1 Yahweh said to me, 'Take a large tablet and on it with an ordinary stylus write, "Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz".	1 Yahvé me dit: “Trouve un sceau bien large, et grave dessus au poinçon ce prénom: ‘Ramassage-immédiat, Pillage-tout-proche.’
2 And take reliable witnesses, the priest Uriah and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.'	2 Prends-moi ensuite comme témoins deux hommes de confiance: le prêtre Ouriya et Zékaryas, fils de Yébérekyas.”

5 Yahweh spoke to me again and said,	5 Yahvé me parla de nouveau. Il me dit:
6 'Since this people has rejected the waters of Shiloah which flow smoothly, and has trembled beforeRazon and the son of Remaliah,	6 “Puisque ce peuple a méprisé les eaux de Siloé qui coulent en douceur, et qu’il a tremblé devant Razone et le fils de Rémalyas,
7 now, against it, the Lord will bring the mighty, swel ing waters of the River (the king of Assyria and al hisglory); the River wil flood up all its channels and overflow al its banks;	7 le Seigneur va faire venir sur eux les eaux d’un fleuve puissant et profond: le roi d’Assyrie et tout son monde. Le voici qui déborde de son lit et se répand au-delà de ses rives.
8 it wil flow into Judah, flooding everything and passing on; it will reach right up to the neck, and the spreading of its wings wil cover the whole extent of your country, Immanuel!	8 Il passe en Juda comme l’inondation qui vient, qui s’étend et qui monte jusqu’au cou; de ses ailes déployées il recouvre tout ton pays, Emmanuel!”
9 Realise this, peoples, and be afraid, listen, all members of far-off nations! Arm yourselves yet be afraid!Arm yourselves yet be afraid!	9 Apprenez-le, peuples: vous serez brisés! Sachez-le bien vous tous au bout du monde: allez-y, vous serez brisés! allez-y, vous serez brisés!
10 Devise plans as you may: they will come to nothing! Make what pronouncements you like; it wil notcome about! For God is with us!'	10 Faites un projet, il sera réduit à rien, dites une parole, elle ne se réalisera pas, car Dieu est avec nous!
11 For this was how Yahweh spoke to me when his hand seized hold of me and he taught me not to fol owthe path of this people, saying,	11 Lorsque Yahvé m’a empoigné de sa main, il m’a averti de ne pas suivre le chemin de ce peuple. Il m’a dit alors:
12 'Do not call conspiracy al that this people calls conspiracy; do not dread what they dread, have no fearof that.	12 “Vous ne crierez pas au complot chaque fois que ce peuple criera au complot. Vous ne craindrez pas lorsqu’il craindra, vous ne tremblerez pas.
13 Yahweh Sabaoth is the one you wil proclaim holy, him you wil dread, him you wil fear.	13 C’est Yahvé Sabaot que vous traiterez comme le Saint; c’est lui que vous craindrez, c’est devant lui que vous tremblerez.
14 He will be a sanctuary, a stumbling-stone, a rock to trip up the two Houses of Israel; a snare and a trapfor the inhabitants of Jerusalem,	14 Il sera pour les deux maisons d’Israël un Sanctuaire, mais aussi la pierre sur laquelle on achoppe, un rocher qui fait tomber, un filet et un piège pour les habitants de Jérusalem.
15 over which many of them wil stumble, fal and be broken, be ensnared and made captive.	15 Beaucoup d’entre eux trébucheront, ils tomberont et seront écrasés, ils seront pris au piège et seront attrapés.
16 Bind up the testimony, seal the instruction in the heart of my disciples.'	16 Maintenant, confie cette parole à mes disciples comme une révélation sous scellés.”
17 My trust is in Yahweh who hides his face from the House of Jacob; I put my hope in him.	17 Moi, j’attends Yahvé qui cache son visage au peuple de Jacob, je mets en lui mon espérance.
18 Look, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me shal become signs and portents in Israel onbehalf of Yahweh Sabaoth who dwel s on Mount Zion.	18 Moi et les enfants que Yahvé m’a donnés, nous sommes pour Israël des signes et des avertissements, de la part de Yahvé Sabaot qui habite sur le mont de Sion.
19 And should people say to you, 'Go and consult ghosts and wizards that whisper and mutter' -- a peopleshould certainly consult its gods and the dead on behalf of the living!	19 Et si l’on vous dit: “Allez consulter les magiciens et les sorciers qui murmurent et qui chuchotent”, répondez: “Bien sûr, un peuple doit consulter ses dieux! Allez donc consulter des morts en faveur des vivants!”
20 As regards instruction and testimony, without doubt this is how they wil talk, and hence there wil be nodawn for them.	20 Revenez donc à ce que Lui enseigne et affirme, comme c’est le cas pour cette parole: là il n’y a pas de nuit.
21 Oppressed and starving he wil wander the country; and, once starving, he wil become frenzied andcurse his king and his God; turning his gaze upward,	21 Épuisé et affamé, il traversera le pays, la faim le rendra furieux, il maudira son roi et son Dieu! Il se tournera vers le ciel,
22 then down to earth, there wil be only anguish, gloom, the confusion of night, swirling darkness.	22 puis il regardera vers la terre. Partout il ne verra que détresse et ténèbres, la nuit redoutable et l’obscurité angoissante.
23 For is not everything dark as night for a country in distress? As the past humbled the land of Zebulunand the land of Naphtali, so the future will glorify the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, the territory of thenations.	23 Mais là où se trouvait l’angoisse, la nuit disparaîtra. Dans le passé, il a réduit à rien le pays de Zabulon et le pays de Nephtali, mais dans l’avenir il couvrira de gloire la route de la mer, au-delà du Jourdain, la province des païens.
