l'uomo, e il giumento,
18 even if these three men were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they would not beable to save either son or daughter; they alone would be saved.	18 E in essa si troveranno quei tre uomini, vivo io, dice il Signore Dio ei non salveranno i figli loro, né le figlie, ma essi soli saran salvati.
19 If I were to send the plague on that country and vent my fury on it by bloodshed, so as to denude it ofhuman and animal,	19 Che se io in quella terra manderò anche la pestilenza; e l'ira mia spanderò sopra di lei per farvi macello, e per toglier da lei l'uomo, e il giumento;
20 even if Noah and Danel and Job were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they wouldbe able to save neither son nor daughter, only themselves by their uprightness.	20 E saranno in essa Noè, e Daniele, e Giobbe, vivo io, dice il Signore Dio, non salveranno i figli loro, ne le figliuole, ma colla loro giustizia salverannole anime loro;
21 'The Lord Yahweh says this, "Even if I send my four dreadful scourges on Jerusalem-sword, famine,wild beasts and plague -- to denude it of human and animal,	21 Imperocché queste cose dice il signore Dio: Se i quattro peggiori flagelli io manderò contro Gerusalemme, la spada, la fame, le bestie feroci, e la pestilenza per uccidere in essa l'uomo e il giumento,
22 even so, there wil be a remnant left, a few men and women who come through; when they come toyou and you see their conduct and actions, you wil take comfort in spite of the disaster which I have brought onJerusalem, in spite of al I have brought on her.	22 Rimarran però salvi de suoi alcuni, i quali ne travran fuori i figli, e le figlie: ecco, che questi verran da voi, vedrete i loro costumi, e le loro opere e vi consolerete, delle sciagure, che io ho mandato sopra Gerusalemme, e di tutto il peso, ond'io la ho aggravata.
23 They will comfort you, when you see their conduct and actions, and so you wil know that I have notdone in vain al I have done to her -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	23 E servirà a voi di consolazione il vedere i loro costumi, e le opere loro, e conoscerete, che non senza ragione ho fatto tutto quello, che ho fatto contro di lei, dice il Signore Dio.
