1 At that time Jesus was going through a field of grain on the sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.	1 En aquel tiempo cruzaba Jesús un sábado por los sembrados. Y sus discípulos sintieron hambre y se pusieron a arrancar espigas y a comerlas.
2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "See, your disciples are doing what is unlawful to do on the sabbath."	2 Al verlo los fariseos, le dijeron: «Mira, tus discípulos hacen lo que no es lícito hacer en sábado».
3 He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry,	3 Pero él les dijo: «¿No habéis leído lo que hizo David cuando sintió hambre él y los que le acompañaban,
4 how he went into the house of God and ate the bread of offering, which neither he nor his companions but only the priests could lawfully eat?	4 cómo entró en la Casa de Dios y comieron los panes de la Presencia, que no le era lícito comer a él, ni a sus compañeros, sino sólo a los sacerdotes?
5 Or have you not read in the law that on the sabbath the priests serving in the temple violate the sabbath and are innocent?	5 ¿Tampoco habéis leído en la Ley que en día de sábado los sacerdotes, en el Templo, quebrantan el sábado sin incurrir en culpa?
6 I say to you, something greater than the temple is here.	6 Pues yo os digo que hay aquí algo mayor que el Templo.
7 If you knew what this meant, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned these innocent men.	7 Si hubieseis comprendido lo que significa aquello de: Misericordia quiero, que no sacrificio, no condenaríais a los que no tienen culpa.
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath."	8 Porque el Hijo del hombre es señor del sábado».
9 Moving on from there, he went into their synagogue.	9 Pasó de allí y se fue a la sinagoga de ellos.
10 And behold, there was a man there who had a withered hand. They questioned him, "Is it lawful to cure on the sabbath?" so that they might accuse him.	10 Había allí un hombre que tenía una mano seca. Y le preguntaron si era lícito curar en sábado, para poder acusarle.
11 He said to them, "Which one of you who has a sheep that falls into a pit on the sabbath will not take hold of it and lift it out?	11 El les dijo: «¿Quién de vosotros que tenga una sola oveja, si ésta cae en un hoyo en sábado, no la agarra y la saca?
12 How much more valuable a person is than a sheep. So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath."	12 Pues, ¡cuánto más vale un hombre que una oveja! Por tanto, es lícito hacer bien en sábado».
13 Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and it was restored as sound as the other.	13 Entonces dice al hombre: «Extiende tu mano». El la extendió, y quedó restablecida, sana como la otra.
14 But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him to put him to death.	14 Pero los fariseos, en cuanto salieron, se confabularon contra él para ver cómo eliminarle.
15 When Jesus realized this, he withdrew from that place. Many (people) followed him, and he cured them all,	15 Jesús, al saberlo, se retiró de allí. Le siguieron muchos y los curó a todos.
16 but he warned them not to make him known.	16 Y les mandó enérgicamente que no le descubrieran;
17 This was to fulfill what had been spoken through Isaiah the prophet:	17 para que se cumpliera el oráculo del profeta Isaías:
18 "Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I shall place my spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.	18 He aquí mi Siervo, a quien elegí, mi Amado, en quien mi alma se complace. Pondré mi Espíritu sobre él, y anunciará el juicio a las naciones.
19 He will not contend or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.	19 No disputará ni gritará, ni oirá nadie en las plazas su voz.
20 A bruised reed he will not break, a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory.	20 La caña cascada no la quebrará, ni apagará la mecha humeante, hasta que lleve a la victoria el juicio:
21 And in his name the Gentiles will hope."	21 en su nombre pondrán las naciones su esperanza.
22 Then they brought to him a demoniac who was blind and mute. He cured the mute person so that he could speak and see.	22 Entonces le fue presentado un endemoniado ciego y mudo. Y le curó, de suerte que el mudo hablaba y veía.
23 All the crowd was astounded, and said, "Could this perhaps be the Son of David?"	23 Y toda la gente atónita decía: «¿No será éste el Hijo de David?»
24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "This man drives out demons only by the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons."	24 Mas los fariseos, al oírlo, dijeron: «Este no expulsa los demonios más que por Beelzebul, Príncipe de los demonios».
25 But he knew what they were thinking and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and no town or house divided against itself will stand.	25 El, conociendo sus pensamientos, les dijo: «Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo queda asolado, y toda ciudad o casa dividida contra sí misma no podrá subsistir.
26 And if Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand?	26 Si Satanás expulsa a Satanás, contra sí mismo está dividido: ¿cómo, pues, va a subsistir su reino?
