NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 The wife of a member of the prophetic brotherhood appealed to Elisha. 'Your servant my husband isdead,' she said, 'and you know how your servant revered Yahweh. A creditor has now come to take my twochildren and make them his slaves.'	1 Ora uma mulher, dentre as mulheres dos filhos dos profetas, gritou a Eliseu, dizendo: Meu marido, teu servo, morreu, e tu sabes que teu servo era temente ao Senhor; agora veio o credor para me levar os meus dois filhos para os fazer seus escravos.
2 Elisha said, 'What can I do for you? Tel me, what have you got in the house?' 'Your servant has nothingin the house,' she replied, 'except a flask of oil.'	2 Eliseu disse-Ihe: Que queres que eu te faça? Dize-me: que tens em tua casa? Ela respondeu: Eu, tua serva, não tenho em minha casa outra coisa, senão uma vasilha de azeite.
3 Then he said, 'Go outside and borrow jars from al your neighbours, empty jars and not too few.	3 Disse-lhe Eliseu: Vai, pede emprestadas às tuas vizinhas bastantes vasilhas vazias;
4 When you come back, shut the door on yourself and your sons, and pour the oil into all these jars,putting each aside when it is ful .'	4 depois entra e fecha a tua porta, quando estiveres de dentro tu e teus filhos, e deita do azeite em todas estas vasilhas; à medida que se forem enchendo, vai-as pondo à parte.
5 So she left him; and she shut the door on herself and her sons; they passed her the jars and she wenton pouring.	5 Foi, pois, a mulher, e fechou a porta sobre si e sobre seus filhos; os filhos chegavam-lhe as vasilhas, e ela as enchia.
6 When the jars were full, she said to her son, 'Pass me another jar.' 'There are no more,' he replied. Thenthe oil stopped flowing.	6 Cheias que foram as vasilhas, disse ela a um de seus filhos: Chega-me cá ainda alguma outra vasilha. Ele respondeu-lhe: Não tenho mais. E o azeite cessou _(de se multiplicar).
7 She went and told the man of God, who said, 'Go and sel the oil and redeem your pledge; you and yourchildren can live on the remainder.'	7 Foi, então, ela, e referiu tudo ao homem de Deus. Ele disse; Vai, vende o azeite e paga ao teu credor. Depois disso, tu e teus filhos vivei do resto.
8 One day as Elisha was on his way to Shunem, a woman of rank who lived there pressed him to stay andeat there. After this he always broke his journey for a meal when he passed that way.	8 Aconteceu também que Eliseu, um dia, passava por Sunam, onde havia uma mulher rica, a qual o deteve para tomar alimento. Depois, todas as vezes que ali passava, ia pousar em sua casa, para tomar a sua refeição.
9 She said to her husband, 'Look, I am sure the man who is constantly passing our way must be a holyman of God.	9 disse ao seu marido: Tenho observado que este homem, que passa tantas vezes por nossa casa, é um santo homem de Deus.
10 Let us build him a smal wal ed room, and put him a bed in it, and a table and chair and lamp;whenever he comes to us he can rest there.'	10 Façamos-lhe, pois, um pequeno quarto, ponhamos-lhe nele uma cama, uma mesa, uma cadeira e um candeeiro, para que, quando vier a nossa casa, se acomode ali.
11 One day when he came, he retired to the upper room and lay down.	11 Aconteceu que, um dia, Eliseu veio, alojou-se no quarto e descansou nele.
12 He said to his servant Gehazi, 'Cal our Shunammite.' He cal ed her and when she appeared, Elishasaid,	12 E disse a Giezi, seu criado: Chama esta Sunamita. Tendo-a ele chamado, e estando ela em pé diante dele,
13 'Tell her this: "Look, you have gone to al this trouble for us, what can we do for you? Is there anythingyou would like said for you to the king or to the commander of the army?" ' But she replied, 'I live with my ownpeople about me.'	13 disse ao seu criado: Dize-lhe: Tu tens-nos tratado com todo o desvelo, que queres que eu te faça? Porventura tens algum negócio, queres que fale ao rei ou ao general dos seus exércitos? Ela respondeu; Eu habito (em paz) no meio do meu povo (por isso não tenho necessidade de recomendações).
14 'What can I do for you then?' he asked. Gehazi replied, 'Wel , she has no son and her husband is old.'	14 E (Eliseu) disse; Que quer, pois, que lhe faça? Giezi respondeu: É escusado perguntar-lho, porque ela não tem filhos, e seu marido é já velho.
