Genesis 37

NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 But Jacob settled in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Canaan.	1 Jakob ließ sich in dem Land nieder, in dem sich sein Vater als Fremder aufgehalten hatte, in Kanaan.
2 This is the story of Joseph. Joseph was seventeen years old. As he was young, he was shepherdingthe flock with his brothers, with the sons of his father's wives, Bilhah and Zilpah; and Joseph brought his fatherbad reports about them.	2 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Jakob: Als Josef siebzehn Jahre zählte, also noch jung war, weidete er mit seinen Brüdern, den Söhnen Bilhas und Silpas, der Frauen seines Vaters, die Schafe und Ziegen. Josef hinterbrachte ihrem Vater, was die Brüder Böses taten.
3 Jacob loved Joseph more than al his other sons, for he was the son of his old age, and he had adecorated tunic made for him.	3 Israel liebte Josef unter allen seinen Söhnen am meisten, weil er ihm noch in hohem Alter geboren worden war. Er ließ ihm einen Ärmelrock machen.
4 But his brothers, seeing how much more his father loved him than all his other sons, came to hate himso much that they could not say a civil word to him.	4 Als seine Brüder sahen, dass ihr Vater ihn mehr liebte als alle seine Brüder, hassten sie ihn und konnten mit ihm kein gutes Wort mehr reden.
5 Now Joseph had a dream, and he repeated it to his brothers, who then hated him more than ever.	5 Einst hatte Josef einen Traum. Als er ihn seinen Brüdern erzählte, hassten sie ihn noch mehr.
6 'Listen', he said, 'to the dream I had.	6 Er sagte zu ihnen: Hört, was ich geträumt habe.
7 We were binding sheaves in the field, when my sheaf suddenly rose and stood upright, and then yoursheaves gathered round and bowed to my sheaf.'	7 Wir banden Garben mitten auf dem Feld. Meine Garbe richtete sich auf und blieb auch stehen. Eure Garben umringten sie und neigten sich tief vor meiner Garbe.
8 'So you want to be king over us,' his brothers retorted, 'you want to lord it over us?' And they hatedhim even more, on account of his dreams and of what he said.	8 Da sagten seine Brüder zu ihm: Willst du etwa König über uns werden oder dich als Herr über uns aufspielen? Und sie hassten ihn noch mehr wegen seiner Träume und seiner Worte.
9 He had another dream which he recounted to his brothers. 'Look, I have had another dream,' he said.'There were the sun, the moon and eleven stars, bowing down to me.'	9 Er hatte noch einen anderen Traum. Er erzählte ihn seinen Brüdern und sagte: Ich träumte noch einmal: Die Sonne, der Mond und elf Sterne verneigten sich tief vor mir.
10 He told his father and brothers, and his father scolded him. 'A fine dream to have!' he said to him.'Are all of us then, myself, your mother and your brothers, to come and bow to the ground before you?'	10 Als er davon seinem Vater und seinen Brüdern erzählte, schalt ihn sein Vater und sagte zu ihm: Was soll das, was du da geträumt hast? Sollen wir vielleicht, ich, deine Mutter und deine Brüder, kommen und uns vor dir zur Erde niederwerfen?
11 His brothers held it against him, but his father pondered the matter.	11 Seine Brüder waren eifersüchtig auf ihn, sein Vater aber vergaß die Sache nicht.
12 His brothers went to pasture their father's flock at Shechem.	12 Als seine Brüder fortgezogen waren, um das Vieh ihres Vaters bei Sichem zu weiden,
13 Then Israel said to Joseph, 'Your brothers are with the flock at Shechem, aren't they? Come, I amgoing to send you to them.' 'I am ready,' he replied.	13 sagte Israel zu Josef: Deine Brüder weiden bei Sichem das Vieh. Geh, ich will dich zu ihnen schicken. Er antwortete: Ich bin bereit.
14 He said to him, 'Go and see how your brothers and the flock are doing, and bring me word.' He senthim from the val ey of Hebron, and Joseph arrived at Shechem.	14 Da sagte der Vater zu ihm: Geh doch hin und sieh, wie es deinen Brüdern und dem Vieh geht, und berichte mir! So schickte er ihn aus dem Tal von Hebron fort und Josef kam nach Sichem.
15 A man found him wandering in the countryside and asked him, 'What are you looking for ? '	15 Ein Mann traf ihn, wie er auf dem Feld umherirrte; er fragte ihn: Was suchst du?
16 'I am looking for my brothers,' he replied. 'Please tel me where they are pasturing their flock.'	16 Josef antwortete: Meine Brüder suche ich. Sag mir doch, wo sie das Vieh weiden.
17 The man answered, 'They have moved on from here; indeed I heard them say, "Let us go toDothan." ' So Joseph went after his brothers and found them at Dothan.	17 Der Mann antwortete: Sie sind von hier weitergezogen. Ich habe nämlich gehört, wie sie sagten: Gehen wir nach Dotan. Da ging Josef seinen Brüdern nach und fand sie in Dotan.
18 They saw him in the distance, and before he reached them they made a plot to kil him.	18 Sie sahen ihn von weitem. Bevor er jedoch nahe an sie herangekommen war, fassten sie den Plan, ihn umzubringen.
