NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'It is on record that the prophet Jeremiah ordered the deportees to take the fire, as we have described,	1 Consta en los archivos que el profeta Jeremías ordenó a los deportados que tomaran fuego, como ya se ha indicado,
2 and how, having given them the Law, the prophet warned the deportees never to forget the Lord'sprecepts, nor to let their thoughts be tempted by the sight of gold and silver statues or the finery adorning them.	2 y que el profeta, después de entregarles la Ley, les mandó que no olvidaran los preceptos del Señor, ni se desviaran al ver los ídolos de oro y plata y la pompa que los rodeaba.
3 Among other similar admonitions, he urged them not to let the Law depart from their hearts.	3 Entre otras recomendaciones similares, los exhortaba una y otra vea a que no apartaran la Ley de sus corazones.
4 'The same document also describes how the prophet, warned by an oracle, gave orders for the tentand the ark to go with him, when he set out for the mountain which Moses had climbed to survey God's heritage.	4 Se decía en el escrito cómo el profeta, advertido por un oráculo, mandó llevar con él la Carpa y el Arca, y cómo partió hacia la montaña donde Moisés había subido para contemplar la herencia de Dios.
5 On his arrival, Jeremiah found a cave-dwel ing, into which he put the tent, the ark and the altar ofincense, afterwards blocking up the entrance.	5 Al llegar, Jeremías encontró una caverna: allí introdujo la Carpa, el Arca y el altar del incienso y clausuró la entrada.
6 Some of his companions went back later to mark out the path but were unable to find it.	6 Algunos de sus acompañantes volvieron para poner señales en el camino, pero no pudieron encontrarlo.
7 When Jeremiah learned this, he reproached them, "The place is to remain unknown", he said, "untilGod gathers his people together again and shows them his mercy.	7 Y cuando Jeremías se enteró de esto, los reprendió, diciéndoles: «Ese lugar quedará ignorado hasta que Dios tenga misericordia de su pueblo y lo reúna.
8 Then the Lord wil bring these things once more to light, and the glory of the Lord will be seen, and sowil the cloud, as it was revealed in the time of Moses and when Solomon prayed that the holy place might begloriously hal owed."	8 Entonces el Señor pondrá todo de manifiesto, y aparecerá la gloria del Señor y la nube, como apareció en tiempos de Moisés y cuando Salomón oró para que el Santuario fuera solemnemente consagrado».
9 'It was also recorded how Solomon in his wisdom offered the sacrifice of the dedication and completionof the sanctuary.	9 Además, se hacía constar que Salomón, lleno del espíritu de sabiduría, ofreció el sacrificio de la dedicación y la terminación del Templo.
10 As Moses had prayed to the Lord and fire had come down from heaven and burned up the sacrifice,so Solomon also prayed, and the fire from above consumed the burnt offerings.	10 Así como Moisés oró al Señor y bajó fuego del Cielo, que devoró las ofrendas del sacrificio, así también cuando oró Salomón, bajó fuego y consumió la víctima.
11 Moses had said, "Because the sacrifice for sin had not been eaten, it was burnt instead."	11 Moisés había dicho: «Por no haber sido comida, la oblación ofrecida por el pecado ha sido destruida».
12 Solomon similarly observed the eight-day festival.	12 De la misma manera, Salomón celebró los ocho días de fiesta.
13 'In addition to the above, it was also recorded, both in these writings and in the Memoirs of Nehemiah, how Nehemiah founded a library and made a col ection of the books dealing with the kings and the prophets, thewritings of David and the letters of the kings on the subject of offerings.	13 Los mismos hechos se narraban en los archivos y en las Memorias de Nehemías, donde se relataba, además, cómo este fundó una biblioteca, en la que reunió los libros que tratan de los reyes, los libros de los profetas y los de David, así como también las cartas de los reyes sobre las ofrendas.
14 Similarly, Judas made a complete col ection of the books dispersed in the late war, and these we stillhave.	14 Del mismo modo, Judas reunió todos los escritos dispersos a causa de las guerras que hemos padecido, los cuales están ahora en poder nuestro.
15 If you need any of them, send someone to fetch them.	15 Si ustedes necesitan alguno de estos escritos, manden a alguien que los venga a buscar.
16 'Since we are about to celebrate the purification, we now write, requesting you to observe the samedays.	16 Les escribimos esto, próximos a celebrar la purificación del Templo; también ustedes hagan lo posible por celebrar estos días.
17 God, who has saved his whole people, conferring heritage, kingdom, priesthood and sanctification onal of us,	17 El Dios que salvó a todo su pueblo y concedió a todos la herencia, el reino, el sacerdocio y la santificación,
18 as he has promised in the Law, will surely, as our hope is in him, be swift to show us mercy andgather us together from everywhere under heaven to the holy place, since he has rescued us from great evilsand has purified it.'	18 como lo había prometido por medio de la Ley, ese mismo Dios –así lo esperamos– tendrá compasión de nosotros y nos reunirá en el Santuario, desde todas las partes de la tierra. Porque él nos ha librado de graves males y ha purificado el Lugar santo.
19 The story of Judas Maccabaeus and his brothers, the purification of the great Temple, the dedicationof the altar,	19 La historia de Judas Macabeo y sus hermanos, de la purificación del gran Templo y de la dedicación del altar,
20 together with the wars against Antiochus Epiphanes and his son Eupator,	20 así como las guerras contra Antíoco Epífanes y su hijo Eupátor,