15 Elisha said, 'Call her.' The servant cal ed her and she stood at the door.	15 Mandou, pois, que a chamasse. Ele chamou-a, e ela apareceu à porta.
16 'This time next year', he said, 'you wil hold a son in your arms.' But she said, 'No, my lord, do not deceive your servant.'	16 (Eliseu) disse-lhe: (No próximo ano), neste tempo e nesta mesma hora, se Deus te conservar com vida, terás um filho no teu ventre. Ela respondeu: Não queiras, ó meu senhor, ó homem de Deus, não queiras, peço-te, enganar a tua escrava.
17 But the woman did conceive, and she gave birth to a son at the time that Elisha had said she would.	17 Mas a mulher concebeu e deu à luz um filho no mesmo tempo e à mesma hora que Eliseu lhe dissera.
18 The child grew up; one day he went to his father who was with the reapers,	18 E o menino cresceu. Tendo ido um dia ter com seu pai, que estava com os ceifeiros,
19 and exclaimed to his father, 'Oh, my head! My head!' The father told a servant to carry him to hismother.	19 disse a seu pai: Ai! minha cabeça! Ai minha cabeça! O pai disse a um servo: Toma-o e leva-o a sua mãe.
20 He lifted him up and took him to his mother, and the boy lay on her lap until midday, when he died.	20 Tendo o servo pegado nele e levado a sua mãe, ela pô-lo sobre os seus joelhos, até ao meio-dia, e ele morreu.
21 She went upstairs, laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door on him and went out.	21 Ela subiu, pôs o menino em cima da cama do homem de Deus, fechou a porta e saiu.
22 She cal ed her husband and said, 'Send me one of the servants with a donkey. I must hurry to the manof God and back.'	22 Chamou o seu marido e disse-lhe: Manda comigo, te peço, um dos servos e uma jumenta, para eu ir com pressa ter com o homem de Deus, e voltarei (sem demora).
23 'Why go to him today?' he asked. 'It is not New Moon or Sabbath.' But she replied, 'Never mind.'	23 Ele disse-lhe: Por que vais ter com ele? Hoje não é dia de lua nova, nem Sábado. Ela respondeu: Está tranquilo.
24 She had the donkey saddled and said to her servant, 'Lead on, go! Do not draw rein until I give theorder.'	24 Mandou aparelhar a jumenta e ordenou ao servo: Conduze-me, apressa-te, não me demores no caminho, sem eu to ordenar.
25 She set off and made her way to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When the man of God saw her inthe distance, he said to his servant Gehazi, 'Look, here comes our Shunammite!	25 Partiu, pois, e foi ter com o homem de Deus ao monte Carmelo. O homem de Deus, tendo-a visto vir para ele, disse para o criado Giezi: Eis aí vem aquela Sunamita.
26 Now run and meet her and ask her, "Are you wel ? Is your husband well? Your child well?" ' 'Yes,' shereplied.	26 Vai recebê-la e dize-lhe; Passais bem, tu, teu marido e teu filho? Ela respondeu: Muito bem.
27 When she came to the man of God there on the mountain, she took hold of his feet. Gehazi steppedforward to push her away, but the man of God said, 'Leave her; there is bitterness in her soul and Yahweh hashidden it from me, he has not told me.'	27 Quando, porém, chegou junto do homem de Deus, no monte, abraçou os seus pés. Gliezi aproximou-se para a retirar, mas o homem de Deus disse-lhe: Deixa-a, porque a sua alma está em amargura, e o Senhor mo encobriu, nada me manifestou.
28 She said, 'Did I ask my lord for a son? Did I not say: Don't deceive me?'	28 Ela disse-lhe: Porventura pedi-te eu algum filho, meu senhor? Não te disse eu: Não me enganes?
29 Elisha said to Gehazi, 'Hitch up your clothes, take my staff in your hand and go. If you meet anyone, donot greet him; if anyone greets you, do not answer him. You are to stretch out my staff over the child.'	29 Eliseu disse a Giezi: Cinge os teus rins, toma meu bordão na mão, e parte. Se encontrares alguém, não o saudes; se alguém te saudar, não lhe respondas. Porás o meu bordão sobre o rosto do menino.
30 But the child's mother said, 'As Yahweh lives and as you yourself live, I wil not leave you.' Then hestood up and followed her.	30 Mas a mãe do menino disse: Viva o Senhor e viva a tua alma, que não te deixarei. Partiu ele, pois, e seguiu-a.
