Deuteronomy 34

1 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, the headland of Pisgah which faces Jericho, and the LORD showed him all the land-Gilead, and as far as Dan,	1 Mose stieg aus den Steppen von Moab hinauf auf den Nebo, den Gipfel des Pisga gegenüber Jericho, und der Herr zeigte ihm das ganze Land. Er zeigte ihm Gilead bis nach Dan hin,
2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea,	2 ganz Naftali, das Gebiet von Efraim und Manasse, ganz Juda bis zum Mittelmeer,
3 the Negeb, the circuit of the Jordan with the lowlands at Jericho, city of palms, and as far as Zoar.	3 den Negeb und die Jordangegend, den Talgraben von Jericho, der Palmenstadt, bis Zoar.
4 The LORD then said to him, "This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that I would give to their descendants. I have let you feast your eyes upon it, but you shall not cross over."	4 Der Herr sagte zu ihm: Das ist das Land, das ich Abraham, Isaak und Jakob versprochen habe mit dem Schwur: Deinen Nachkommen werde ich es geben. Ich habe es dich mit deinen Augen schauen lassen. Hinüberziehen wirst du nicht.
5 So there, in the land of Moab, Moses, the servant of the LORD, died as the LORD had said;	5 Danach starb Mose, der Knecht des Herrn, dort in Moab, wie es der Herr bestimmt hatte.
6 and he was buried in the ravine opposite Beth-peor in the land of Moab, but to this day no one knows the place of his burial.	6 Man begrub ihn im Tal, in Moab, gegenüber Bet-Pegor. Bis heute kennt niemand sein Grab.
7 Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were undimmed and his vigor unabated.	7 Mose war hundertzwanzig Jahre alt, als er starb. Sein Auge war noch nicht getrübt, seine Frische war noch nicht geschwunden.
8 For thirty days the Israelites wept for Moses in the plains of Moab, till they had completed the period of grief and mourning for Moses.	8 Die Israeliten beweinten Mose dreißig Tage lang in den Steppen von Moab. Danach war die Zeit des Weinens und der Klage um Mose beendet.
9 Now Joshua, son of Nun, was filled with the spirit of wisdom, since Moses had laid his hands upon him; and so the Israelites gave him their obedience, thus carrying out the LORD'S command to Moses.	9 Josua, der Sohn Nuns, war vom Geist der Weisheit erfüllt, denn Mose hatte ihm die Hände aufgelegt. Die Israeliten hörten auf ihn und taten, was der Herr dem Mose aufgetragen hatte.
10 Since then no prophet has arisen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face.	10 Niemals wieder ist in Israel ein Prophet wie Mose aufgetreten. Ihn hat der Herr Auge in Auge berufen.
11 He had no equal in all the signs and wonders the LORD sent him to perform in the land of Egypt against Pharaoh and all his servants and against all his land,	11 Keiner ist ihm vergleichbar, wegen all der Zeichen und Wunder, die er in Ägypten im Auftrag des Herrn am Pharao, an seinem ganzen Hof und an seinem ganzen Land getan hat,
12 and for the might and the terrifying power that Moses exhibited in the sight of all Israel.	12 wegen all der Beweise seiner starken Hand und wegen all der Furcht erregenden und großen Taten, die Mose vor den Augen von ganz Israel vollbracht hat.
