Isaiah 44

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 And now listen, Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen.	1 Ed ora ascolta, o Giacobbe mio servo, o Israele mio eletto.
2 Thus says Yahweh who made you, who formed you in the womb; he will help you. Do not be afraid,Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.	2 Queste cose dice il Signore che t'ha fatto, che t'ha formato dal seno della madre, il tuo aiuto: « Non temere, o Giacobbe mio servo, o giustissimo da me eletto;
3 For I shal pour out water on the thirsty soil and streams on the dry ground. I shal pour out my spirit onyour descendants, my blessing on your offspring,	3 perchè io coprirò d'acque la terra sitibonda e di ruscelli la terra arida: effonderò il mio spirito sopra la tua discendenza, e la mia benedizione sopra la tua stirpe.
4 and they wil spring up among the grass, like wil ows on the banks of a stream.	4 E germineranno tra le erbe, come salci lungo le acque correnti.
5 One person wil say, 'I belong to Yahweh,' another wil cal himself by Jacob's name. On his handanother wil write 'Yahweh's' and be surnamed 'Israel'.	5 Uno dirà: « Io sono del Signore », l'altro prenderà il nome di Giacobbe: un altro poi scriverà sulla sua mano: « Del Signore » e prenderà il soprannome da Israele ».
6 Thus says Yahweh, Israel's king, Yahweh Sabaoth, his redeemer: I am the first and I am the last; thereis no God except me.	6 Così parla il Signore, il re d'Israele, il suo redentore, il Signore degli eserciti: « Io sono il primo, io sono l'ultimo, e fuori di me non c'è Dio.
7 Who is like me? Let him cal out, let him affirm it and convince me it is so; let him say what has beenhappening since I instituted an eternal people, and predict to them what will happen next!	7 Chi è come me? Chiami, proclami, e m'esponga l'ordine delle cose dal giorno in cui io stabilii gli antichi popoli. Annunzino ad essi l'avvenire e le cose future.
8 Have no fear, do not be afraid: have I not told you and revealed it long ago? You are my witnesses. Isthere any God except me? There is no Rock; I know of none.	8 Non vi spaventate, non vi turbate: da un pezzo io l'ho fatto sapere e l'ho predetto: voi mi siete testimoni: vi può essere un Dio fuori di me, un plasmatore che io non conosca?
9 The makers of idols are all nothingness; the works they delight in serve no purpose. And these are thewitness against them: they see nothing, they know nothing; and so they wil be put to shame.	9 I fabbricatori d'idoli sono, tutti insieme, un niente, e loro a nulla gioveranno le cose che stiman preziose; essi ne son testimoni, che nulla vedono, che non intendono, e son confusi.
10 Who ever fashioned a god or cast an image without hope of gain?	10 Chi ardì fabbricare un Dio e fondere un idolo buono a nulla?
11 Watch how al its devotees wil be put to shame, and the men who made it too, who are only human.Let them al assemble, let them stand forward and feel both fear and shame!	11 Ecco, tutti quelli che vi han preso parte saran confusi: questi artefici son degli uomini: s'adunino tutti insieme, si presentino, e tremeranno, e saran tutti svergognati.
12 The blacksmith makes an axe over the charcoal, beats it into shape with a hammer, works on it withhis strong arm. Then he feels hungry and his strength deserts him; having drunk no water, he is exhausted.	12 Il fabbro lavora colla lima, col fuoco, e col martello dà forma al suo lavoro, lo riduce a forza di braccia, patirà la fame e verrà meno, non beverà acqua e sarà spossato.
13 The wood carver takes his measurements, outlines the image with chalk, executes it with the chisel,fol owing the outline with a compass. He makes it look like a human being, with human standards of beauty, sothat it can reside in a house.	13 Il legnaiolo tende il regolo, dà forma all'idolo collo scalpello, lo riduce colla squadra, gli dà il rotondo col compasso, gli dà la forma d'uomo, d'uomo di bell'aspetto, che resti in casa.
14 He has cut down cedars, has selected an oak and a terebinth which he has grown for himself amongthe trees in the forest and has planted a pine tree which the rain has nourished.	14 Taglia i cedri, porta via un leccio, una querce che era stata fra gli alberi del bosco. Ha piantato un pino, che la pioggia ha fatto crescere,
15 Once it is suitable to burn, he takes some of it to warm himself; having kindled it, he bakes bread. Buthe also makes a god and worships it; he makes an idol from it and bows down before it.	15 e serve agli uomini per il fuoco, ed egli l'ha preso e s'è scaldato, l'ha fatto bruciare e ha cotto il pane; di quello che è rimasto ci ha fatto un dio, e l'adora, ci ha fabbricato un idolo, e si prostra dinanzi a lui.
