Jeremiah 19

1 Then Yahweh said to Jeremiah, 'Go and buy a potter's earthenware jug. Take some of the people'selders and some of the senior priests with you.	1 - Il Signore mi dice così: «Va e fatti consegnare dai seniori del popolo e dagli anziani dei sacerdoti un orciuolo di terra cotta
2 Go out towards the Valley of Ben-Hinnom, just outside the Gate of the Potsherds. There proclaim thewords I shall say to you.	2 ed esci nella Valle del figlio di Ennom che è all'ingresso della Porta delle terraglie e ivi pronuncerai le parole che io ti dirò.
3 You must say, "Kings of Judah, inhabitants of Jerusalem! Listen to the word of Yahweh! YahwehSabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: I am about to bring such a disaster on this place that the ears of every onewho hears of it wil ring.	3 E dirai: - Udite la parola del Signore, o re di Giuda e voi abitanti di Gerusalemme, così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio di Israele: "Ecco che io farò venire sopra questo luogo tale un'afflizione da far restare cogli orecchi intontiti chiunque l'udirà.
4 For they have abandoned me and have made this place unrecognisable, and offered incense here toother gods which neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Judah ever knew before. They have fil ed thisplace with the blood of the innocent;	4 Perciocchè hanno abbandonato me e hanno inforestierito questo luogo e fatto libazioni a dèi stranieri che nè essi, nè i padri loro avevano conosciuti, nè i re di Giuda; e hanno ripieno questo luogo di sangue innocente.
5 for they have built high places for Baal to burn their sons as burnt offerings to Baal, a thing I neverordered, never mentioned, that had never entered my thoughts.	5 E sulle alture hanno riedificato are ai Baalim per ardere sul fuoco i loro figliuoli in olocausto ai Baalim, cose che io non comandai, di cui non feci mai parola, nè mi sorsero in pensiero.
6 So now the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people will no longer cal this place Topheth, orVal ey of Ben-Hinnom, but Val ey of Slaughter.	6 Per questo, ecco che verrà giorno, dice il Signore, in cui questo luogo non si chiamerà più Tofet e Valle del figlio di Ennom, ma Valle dell'uccisione.
7 Because of this place, I shall empty Judah and Jerusalem of sound advice; I shall make them fall bythe sword before their enemies, by the hand of those determined to kil them; I shal give their corpses as food tothe birds of the sky and the animals of earth.	7 E sventerò il consiglio di Giuda e di Gerusalemme in questo luogo, e li farò stramazzare sotto la spada dinanzi ai loro nemici e sotto le mani di coloro che li cercano per la vita, e darò i loro cadaveri in pasto ai volatili del cielo e alle bestie della terra.
8 And I shal make this city an object of horror and derision; every passer-by will be appal ed at it andwhistle at the sight of al the wounds it has sustained.	8 E ridurrò questa città oggetto di stupore e di derisione: chiunque passerà accanto ad essa stupirà e fischierà per tutte le sue sciagure.
9 I shal make them eat the flesh of their own sons and daughters: they wil eat one another during thesiege, in the shortage to which their enemies, and those determined to kil them, will reduce them."	9 E li ridurrò a cibarsi della carne dei loro propri figliuoli e delle proprie figliuole e uno mangerà la carne del suo compagno nell'assedio e nell'angustia in cui saranno stretti dai loro nemici e da quei che cercano la loro vita".-
10 'You must break this jug in front of the men who are with you,	10 Poi, davanti agli occhi degli uomini venuti teco, sfracellerai l'orciuolo.
11 and say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I am going to break this people and this city just as onebreaks a potter's pot, so that it can never be mended again. "Topheth wil become a burial ground, for lack ofother burial space.	11 E dirai loro: - Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "In tal guisa manderò in isfacelo questo popolo e questa città come si sfracella un vaso di terra cotta che non si può più racconciare, e in Tofet saranno seppelliti, perchè altro luogo non vi sarà per seppellire.
12 That is how I shal treat this place, Yahweh declares, and its inhabitants, by making this city likeTopheth.	12 In tal maniera io agirò con questo luogo, dice il Signore, e coi suoi abitatori, e ridurrò questa città in un vero Tofet.
13 The houses of Jerusalem and those of the kings of Judah, al the houses on the roofs of which theyoffered incense to the whole array of heaven and poured libations to other gods, wil be unclean, like this placeTopheth." '	13 E le case di Gerusalemme e le case dei re di Giuda saranno come il luogo di Tofet, contaminate, tutte quelle case, sulle terrazze delle quali offrivano sacrifizi alla milizia del cielo e libazioni agli dèi stranieri"-».
14 Jeremiah then came back from Topheth where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, and stood in thecourt of the Temple of Yahweh and said to al the people,	14 E Geremia se ne venne via da Tofet, dove il Signore l'aveva mandato a profetare, e si fermò nell'atrio della Casa del Signore, e disse a tutto il popolo:
15 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "Yes, on this city, and on all the towns belonging to it, Ishall bring all the disaster which I had decreed for it, since they have stubbornly refused to listen to my words." '	15 «Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: - Ecco che io farò venire sopra questa metropoli e sopra tutte le sue città tutti i mali che ho pronunciato sopra di essa, perchè hanno indurata la loro cervice ostinandosi a non voler dare ascolto alle mie parole -».
