1 on the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai:	1 (Começaram) aos vinte e quatro dias do sexto mês, no ano segundo do reinado de Dario.
2 Tell this to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, and to the high priest Joshua, son of Jehozadak, and to the remnant of the people:	2 No sétimo mês, aos vinte e um dias do mês, fez-se ouvir a palavra do Senhor, por intermédio do profeta Ageu, nestes termos:
3 Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it not seem like nothing in your eyes?	3 Fala a Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, governador de Judá, e a Josué, sumo sacerdote, filho de Josedec, e ao resto do povo, assim:
4 But now take courage, Zerubbabel, says the LORD, and take courage, Joshua, high priest, son of Jehozadak, And take courage, all you people of the land, says the LORD, and work! For I am with you, says the LORD of hosts.	4 Quem há dentre os que ficaram de vós, que visse esta casa na sua primeira glória? E em que estado a vedes vós agora? Não parece ela a vossos olhos como uma coisa de nada (comparada com o que foi)?
5 This is the pact that I made with you when you came out of Egypt, And my spirit continues in your midst; do not fear!	5 Todavia ó Zorobabel, cobra força, diz o Senhor; cobra força, ó Josué, sumo sacerdote, filho de Josedec; cobra força, povo inteiro do país, diz o Senhor dos exércitos! Mãos à obra, porque eu sou convosco, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
6 For thus says the LORD of hosts: One moment yet, a little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.	6 Há o pacto que fiz convosco, quando saístes da terra do Egipto; o meu espírito estará no meio de vós. Não temais!
7 I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will come in, And I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.	7 Porque isto diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Ainda um pouco, e eu comoverei o céu e a terra, os mares e os continentes.
8 Mine is the silver and mine the gold, says the LORD of hosts.	8 Abalarei todas as nações, afluirão riquezas de todos os povos, e encherei de glória esta casa, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
9 Greater will be the future glory of this house than the former, says the LORD of hosts; And in this place I will give you peace, says the LORD of hosts.	9 Minha é a prata, meu o ouro, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of King Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Haggai:	10 A glória desta última casa será maior do que a da primeira diz o Senhor dos exércitos e eu darei a paz neste lugar, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
11 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Ask the priests for a decision:	11 Aos vinte e quatro dias do nono mês, no segundo ano do reinado de Dario, foi dirigida ao profeta Ageu a palavra do Senhor, nestes termos:
12 If a man carries sanctified flesh in the fold of his garment and the fold touches bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any other food, do they become sanctified? "No," the priests answered.	12 Isto diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Propõe aos sacerdotes a questão seguinte:
13 Then Haggai said: If a person unclean from contact with a corpse touches any of these, do they become unclean? The priests answered, "They become unclean."	13 Se um homem trouxer na orla do seu vestido um pedaço de carne santificada e tocar com ele no pão, ou nas iguarias, ou no vinho, ou no azeite, ou em qualquer outra coisa de comer, porventura ficará santificada tal coisa? Respondendo os sacerdotes disseram: Não.
14 Then Haggai continued: So is this people, and so is this nation in my sight, says the LORD: And so are all the works of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.	14 Ageu prosseguiu: Se um homem, manchado por ter tocado num cadáver, tocar alguma de todas estas coisas, porventura ficará ela por Isso contaminada? Os sacerdotes, respondendo, disseram: Ficará contaminada.
15 But now, consider from this day forward. Before there was a stone laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD,	15 Então Ageu retomou a palavra e disse: Assim é este povo, assim é esta gente diante da minha face, diz o Senhor, e assim são também todas as obras das suas mãos: tudo o que me oferecem neste lugar está manchado.
16 how did you fare? When one went to a heap of grain for twenty measures, it would yield but ten; When another went to the vat to draw fifty measures, there would be but twenty.	16 Agora reflecti nos vossos corações sobre o que tem acontecido desde este dia para trás, antes que se lançasse pedra sobre pedra no templo do Senhor.
17 I struck you in all the works of your hands with blight, searing wind, and hail, yet you did not return to me, says the LORD.	17 Quando vos aproximáveis dum montão de trigo (que parecia) de vinte medidas, só tinha dez; quando íeis à cuba para tirar cinquenta medidas, não tiráveis mais de vinte.
18 (Consider from this day forward: from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. From the day on which the temple of the LORD was founded, consider!)	18 Eu vos feri com um vento abrasador, e (feri) com ferrugem e saraiva todas as obras das vossas mãos; todavia não houve entre vós quem se voltasse para mim, diz o Senhor.
19 Indeed, the seed has not sprouted, nor have the vine, the fig, the pomegranate and the olive tree yet borne. From this day, I will bless!	19 Gravai nos vossos corações o que há-de suceder desde este dia para futuro, desde este dia vinte e quatro do nono mês, desde este dia, em que foram lançados os alicerces do templo do Senhor; gravai-o no vosso coração.
20 The message of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month:	20 Vede se a semente falta ainda no celeiro, se a vinha, a figueira, a romãzeira e a oliveira continuam improdutivas. Com efeito, a partir deste dia abençoarei tudo.
21 Tell this to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah: I will shake the heavens and the earth;	21 Aos vinte e quatro dias do mês, foi dirigida pela segunda vez a palavra do Senhor a Ageu, a qual dizia:
22 I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms, destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the riders with their horses shall go down by one another's sword.	22 Fala a Zorobabel, governador de Judá, nestes termos: Abalarei o céu e a terra,
23 On that day, says the LORD of hosts, I will take you, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, my servant, says the LORD, And I will set you as a signet ring; for I have chosen you, says the LORD of hosts.	23 farei cair o trono dos reinos, quebrarei a fortaleza dos reinos das gentes; destruirei os carros (de guerra) e os que vão sobre eles; os cavalos e os seus cavaleiros cairão (m ortos); cada um será passado pela espada do seu Irmão.
	24 Naquele dia, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, eu te tomarei (debaixo da minha protecção) ó Zorobabel, meu servo, filho de Salatiel, diz o Senhor, e te guardarei como um sinete, porque te escolhi, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