27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own people drive them out? Therefore they will be your judges.	27 Y si yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul, ¿por quién los expulsan vuestros hijos? Por eso, ellos serán vuestros jueces.
28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.	28 Pero si por el Espíritu de Dios expulso yo los demonios, es que ha llegado a vosotros el Reino de Dios.
29 How can anyone enter a strong man's house and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.	29 «O, ¿cómo puede uno entrar en la casa del fuerte y saquear su ajuar, si no ata primero al fuerte? Entonces podrá saquear su casa.
30 Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.	30 «El que no está conmigo, está contra mí, y el que no recoge conmigo, desparrama.
31 Therefore, I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.	31 «Por eso os digo: Todo pecado y blasfemia se perdonará a los hombres, pero la blasfemia contra el Espíritu no será perdonada.
32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.	32 Y al que diga una palabra contra el Hijo del hombre, se le perdonará; pero al que la diga contra el Espíritu Santo, no se le perdonará ni en este mundo ni en el otro.
33 "Either declare the tree good and its fruit is good, or declare the tree rotten and its fruit is rotten, for a tree is known by its fruit.	33 «Suponed un árbol bueno, y su fruto será bueno; suponed un árbol malo, y su fruto será malo; porque por el fruto se conoce el árbol.
34 You brood of vipers, how can you say good things when you are evil? For from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.	34 Raza de víboras, ¿cómo podéis vosotros hablar cosas buenas siendo malos? Porque de lo que rebosa el corazón habla la boca.
35 A good person brings forth good out of a store of goodness, but an evil person brings forth evil out of a store of evil.	35 El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro saca cosas buenas y el hombre malo, del tesoro malo saca cosas malas.
36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will render an account for every careless word they speak.	36 Os digo que de toda palabra ociosa que hablen los hombres darán cuenta en el día del Juicio.
37 By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."	37 Porque por tus palabras serás declarado justo y por tus palabras serás condenado».
38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you."	38 Entonces le interpelaron algunos escribas y fariseos: «Maestro, queremos ver una señal hecha por ti».
39 He said to them in reply, "An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.	39 Mas él les respondió: «¡Generación malvada y adúltera! Una señal pide, y no se le dará otra señal que la señal del profeta Jonás.
40 Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.	40 Porque de la misma manera que Jonás estuvo en el vientre del cetáceo tres días y tres noches, así también el Hijo del hombre estará en el seno de la tierra tres días y tres noches.
41 At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here.	41 Los ninivitas se levantarán en el Juicio con esta generación y la condenarán; porque ellos se convirtieron por la predicación de Jonás, y aquí hay algo más que Jonás.
42 At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.	42 La reina del Mediodía se levantará en el Juicio con esta generación y la condenará; porque ella vino de los confines de la tierra a oír la sabiduría de Salomón, y aquí hay algo más que Salomón.
43 "When an unclean spirit goes out of a person it roams through arid regions searching for rest but finds none.	43 «Cuando el espíritu inmundo sale del hombre, anda vagando por lugares áridos en busca de reposo, pero no lo encuentra.
44 Then it says, 'I will return to my home from which I came.' But upon returning, it finds it empty, swept clean, and put in order.	44 Entonces dice: “Me volveré a mi casa, de donde salí.” Y al llegar la encuentra desocupada, barrida y en orden.
45 Then it goes and brings back with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they move in and dwell there; and the last condition of that person is worse than the first. Thus it will be with this evil generation."	45 Entonces va y toma consigo otros siete espíritus peores que él; entran y se instalan allí, y el final de aquel hombre viene a ser peor que el principio. Así le sucederá también a esta generación malvada».
46 While he was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers appeared outside, wishing to speak with him.	46 Todavía estaba hablando a la muchedumbre, cuando su madre y sus hermanos se presentaron fuera y trataban de hablar con él.
47 (Someone told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, asking to speak with you.")	47 Alguien le dijo: «¡Oye! ahí fuera están tu madre y tus hermanos que desean hablarte».
48 But he said in reply to the one who told him, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?"	48 Pero él respondió al que se lo decía: «¿Quién es mi madre y quiénes son mis hermanos?»
49 And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.	49 Y, extendiendo su mano hacia sus discípulos, dijo: «Estos son mi madre y mis hermanos.
50 For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother."	50 Pues todo el que cumpla la voluntad de mi Padre celestial, ése es mi hermano, mi hermana y mi madre».
