NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
1 Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, son of Joseph, had daughters named Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. They came forward,	1 Le figlie di Zelofekhad figlio di Khefer, figlio di Galaad, figlio di Machir, figlio di Manasse, figlio di Giuseppe, le quali si chiamavano Makhia, Noa, Khogla, Milcha e Tirza, si accostarono,
2 and standing in the presence of Moses, the priest Eleazar, the princes, and the whole community at the entrance of the meeting tent, said:	2 si presentarono davanti a Mosè, davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro, davanti ai principi e a tutta la comunità, all’ingresso della Tenda del convegno, e dissero:
3 "Our father died in the desert. Although he did not join those who banded together against the LORD (in Korah's band), he died for his own sin without leaving any sons.	3 «Nostro padre è morto nel deserto. Egli non ha fatto parte della compagnia di coloro che avevano cospirato contro Fee non è stato della compagnia di Korakh. È morto invece a causa del suo peccato e non ha avuto figli.
4 But why should our father's name be withdrawn from his clan merely because he had no son? Let us, therefore, have property among our father's kinsmen."	4 Perché il nome di nostro padre dovrebbe scomparire dalla sua famiglia per il fatto che non ha avuto figli? Dateci una proprietà terriera in mezzo ai fratelli di nostro padre».
5 When Moses laid their case before the LORD,	5 Mosè portò il loro caso al cospetto di Jahvè
6 the LORD said to him,	6 e Jahvè disse a Mosè:
7 "The plea of Zelophehad's daughters is just; you shall give them hereditary property among their father's kinsmen, letting their father's heritage pass on to them.	7 «Le figlie di Leve Fakhad parlano bene. Darai loro una proprietà ereditaria in mezzo ai fratelli del loro padre. A esse farai passare l’eredità del loro padre.
8 Therefore, tell the Israelites: If a man dies without leaving a son, you shall let his heritage pass on to his daughter;	8 Ai figli di Israele dirai: “Se un uomo muore senza figli farete passare la sua eredità alle figlie.
9 if he has no daughter, you shall give his heritage to his brothers;	9 Se non ha figlie, darete la sua eredità ai fratelli.
10 if he has no brothers, you shall give his heritage to his father's brothers;	10 Se non ha fratelli, darete la sua eredità ai fratelli di suo padre.
11 if his father had no brothers, you shall give his heritage to his nearest relative in his clan, who shall then take possession of it." This is the legal norm for the Israelites, as the LORD commanded Moses.	11 Se suo padre non ha fratelli, darete la sua eredità al parente più stretto della sua famiglia: questi ne prenderà possesso”. Per i figli di Israele sarà questa una regola di diritto, come Jahvè ha ordinato a Mosè».
12 The LORD said to Moses, "Go up here into the Abarim Mountains and view the land that I am giving to the Israelites.	12 Jahvè disse a Mosè: «Sali su questa montagna degli Abarim. Contempla la terra che ho dato ai figli di Israele.
13 When you have viewed it, you too shall be taken to your people, as was your brother Aaron,	13 Quando l’avrai contemplata, tu pure ti riunirai ai tuoi antenati come già si riunì Aronne tuo fratello.
14 because in the rebellion of the community in the desert of Zin you both rebelled against my order to manifest my sanctity to them by means of the water." (This is the water of Meribah of Kadesh in the desert of Zin.)	14 Poiché nel deserto di Sin, durante la ribellione della comunità, vi siete rifiutati di riconoscermi santo ai loro occhi, a proposito delle acque». Sono queste le acque di Meriba-Kadesh, nel deserto di Sin.
15 Then Moses said to the LORD,	15 Mosè parlò a Jahvè:
16 "May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all mankind, set over the community a man	16 «Jahvè, Dio degli aliti che animano ogni corpo, stabilisca sulla comunità un uomo
17 who shall act as their leader in all things, to guide them in all their actions; that the LORD'S community may not be like sheep without a shepherd."	17 che esca innanzi a loro e che entri innanzi a loro, uno che li faccia uscire e li faccia entrare affinché la comunità di Jahvè non sia come un gregge senza pastore».
18 And the LORD replied to Moses, "Take Joshua, son of Nun, a man of spirit, and lay your hand upon him.	18 Jahvè disse a Mosè: «Prendi Giosuè figlio di Nun, uomo in cui è lo spirito. Poni su di lui la mano.
19 Have him stand in the presence of the priest Eleazar and of the whole community, and commission him before their eyes.	19 Lo farai stare davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro e davanti a tutta la comunità, darai a lui ordini in loro presenza.
20 Invest him with some of your own dignity, that the whole Israelite community may obey him.	20 Porrai su di lui parte della tua maestà affinché tutta la comunità dei figli di Israele lo ascolti.
21 He shall present himself to the priest Eleazar, to have him seek out for him the decisions of the Urim in the LORD'S presence; and as he directs, Joshua, all the Israelites with him, and the community as a whole shall perform all their actions."	21 Egli si terrà davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro che per lui consulterà il giudizio degli Urim al cospetto di Jahvè. Dietro il suo comando usciranno e dietro il suo comando rientreranno, lui e tutti i figli di Israele con lui, tutta la comunità».
22 Moses did as the LORD had commanded him. Taking Joshua and having him stand in the presence of the priest Eleazar and of the whole community,	22 Mosè fece come Jahvè gli aveva ordinato. Prese Giosuè, lo fece stare davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro e davanti a tutta la comunità,
23 he laid his hands on him and gave him his commission, as the LORD had directed through Moses.	23 pose di lui la mano e gli diede ordini, come Jahvè aveva detto per mezzo di Mosè.
