Jeremiah 8

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 'When that time comes, Yahweh declares, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its chief men,the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, wil be takenfrom their tombs.	1 Naquele tempo, diz o Senhor, serão lançados fora das suas sepulturas os ossos dos reis de Judá, os ossos dos seus príncipes, os ossos dos sacerdotes, os ossos dos profetas e os ossos daqueles que habitaram em Jerusalém;
2 They wil be spread out before the sun, the moon, the whole array of heaven, whom they have loved andserved, fol owed, consulted and worshipped. They wil not be gathered or reburied but will be left lying on thesurface like dung.	2 serão expostos ao sol, à lua e a toda a milícia (ou astros) do céu, que eles amaram e serviram, atrás de quem andaram, a quem consultaram e adoraram; não serão recolhidos nem sepultados: ficarão sobre a face da terra como esterco.
3 And death will seem preferable to life to al the survivors of this wicked race, wherever I have driventhem, Yahweh Sabaoth declares.	3 E escolherão antes a morte que a vida, todos os que ficarem desta raça perversa em todos os lugares, para onde eu os arrojar, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
4 'You are to tel them, "Yahweh says this: If someone fal s, can he not stand up again? If people stray,can they not turn back?	4 Dize-lhes: Assim fala o Senhor: Porventura o que cai não se levantará? E o que se desviou não voltará?
5 Why does this people persist in acts of infidelity, why does Jerusalem persist in continuous infidelity?They cling to il usion, they refuse to turn back.	5 Por que, então, se desviou (de mim) este povo de Jerusalém com um obstinado descaminho? Apegam-se à mentira, não querem voltar.
6 I have listened attentively: they have never said anything like that. Not one repents of wickednesssaying: What have I done? Each one keeps returning to the course like a horse charging into battle.	6 Atendi e escutei: não falam como é mister; não há quem faça penitência do seu pecado, dizendo: Que fiz eu? (Pelo contrário) todos voltam à sua carreira, como um cavalo que se atira ao combate.
7 Even the stork in the sky knows the appropriate season; turtledove, swal ow and crane observe theirtime of migration. But my people do not know Yahweh's laws!" '	7 A cegonha conhece no céu a sua estação; a rola, a andorinha e a grua observam o tempo da sua arribação; mas o meu povo não conhece a lei do Senhor.
8 How can you say, 'We are wise, since we have Yahweh's Law?' Look how it has been falsified by thelying pen of the scribes!	8 Como dizeis vós: Somos sábios, e a lei do Senhor está connosco? (Enganais-vos): verdadeiramente o cálamo mentiroso dos escribas transformou-a (à lei) em mentira.
9 The wise are put to shame, alarmed, caught out because they have rejected Yahweh's word. What pricetheir wisdom now?	9 Os (vossos) sábios estão confundidos, consternados e enredados. Rejeitaram a palavra do Senhor. E, afinal, que sabedoria há neles?
10 So I shal give their wives to other men, their fields to new masters, for, from the least to greatest, theyare al greedy for gain; prophet no less than priest, al of them practise fraud.	10 Pelo que darei as suas mulheres a estranhos, os seus campos a outros proprietários porque, desde o mais pequeno ao maior, todos se dão à ganância; desde o profeta ao sacerdote todos praticam a fraude.
11 Without concern they dress the wound of the daughter of my people, saying, 'Peace! Peace!' whereasthere is no peace.	11 Tratam, à toa, as chagas da filha do meu povo, dizendo: Paz, paz! - quando não há paz.
12 They should be ashamed of their loathsome deeds. Not they! They feel no shame, they do not evenknow how to blush. And so as others fall, they too wil fal , will be thrown down when the time for punishing themcomes, Yahweh says.	12 Serão confundidos, porque cometeram coisas abomináveis, ou antes, nem sequer sentem já vergonha, não sabem o que é envergonhar-se; portanto cairão entre os mortos, no tempo do seu castigo cairão, diz o Senhor.
13 I shal put an end to them, Yahweh declares, no more grapes on the vine, no more figs on the fig treeonly withered leaves: I have found them people to trample on them!	13 Vou juntá-los todos, diz o Senhor; não há uvas nas vides, nem figos na figueira, e as folhas murcharam! E farei que sejam arrebatadas.
14 Why are we sitting still? Mobilise! Take to the fortified towns and there fall silent, since Yahweh ourGod means to silence us by giving us poisoned water to drink because we have sinned against him.	14 Por que estamos nós quietos (dirão os Judeus)? Juntai-vos, entremos nas cidades fortificadas, para aí perecer, pois o Senhor nosso Deus nos vai fazer morrer, nos dá a beber águas envenenadas, porque pecamos contra o Senhor.
15 We are hoping for peace -- no good came of it! For the time of healing -- nothing but terror!	15 Esperávamos a paz, e nenhum bem nos chega; o remédio, e eis que só há terror.
16 From Dan you can hear the snorting of his horses; at the neighing of his stal ions the whole countryquakes; they are coming to devour the country and its contents, the town and those that live in it.	16 O estrépito da cavalaria inimiga ouve-se já desde Dan; ao som dos relinchos dos seus cavalos guerreiros estremece todo o país; vêm a devorar a terra e quanto há nela, a cidade e os seus habitantes.
17 Yes, now I am sending you poisonous snakes against which no charm exists; and they wil bite you,Yahweh declares.	17 Enviarei contra vós (Os Caldeus, como) serpentes e áspides contra os quais nada podem os encantamentos; eles vos morderão, diz o Senhor.
18 Incurable sorrow overtakes me, my heart fails me.	18 A minha dor é sem remédio, o meu coração angustiado dentro de mim.
19 Hark, from the daughter of my people the cry for help, ringing far and wide throughout the land! 'IsYahweh no longer in Zion, her King no longer there?' (Why have they provoked me with their idols, with theirfutile foreign gods?)	19 Eis a voz lamentosa (de Jerusalém) da filha do meu povo, que clama de uma terra longínqua: Porventura não está o Senhor em Sião, ou não está o seu rei no meio dela? Por que razão (responde o Senhor) me irritaram os seus habitantes com os seus ídolos, com deuses alheios?
20 'Harvest is over, summer at an end, and we have not been saved!'	20 O tempo da ceifa passou (dizem os Israelitas), o estio findou, e nós não fomos salvos.
21 The wound of the daughter of my people wounds me too, all looks dark to me, terror grips me.	21 Estou ferido (continua Jeremias) com a ferida da filha do meu povo; o espanto apoderou-se de mim.
22 Is there no balm in Gilead any more? Is no doctor there? Then why is there no progress in the cure ofthe daughter of my people?	22 Porventura não há mais bálsamo em Galaad? Não se acha lá nenhum médico? Por que não foi pois fechada a ferida da filha do meu povo?
23 Who wil turn my head into a fountain, and my eyes into a spring of tears, that I can weep day and nightover the slain of the daughter of my people?
