Genesis 6

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 When people began being numerous on earth, and daughters had been born to them,	1 Cuando los hombres comenzaron a multiplicarse sobre la tierra y les nacieron hijas,
2 the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them asthey chose.	2 los hijos de Dios vieron que estas eran hermosas, y tomaron como mujeres a todas las que quisieron.
3 Yahweh said, 'My spirit cannot be indefinitely responsible for human beings, who are only flesh; let thetime al owed each be a hundred and twenty years.'	3 Entonces el Señor dijo: «Mi espíritu no va a permanecer activo para siempre en el hombre, porque este no es más que carne; por eso no vivirá más de ciento veinte años».
4 The Nephilim were on earth in those days (and even afterwards) when the sons of God resorted to thewomen, and had children by them. These were the heroes of days gone by, men of renown.	4 En aquellos días –y aún después– cuando los hijos de Dios se unieron con las hijas de los hombres y ellas tuvieron hijos, había en la tierra gigantes: estos fueron los héroes famosos de la antigüedad.
5 Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing butwicked schemes al day long.	5 Cuando el Señor vio qué grande era la maldad del hombre en la tierra y cómo todos los designios que forjaba su mente tendían constantemente al mal,
6 Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart.	6 se arrepintió de haber hecho al hombre sobre la tierra, y sintió pesar en su corazón.
7 And Yahweh said, 'I shal rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I created -- humanand animal, the creeping things and the birds of heaven -- for I regret having made them.'	7 Por eso el Señor dijo: «Voy a eliminar de la superficie del suelo a los hombres que he creado –y junto con ellos a las bestias, los reptiles y los pájaros del cielo– porque me arrepiento de haberlos hecho».
8 But Noah won Yahweh's favour.	8 Pero Noé fue agradable a los ojos del Señor.
9 This is the story of Noah: Noah was a good man, an upright man among his contemporaries, and hewalked with God.	9 Esta es la historia de Noé. Noé era un hombre justo, irreprochable entre sus contemporáneos, y siguió siempre los caminos de Dios.
10 Noah fathered three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.	10 Tuvo tres hijos: Sem, Cam y Jafet.
11 God saw that the earth was corrupt and ful of lawlessness.	11 Pero la tierra estaba pervertida a los ojos de Dios y se había llenado de violencia.
12 God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of al living things on earth.	12 Al ver que la tierra se había pervertido, porque todos los hombres tenían una conducta depravada.
13 God said to Noah, 'I have decided that the end has come for al living things, for the earth is full oflawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth.	13 Dios dijo a Noé: «He decidido acabar con todos los mortales, porque la tierra se ha llenado de violencia a causa de ellos. Por eso los voy a destruir junto con la tierra.
14 Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.	14 Constrúyete un arca de madera resinosa, divídela en compartimientos, y recúbrela con betún por dentro y por fuera.
15 This is how to make it: the length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, andits height thirty cubits.	15 Deberás hacerla así: el arca tendrá ciento cincuenta metros de largo, treinta de ancho y quince de alto.
16 Make a roof to the ark, building it up to a cubit higher. Put the entrance in the side of the ark, which isto be made with lower, second and third decks.	16 También le harás un tragaluz y lo terminarás a medio metro de la parte superior. Pondrás la puerta al costado del arca y harás un primero, un segundo y un tercer piso.
17 'For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy al living things having thebreath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish.	17 Yo voy a enviar a la tierra las aguas del Diluvio, para destruir completamente a todos los seres que tienen un aliento de vida: todo lo que hay en la tierra perecerá.
18 But with you I shal establish my covenant and you wil go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, yourwife, and your sons' wives along with you.	18 Pero contigo estableceré mi alianza: tú entrarás en el arca con tus hijos, tu mujer y las mujeres de tus hijos.
19 From al living creatures, from al living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to savetheir lives with yours; they must be a male and a female.	19 También harás entrar en el arca una pareja de cada especie de seres vivientes, de todo lo que es carne, para que sobrevivan contigo; deberán ser un macho y una hembra.
20 Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along theground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.	20 Irá contigo una pareja de cada especie de pájaros, de ganado y de reptiles, para que puedan sobrevivir.
21 For your part, provide yourself with eatables of al kinds, and lay in a store of them, to serve as foodfor yourself and them.'	21 Además, recoge víveres de toda clase y almacénalos, para que te sirvan de alimento, a ti y a ellos».
22 Noah did this; exactly as God commanded him, he did.	22 Así lo hizo Noé, cumpliendo exactamente todo lo que Dios le había mandado.
