Jeremiah 19

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Then Yahweh said to Jeremiah, 'Go and buy a potter's earthenware jug. Take some of the people'selders and some of the senior priests with you.	1 Así habló el Señor a Jeremías: Ve a comprar un cántaro de arcilla. Luego llevarás contigo a algunos de los ancianos del pueblo y de los ancianos de los sacerdotes,
2 Go out towards the Valley of Ben-Hinnom, just outside the Gate of the Potsherds. There proclaim thewords I shall say to you.	2 saldrás al valle de Ben Hinnóm, que está a la entrada de la puerta de la Alfarería, y proclamarás allí las palabras que yo te indicaré.
3 You must say, "Kings of Judah, inhabitants of Jerusalem! Listen to the word of Yahweh! YahwehSabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: I am about to bring such a disaster on this place that the ears of every onewho hears of it wil ring.	3 Tú dirás: Escuchen la palabra del Señor, reyes de Judá y habitantes de Jerusalén. Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Yo haré venir sobre este lugar una desgracia tal, que a todo el que oiga hablar de ella le zumbarán los oídos.
4 For they have abandoned me and have made this place unrecognisable, and offered incense here toother gods which neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Judah ever knew before. They have fil ed thisplace with the blood of the innocent;	4 Porque ellos me han abandonado y han enajenado este lugar, quemando en él incienso a otros dioses, que no conocían ellos, ni sus padres, ni los reyes de Judá, y porque han llenado este lugar de sangre inocente.
5 for they have built high places for Baal to burn their sons as burnt offerings to Baal, a thing I neverordered, never mentioned, that had never entered my thoughts.	5 Han edificado lugares altos a Baal, para quemar en el fuego a sus hijos como holocaustos a Baal, cosa que yo no había ordenado ni dicho, y que jamás se me pasó por la mente.
6 So now the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people will no longer cal this place Topheth, orVal ey of Ben-Hinnom, but Val ey of Slaughter.	6 Por eso, llegarán los días –oráculo del Señor– en que este lugar ya no será llamado «el Tófet» ni «valle de Ben Hinnóm», sino «valle de la Masacre».
7 Because of this place, I shall empty Judah and Jerusalem of sound advice; I shall make them fall bythe sword before their enemies, by the hand of those determined to kil them; I shal give their corpses as food tothe birds of the sky and the animals of earth.	7 Yo frustraré en este lugar el designio de Judá y de Jerusalén; los haré caer delante de sus enemigos por la espada y por la mano de aquellos que atentan contra su vida, y entregaré sus cadáveres como pasto a las aves del cielo y a los animales de la tierra.
8 And I shal make this city an object of horror and derision; every passer-by will be appal ed at it andwhistle at the sight of al the wounds it has sustained.	8 Convertiré esta ciudad en una devastación y en un motivo de estupor: todo el que pase junto a ella quedará pasmado y silbará de estupor al ver todas sus plagas.
9 I shal make them eat the flesh of their own sons and daughters: they wil eat one another during thesiege, in the shortage to which their enemies, and those determined to kil them, will reduce them."	9 Yo les haré comer la carne de sus hijos y de sus hijas, y se comerán unos a otros, bajo la presión del asedio a que los someterán sus enemigos y los que atentan contra su vida.
10 'You must break this jug in front of the men who are with you,	10 Tú quebrarás el cántaro a la vista de los hombres que te hayan acompañado,
11 and say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I am going to break this people and this city just as onebreaks a potter's pot, so that it can never be mended again. "Topheth wil become a burial ground, for lack ofother burial space.	11 y les dirás: Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: De esta misma manera quebraré a este pueblo y a esta ciudad, como se quiebra una vasija de alfarero que ya no se puede reparar, y los muertos serán enterrados en Tófet, porque no habrá otro sitio donde enterrarlos.
12 That is how I shal treat this place, Yahweh declares, and its inhabitants, by making this city likeTopheth.	12 Así trataré a este lugar –oráculo del Señor– y a los que habitan en él: haré a esta ciudad semejante a Tófet.
13 The houses of Jerusalem and those of the kings of Judah, al the houses on the roofs of which theyoffered incense to the whole array of heaven and poured libations to other gods, wil be unclean, like this placeTopheth." '	13 Las casas de Jerusalén y las casas de los reyes de Judá serán impuras como el lugar de Tófet: sí, todas esas casas sobre cuyos techos se quemó incienso a todo el Ejército de los cielos y se derramaron libaciones a otros dioses.
14 Jeremiah then came back from Topheth where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, and stood in thecourt of the Temple of Yahweh and said to al the people,	14 Cuando Jeremías regresó de Tófet. adonde el Señor lo había enviado a profetizar, se paró en el atrio de la Casa del Señor, y dijo a todo el pueblo:
15 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "Yes, on this city, and on all the towns belonging to it, Ishall bring all the disaster which I had decreed for it, since they have stubbornly refused to listen to my words." '	15 Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: «Miren que yo atraigo sobre esta ciudad y sobre sus poblados toda la desgracia con que los había amenazado, porque ellos se han obstinado en no escuchar mis palabras».
