1 Then he summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness.	1 Ezután magához hívta a tizenkét tanítványát. Hatalmat adott nekik a tisztátalan lelkek felett, hogy kiűzzék azokat, és meggyógyítsanak minden betegséget és minden bajt.
2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;	2 A tizenkét apostol nevei pedig ezek: az első Simon, akit Péternek neveznek, és András, a testvére,
3 Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus;	3 Jakab, Zebedeus fia, és a testvére, János, Fülöp és Bertalan, Tamás és a vámos Máté, Jakab, Alfeus fia, Tádé,

7 As you go, make this proclamation: 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'	7 Menjetek és hirdessétek: ‘Elközelgett a mennyek országa!’
8 Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.	8 Gyógyítsatok betegeket, támasszatok föl halottakat, tisztítsatok meg leprásokat, űzzetek ki ördögöket! Ingyen kaptátok, ingyen adjátok!
9 Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts;	9 Ne legyen se aranyatok, se ezüstötök, sem rézpénz az övetekben,
10 no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep.	10 sem úti tarisznyátok, se két ingetek, se sarutok, se bototok! Méltó ugyanis a munkás az eledelére.
11 Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave.	11 Ha egy városba vagy faluba bementek, tudakozódjatok, hogy ki az arra méltó benne, és maradjatok nála, amíg tovább nem mentek.
12 As you enter a house, wish it peace.	12 Amikor beléptek a házba, köszöntsétek azt!
13 If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; if not, let your peace return to you.	13 Ha méltó rá a ház, szálljon rá a ti békétek; ha pedig nem méltó, a békétek térjen vissza hozzátok.
14 Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words--go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.	14 Ha pedig valaki nem fogad be titeket, és nem hallgatja meg szavaitokat: menjetek ki abból a házból vagy városból, és rázzátok le a lábatok porát.
15 Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.	15 Bizony, mondom nektek: kíméletesebb sorsa lesz Szodoma és Gomorra földjének az ítélet napján, mint annak a városnak.
16 "Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.	16 Íme, úgy küldelek titeket, mint bárányokat a farkasok közé. Legyetek tehát okosak, mint a kígyók, és egyszerűek, mint a galambok.
17 But beware of people, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues,	17 De óvakodjatok az emberektől! Mert átadnak benneteket a törvényszékeknek, és zsinagógáikban megkorbácsolnak majd titeket.
18 and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans.	18 Helytartókhoz és királyokhoz hurcolnak benneteket miattam, hogy tanúságot tegyetek előttük és a pogányok előtt.
19 When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say.	19 Amikor pedig átadnak titeket, ne aggódjatok előre, hogy hogyan vagy mit beszéljetek. Mert megadatik nektek abban az órában, hogy mit mondjatok.
20 For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.	20 Hiszen nem ti vagytok, akik beszéltek, hanem Atyátok Lelke az, aki beszél általatok.
21 Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.	21 Akkor halálra adja majd a testvér a testvérét és apa a fiát. A gyermekek szüleik ellen támadnak, és halálra juttatják őket.
22 You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved.	22 Gyűlöletesek lesztek mindenki előtt az én nevemért, de aki kitart mindvégig, az üdvözül.
23 When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.	23 Amikor az egyik városban üldöznek titeket, meneküljetek a másikba. 24 No disciple is above his teacher, no slave above his master.	24 Nem nagyobb a tanítvány a mesterénél, sem a szolga uránál.
25 It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, for the slave that he become like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!	25 Elég a tanítványnak, ha olyan lesz, mint a mestere, és a szolgának, mint az ura. Ha a ház urát Belzebulnak nevezték, mennyivel inkább a háza népét?
26 "Therefore do not be afraid of them. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.	26 Ne féljetek tehát tőlük! Mert semmi sincs elrejtve, ami le ne lepleződne, s nincs rejtett dolog, ami ki ne tudódna.
27 What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.	27 Amit sötétben mondok nektek, mondjátok el világosban, és amit fülbe súgva hallotok, hirdessétek a háztetőkről.
28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.	28 Ne féljetek azoktól, akik megölik a testet, de a lelket nem tudják megölni. Féljetek inkább attól, aki a lelket is és a testet is el tudja pusztítani a gyehennában.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's knowledge.	29 Két verebet ugye egy fillérért árulnak? És egy sem esik közülük a földre a ti Atyátok tudta nélkül.
30 Even all the hairs of your head are counted.	30 Nektek azonban még a hajszálaitok is mind meg vannak számlálva a fejeteken.
31 So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.	31 Ne féljetek hát, hisz különbek vagytok ti a verebeknél!
32 Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.	32 Mindazt, aki megvall engem az emberek előtt, én is megvallom Atyám előtt, aki a mennyekben van.
33 But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.	33 De azt, aki megtagad engem az emberek előtt, én is megtagadom Atyám előtt, aki a mennyekben van.
34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword.	34 Ne gondoljátok, hogy békét hozni jöttem a földre. Nem azért jöttem, hogy békét hozzak, hanem kardot.
35 For I have come to set a man 'against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;	35 Azért jöttem, hogy szembeállítsam az embert apjával, a lányt anyjával és a menyet anyósával:
36 and one's enemies will be those of his household.'	36 saját háza népe lesz az ember ellensége.
37 "Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;	37 Aki jobban szereti apját vagy anyját, mint engem, nem méltó hozzám. Aki jobban szereti fiát vagy lányát, mint engem, nem méltó hozzám.
38 and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.	38 Aki nem veszi föl keresztjét és nem követ engem, nem méltó hozzám.
39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.	39 Aki megtalálta életét, elveszíti azt, és aki elvesztette az életét énértem, megtalálja azt.
40 "Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.	40 Aki befogad titeket, engem fogad be, és aki engem befogad, azt fogadja be, aki küldött engem.
41 Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is righteous will receive a righteous man's reward.	41 Aki befogad egy prófétát, mert próféta, az a próféta jutalmát kapja. Aki befogad egy igazat, mert igaz, az az igaz jutalmát kapja.
42 And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because he is a disciple--amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward."	42 És aki inni ad akár csak egy pohár friss vizet is egynek e legkisebbek közül, mert a tanítványom, bizony, mondom nektek: nem veszíti el jutalmát.«
