NEW JERUSALEM | GREEK BIBLE |
---|---|
1 The year the general-in-chief, sent by Sargon king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and stormed andcaptured it | 1 Εν τω ετει καθ' ο ο Ταρταν ηλθεν εις την Αζωτον, οτε απεστειλεν αυτον ο Σαργων βασιλευς της Ασσυριας και επολεμησε κατα της Αζωτου και εκυριευσεν αυτην, |
2 at that time Yahweh spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz and said, 'Go, undo the sackcloth round yourwaist and take the sandals off your feet.' And he did so, and walked about, naked and barefoot. |
3 Yahweh then said, 'As my servant Isaiah has been walking about naked and barefoot for the last threeyears as a sign and portent for Egypt and Cush, | 3 Και ειπε Κυριος, Καθως ο δουλος μου Ησαιας περιεπατει γυμνος και ανυποδητος τρια ετη, δια σημειον και τεραστιον κατα της Αιγυπτου και κατα της Αιθιοπιας, |
4 so the king of Assyria wil lead the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, young and old, naked andbarefoot, their buttocks bared, to the shame of Egypt. |
5 Then they wil be afraid and ashamed of Cush their hope and Egypt their pride, | 5 Και θελουσι τρομαξει και εντραπη δια την Αιθιοπιαν, το θαρρος αυτων? |
6 and the inhabitants of this coast will say on that day, "Look what has happened to our hope, to those towhom we fled for help, to escape from the king of Assyria. How are we going to escape?"