16 Half of it he burns on the fire, over this half he roasts meat, eats it and is replete; at the same time hewarms himself and says, 'Ah, how warm I am, watching the flames!'	16 La metà l'ha bruciata col fuoco, coll'altra metà ci ha cotte le carni da mangiare, ha cotte le sue vivande e s'è saziato, s'è scaldato e ha detto: « Ah! mi sono scaldato, ho visto il fuoco! »
17 With the remainder he makes a god, his idol, bows down before it, worships it and prays to it. 'Save me,' he says, 'for you are my god.'	17 Di ciò che è restato s'è fatto un dio, un idolo e gli si prostra davanti e l'adora, e prega, dicendo: « Salvami: tu sei il mio Dio! »
18 They know nothing, they understand nothing, since their eyes are incapable of seeing and their heartsof reflecting.	18 Non sanno, non capiscono nulla, hanno gli occhi impiastricciati in modo da non vedere e da non capire col loro cuore.
19 Not one of them looks into his heart, not one of them has the knowledge and wit to think, 'I burned halfof it on the fire and cooked food over the embers. Am I right to make something disgusting out of what is left?Am I right to bow down before a block of wood?'	19 Non riflettono nella loro mente, non hanno nè intelligenza nè buon senso da dire: « Ne ho bruciata la metà al fuoco, sui suoi carboni ci ho cotto il pane, ci ho cotte le carni per i miei pasti, e di quel che resta ne farò un idolo? Mi prostrerò davanti ad un pezzo di legno? »
20 He hankers after ashes, his deluded heart has led him astray; he wil not save himself, he will notthink, 'What I have in my hand is nothing but a lie!'	20 Una parte di esso è cenere, un cuore stolto l'adora, e non potrà liberare se stesso, e non potrà dire: « Forse nella mia destra è la menzogna ».
21 Remember these things, Jacob, and Israel, since you are my servant. I formed you, you are myservant; Israel, I shall not forget you.	21 Ricordati di queste cose, o Giacobbe, o Israele, perchè tu sei mio servo, io t'ho fatto: tu Sei mio servo; o Israele, non ti dimenticare di me.
22 I have dispel ed your acts of revolt like a cloud and your sins like a mist. Come back to me, for I haveredeemed you.	22 Ho fatte sparire come nubi le tue iniquità, come nebbia i tuoi peccati: ritorna a me, chè t'ho redento.
23 Heavens, shout for joy, for Yahweh has acted! Underworld, shout aloud! Shout for joy, you mountains,forests and al your trees! For Yahweh has redeemed Jacob and displayed his glory in Israel.	23 Cieli, cantate inni, chè il Signore ha fatto misericordia, giubilate, ultimi confini della terra, fate echeggiare i canti di lode, o montagne, o foreste con tutte le vostre piante, perchè il Signore ha redento Giacobbe, e sarà glorificato Israele.
24 Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, he who formed you in the womb: I, Yahweh, have made althings, I alone spread out the heavens. When I hammered the earth into shape, who was with me?	24 Così parla il Signore, il tuo redentore, che ti ha formato dal seno della madre: « Io sono il Signore che ho fatto tutte le cose, io solo distendo i cieli, e rendo stabile la terra, e nessuno è con me.
25 I, who foil the omens of soothsayers and make fools of diviners, who confound sages turning theirknowledge into folly,	25 Io rendo vani i presagi degli indovini, e faccio impazzire gli astrologò fo indietreggiare i sapienti, rendo stoltezza la loro scienza.
26 who confirm the word of my servant and make the plans of my envoys succeed; who say toJerusalem, 'You wil be inhabited,' and to the towns of Judah, 'You wil be rebuilt and I shall restore the ruins ofJerusalem';	26 Io compio le parole del suo servo, eseguisco il consiglio dei suoi inviati, io, che dico a Gerusalemme: « Sarai abitata », alle città di Giuda: « Sarete riedificate » io rialzerò le loro rovine.
27 who say to the ocean, 'Dry up! I shal make your rivers run dry';	27 Io che dico all'abisso: « Asciugati », io farò seccare i tuoi fiumi.
28 who say to Cyrus, 'My shepherd.' He wil perform my entire wil by saying to Jerusalem, 'You wil berebuilt,' and to the Temple, 'You wil be refounded.'	28 Io che dico a Ciro: « Tu sei il mio pastore, e tu adempirai tutti i miei voleri », io che dico a Gerusalemme: « Sarai riedificata » e al tempio: « Sarai rifondato ».