19 'Here comes that dreamer,' they said to one another.	19 Sie sagten zueinander: Dort kommt ja dieser Träumer.
20 'Come on, let us kil him now and throw him down one of the storage-wells; we can say that somewild animal has devoured him. Then we shal see what becomes of his dreams.'	20 Jetzt aber auf, erschlagen wir ihn und werfen wir ihn in eine der Zisternen. Sagen wir, ein wildes Tier habe ihn gefressen. Dann werden wir ja sehen, was aus seinen Träumen wird.
21 But Reuben heard, and he saved him from their clutches. 'We must not take his life,' he said.	21 Ruben hörte das und wollte ihn aus ihrer Hand retten. Er sagte: Begehen wir doch keinen Mord.
22 'Shed no blood,' said Reuben to them, 'throw him down that wel out in the desert, but do not kil himyourselves' -- intending to save him from them and to restore him to his father.	22 Und Ruben sagte zu ihnen: Vergießt kein Blut! Werft ihn in die Zisterne da in der Steppe, aber legt nicht Hand an ihn! Er wollte ihn nämlich aus ihrer Hand retten und zu seinem Vater zurückbringen.
23 So, when Joseph reached his brothers, they pul ed off his tunic, the decorated tunic which he waswearing,	23 Als Josef bei seinen Brüdern angekommen war, zogen sie ihm sein Gewand aus, den Ärmelrock, den er anhatte,
24 and catching hold of him, threw him into the wel . The wel was empty, with no water in it.	24 packten ihn und warfen ihn in die Zisterne. Die Zisterne war leer; es war kein Wasser darin.
25 They then sat down to eat. Looking up, they saw a group of Ishmaelites who were coming fromGilead, their camels laden with gum tragacanth, balsam and resin, which they were taking to Egypt.	25 Als sie dann beim Essen saßen und aufblickten, sahen sie, dass gerade eine Karawane von Ismaelitern aus Gilead kam. Ihre Kamele waren mit Tragakant, Mastix und Ladanum beladen. Sie waren unterwegs nach Ägypten.
26 Then Judah said to his brothers, 'What do we gain by killing our brother and covering up his blood?	26 Da schlug Juda seinen Brüdern vor: Was haben wir davon, wenn wir unseren Bruder erschlagen und sein Blut zudecken?
27 Come, let us sel him to the Ishmaelites, then we shal not have laid hands on him ourselves. Afteral , he is our brother, and our own flesh.' His brothers agreed.	27 Kommt, verkaufen wir ihn den Ismaelitern. Wir wollen aber nicht Hand an ihn legen, denn er ist doch unser Bruder und unser Verwandter. Seine Brüder waren einverstanden.
28 Now some Midianite merchants were passing, and they pul ed Joseph out of the wel . They soldJoseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver, and these men took Joseph to Egypt.	28 Midianitische Kaufleute kamen vorbei. Da zogen sie Josef aus der Zisterne heraus und verkauften ihn für zwanzig Silberstücke an die Ismaeliter. Diese brachten Josef nach Ägypten.
29 When Reuben went back to the wel , there was no sign of Joseph. Tearing his clothes,	29 Als Ruben zur Zisterne zurückkam, war Josef nicht mehr dort. Er zerriss seine Kleider,
30 he went back to his brothers. 'The boy has gone,' he said. 'What am I going to do?'	30 wandte sich an seine Brüder und sagte: Der Kleine ist ja nicht mehr da. Und ich, was soll ich jetzt anfangen?
31 They took Joseph's tunic and, slaughtering a goat, dipped the tunic in the blood.	31 Da nahmen sie Josefs Gewand, schlachteten einen Ziegenbock und tauchten das Gewand in das Blut.
32 Then they sent off the decorated tunic and had it taken to their father, with the message, 'This iswhat we have found. Do you recognise it as your son's tunic or not?'	32 Dann schickten sie den Ärmelrock zu ihrem Vater und ließen ihm sagen: Das haben wir gefunden. Sieh doch, ob das der Rock deines Sohnes ist oder nicht.
33 He recognised it and cried, 'My son's tunic! A wild animal has devoured him! Joseph has been torn topieces!'	33 Als er ihn angesehen hatte, sagte er: Der Rock meines Sohnes! Ein wildes Tier hat ihn gefressen. Zerrissen, zerrissen ist Josef.
34 Tearing his clothes and putting sackcloth round his waist, Jacob mourned his son for many days.	34 Jakob zerriss seine Kleider, legte Trauerkleider an und trauerte um seinen Sohn viele Tage.
35 Al his sons and daughters tried to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. 'No,' he said, 'I wilgo down to Sheol in mourning and join my son.' Thus his father wept for him.	35 Alle seine Söhne und Töchter machten sich auf, um ihn zu trösten. Er aber ließ sich nicht trösten und sagte: Ich will dauernd zu meinem Sohn in die Unterwelt hinabsteigen. So beweinte ihn sein Vater.
36 Meanwhile the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh's officials andcommander of the guard.	36 Die Midianiter aber verkauften Josef nach Ägypten an Potifar, einen Hofbeamten des Pharao, den Obersten der Leibwache.