31 Gehazi had gone ahead of them and had stretched out the staff over the child, but there was no soundor response. He went back to meet Elisha and told him. 'The child has not woken up,' he said.	31 Ora Giezi tinha ido adiante deles, e tinha posto o bordão de Eliseu sobre o rosto do menino, mas ele não tinha nem fala, nem sentidos. Voltou a encontrar-se com ele, e Iho noticiou, dizendo: O menino não ressuscitou.
32 Elisha then went to the house, and there on his bed lay the child, dead.	32 Entrou, pois, Eliseu na casa, e o menino estava morto em cima da sua cama.
33 He went in and shut the door on the two of them and prayed to Yahweh.	33 Depois de entrar, cerrou a porta sobre si e sobre o menino, e fez oração ao Senhor.
34 Then he climbed on to the bed and stretched himself on top of the child, putting his mouth on hismouth, his eyes to his eyes, and his hands on his hands, and as he lowered himself on to him, the child's fleshgrew warm.	34 Depois subiu (à cama), deitou-se sobre o menino, pôs a sua boca sobre a boca dele, os seus olhos sobre os olhos dele, as suas mãos sobre as mãos dele. Enquanto ele estava assim estendido, a carne do menino aqueceu-se.
35 Then he got up and walked to and fro inside the house, and then climbed on to the bed again andlowered himself on to the child seven times in al ; then the child sneezed and opened his eyes.	35 Depois, descendo (ao leito), Eliseu deu algumas voltas pela casa, subiu (outra vez) e estendeu-se sobre ele; e o menino bocejou sete vezes, e abriu os olhos.
36 He then summoned Gehazi. 'Cal our Shunammite,' he said. He cal ed her. When she came to him, hesaid, 'Pick up your son.'	36 Então ele chamou Giezi e disse-lhe: Chama essa Sunamita. Ela, sendo chamada, entrou no quarto onde ele estava. (Eliseu) disse-lhe: Toma o teu filho.
37 She went in and, fal ing at his feet, prostrated herself on the floor and then picked up her son and wentout.	37 Ela foi, lançou-se a seus pés, prostrou-se por terra, tomou seu filho e saiu.
38 Elisha went back to Gilgal while there was famine in the country. As the brotherhood of prophets weresitting with him, he said to his servant, 'Put the large pot on the fire and cook some soup for the brotherhood.'	38 Eliseu voltou para Galgala. Ora neste país havia fome. Como os filhos dos profetas habitavam com ele, disse a um dos seus criados: Pega numa panela grande e faze de comer para os filhos dos profetas.
39 One of them went into the fields to gather herbs and came on some wild vine, off which he gatheredenough gourds to fil his lap. On his return, he cut them up into the pot of soup; they did not know what theywere.	39 Um deles saiu ao campo, para apanhar umas ervas silvestres, e encontrou uma como parra silvestre; colheu dela coloquíntidas dos campo, encheu a sua capa e, tendo voltado, cortou-as em pedaços dentro da panela do caldo, porque não conhecia o que era.
40 They then poured the soup out for the men to eat, but they had no sooner tasted the soup than theycried, 'Man of God, there is death in the pot!' And they could not eat it.	40 Deram delas aos companheiros para comerem. Eles, tendo provado do cozido, gritaram, dizendo: Homem de Deus, a panela tem coisa mortífera. E não puderam comer.
41 'Bring some meal then,' Elisha said. This he threw into the pot, and said, 'Pour out, for the company toeat!' And there was nothing harmful in the pot.	41 Mas ele disse: Trazei-me farinha. Tendo-lha trazido, lançou-a na panela e disse: Deita à gente, para que coma. E não houve mais nada ruim na panela.
42 A man came from Baal-Shalishah, bringing the man of God bread from the first-fruits, twenty barleyloaves and fresh grain stil in the husk. 'Give it to the company to eat,' Elisha said.	42 Veio também um homem de Baalsalisa, que trazia ao homem de Deus uns pães das primícias, vinte pães de cevada e trigo novo no seu alforje. Eliseu disse: Dá ao povo, para que coma.
43 But his servant replied, 'How can I serve this to a hundred men?' 'Give it to the company to eat,' heinsisted, 'for Yahweh says this, "They wil eat and have some left over." '	43 O seu criado respondeu-lhe: Que é isto para eu o pôr diante de cem pessoas? Eliseu disse outra vez: Dá ao povo, para que coma, porque eis o que diz o Senhor: Comerão, e sobejará.
44 He served them; they ate and had some left over, as Yahweh had said.	44 Pôs-lhos, pois, diante; comeram, e ainda sobrou, conforme a palavra do Senhor.
