1 Thus should one regard us: as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.	1 Ci si consideri pertanto come ministri di Cristo e amministratori dei misteri di Dio;
2 Now it is of course required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.	2 Ciò posto, dagli amministratori non altro si esige se non che si mostrino fedeli.
3 It does not concern me in the least that I be judged by you or any human tribunal; I do not even pass judgment on myself;	3 E quanto a me, m’importa assai poco d’essere giudicato da voi o da tribunale umano. Anzi, io non giudico neppure me stesso;
4 I am not conscious of anything against me, but I do not thereby stand acquitted; the one who judges me is the Lord.	4 poiché, anche se non mi sento colpevole di nulla, non per questo sono giustificato. Chi mi giudica è solo il Signore.
5 Therefore, do not make any judgment before the appointed time, until the Lord comes, for he will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will manifest the motives of our hearts, and then everyone will receive praise from God.	5 Perciò, non vogliate giudicare innanzi tempo di cosa alcuna, finché non venga il Signore. Egli metterà in luce i segreti delle tenebre e farà palesi i disegni dei cuori; e allora ciascuno si avrà da parte di Dio la sua lode.
6 I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written, so that none of you will be inflated with pride in favor of one person over against another.	6 Queste cose, o fratelli, io le ho applicate a mo’ d'esempio a me e ad Apollo per riguardo a voi, affinché da noi stessi impariate a non eccedere oltre ciò che sta scritto e a non fare gli insolenti né in favore di uno, né contro l’altro.
7 Who confers distinction upon you? What do you possess that you have not received? But if you have received it, why are you boasting as if you did not receive it?	7 Chi infatti ti concede vantaggio sugli altri? e che cosa hai tu che non l’abbia ricevuto? e se appunto l’hai ricevuto, perché ne meni vanto, come se non l’avessi ricevuto?
8 You are already satisfied; you have already grown rich; you have become kings without us! Indeed, I wish that you had become kings, so that we also might become kings with you.	8 Voi siete dunque bell’e sazi! Siete già diventati ricchi! Senza di noi avete ottenuto il regno! Oh! così l’aveste ottenuto, affinché noi pure cominciassimo a regnare insieme con voi!
9 For as I see it, God has exhibited us apostles as the last of all, like people sentenced to death, since we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and human beings alike.	9 E di noi, che siamo gli apostoli, Iddio ha fatto, a quanto mi sembra, gli ultimi, quasi dei condannati a morte, diventati come siamo uno spettacolo per il mondo, per gli angeli e per gli uomini.
10 We are fools on Christ's account, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are held in honor, but we in disrepute.	10 Noi siamo folli per causa di Cristo, ma voi siete sapienti in Cristo; noi siamo deboli, voi, invece, forti; voi siete illustri, noi, all’opposto, senza onore!
11 To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clad and roughly treated, we wander about homeless	11 Fino al momento, presente, noi patiamo la fame e soffriamo la sete e siamo nudi e veniamo schiaffeggiati e andiamo randagi
12 and we toil, working with our own hands. When ridiculed, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;	12 e fatichiamo lavorando con le nostre proprie mani. Svillaneggiati, auguriamo del bene; perseguitati, sopportiamo;
13 when slandered, we respond gently. We have become like the world's rubbish, the scum of all, to this very moment.	13 oltraggiati, rispondiamo con parole dolci; siamo diventati come la spazzatura del mondo, il rifiuto di tutti fino al presente!
14 I am writing you this not to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.	14 Non vi scrivo questo per. farvi arrossire, ma per ammonirvi quali miei figlioli diletti.
15 Even if you should have countless guides to Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.	15 Poiché, se anche aveste diecimila pedagoghi in Cristo non avete però molti padri: son io, che per mezzo dell’evangelo vi generai in Cristo Gesù.
16 Therefore, I urge you, be imitators of me.	16 Ve ne scongiuro, dunque: seguite il mio esempio.
17 For this reason I am sending you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord; he will remind you of my ways in Christ (Jesus), just as I teach them everywhere in every church.	17 Appunto per questo vi ho mandato Timoteo, un mio figliolo carissimo e fedele nel Signore. Egli vi rammenterà le mie norme di condotta in Cristo, così come le insegno da per tutto, in ogni Chiesa.
18 Some have become inflated with pride, as if I were not coming to you.	18 Taluni, però, come se non intendessi venire da voi, si sono fatti insolenti.
19 But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I shall ascertain not the talk of these inflated people but their power.	19 E invece, verrò presto da voi, se piacerà al Signore, e avrò modo di conoscere non le parole, ma la potenza di codesti insolenti;
20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.	20 poiché il regno di Dio non consiste in parole, ma in potenza.
21 Which do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a gentle spirit?	21 Che preferite? Che io venga da voi col bastone, ovvero con amore e spirito di mansuetudine?
