Psalms 106

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!	1 ALLELUIA. Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus, quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?	2 Quis loquetur potentias Domini, auditas faciet omnes laudes eius?
3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!	3 Beati, qui custodiunt iudicium et faciunt iustitiam in omni tempore.
4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,	4 Memento nostri, Domine, in beneplacito populi tui, visita nos in salutari tuo,
5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.	5 ut videamus bona electorum tuorum, ut laetemur in laetitia gentis tuae, ut gloriemur cum hereditate tua.
6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;	6 Peccavimus cum patribus nostris, iniuste egimus, iniquitatem fecimus.
7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;	7 Patres nostri in Aegypto non intellexerunt mirabilia tua, non fuerunt memores multitudinis misericordiarum tuarum et irritaverunt ascendentes in mare, mare Rubrum.
8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.	8 Et salvavit eos propter nomen suum, ut notam faceret potentiam suam. -
9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,	9 Et increpuit mare Rubrum, et exsiccatum est, et deduxit eos in abyssis sicut in deserto.
10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.	10 Et salvavit eos de manu odientis et redemit eos de manu inimici.
11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.	11 Et operuit aqua tribulantes eos: unus ex eis non remansit.
12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.	12 Et crediderunt verbis eius et cantaverunt laudem eius.
13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;	13 Cito obliti sunt operum eius et non sustinuerunt consilium eius;
14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.	14 et concupierunt concupiscentiam in deserto et tentaverunt Deum in inaquoso.
15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;	15 Et dedit eis petitionem ipsorum et misit saturitatem in animas eorum.
16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.	16 Et zelati sunt Moysen in castris, Aaron sanctum Domini.
17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;	17 Aperta est terra et deglutivit Dathan et operuit super congregationem Abiram.
18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.	18 Et exarsit ignis in synagoga eorum, flamma combussit peccatores.
19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;	19 Et fecerunt vitulum in Horeb et adoraverunt sculptile;
20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 et mutaverunt gloriam suam in similitudinem tauri comedentis fenum.
21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,	21 Obliti sunt Deum, qui salvavit eos, qui fecit magnalia in Aegypto,
22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.	22 mirabilia in terra Cham, terribilia in mari Rubro.
23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.	23 Et dixit quia disperderet eos, nisi affuisset Moyses electus eius: stetit in confractione in conspectu eius, ut averteret iram eius, ne destrueret eos.
24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;	24 Et pro nihilo habuerunt terram desiderabilem, non crediderunt verbo eius.
25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.	25 Et murmuraverunt in tabernaculis suis, non exaudierunt vocem Domini.
26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,	26 Et elevavit manum suam super eos, ut prosterneret eos in deserto
27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.	27 et ut deiceret semen eorum in nationibus et dispergeret eos in regionibus.
28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.	28 Et adhaeserunt Baalphegor et comederunt sacrificia mortuorum;
29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.	29 et irritaverunt eum in adinventionibus suis, et irrupit in eos ruina.
30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;	30 Et stetit Phinees et fecit iudicium, et cessavit quassatio,
31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.	31 et reputatum est ei in iustitiam in generationem et generationem usque in sempiternum.
32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,	32 Et irritaverunt eum ad aquas Meriba, et vexatus est Moyses propter eos,
33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.	33 quia exacerbaverunt spiritum eius, et temere locutus est in labiis suis.
34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,	34 Non disperdiderunt gentes, quas dixit Dominus illis.
35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.	35 Et commixti sunt inter gentes et didicerunt opera eorum.
36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,	36 Et servierunt sculptilibus eorum, et factum est illis in scandalum.
37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.	37 Et immolaverunt filios suos et filias suas daemoniis.
38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.	38 Et effuderunt sanguinem innocentem, sanguinem filiorum suorum et filiarum suarum, quas sacrificaverunt sculptilibus Chanaan. Et infecta est terra in sanguinibus,
39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.	39 et contaminati sunt in operibus suis et fornicati sunt in adinventionibus suis.
40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.	40 Et exarsit ira Dominus in populum suum et abominatus est hereditatem suam
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;	41 et tradidit eos in manus gentium, et dominati sunt eorum, qui oderunt eos.
42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.	42 Et tribulaverunt eos inimici eorum, et humiliati sunt sub manibus eorum.
43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;	43 Saepe liberavit eos; ipsi autem exacerbaverunt eum in consilio suo et corruerunt in iniquitatibus suis.
44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.	44 Et vidit tribulationem eorum, cum audivit clamorem eorum. -
45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;	45 Et memor fuit testamenti sui et paenituit eum secundum multitudinem misericordiae suae.
46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.	46 Et dedit eos in miserationes in conspectu omnium, qui captivos duxerant eos.
47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.	47 Salvos nos fac, Domine Deus noster, et congrega nos de nationibus, ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo et gloriemur in laude tua.
48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.	48 Benedictus Dominus, Deus Israel, a saeculo et usque in saeculum. Et dicet omnis populus: “ Fiat, fiat ”.
