1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron:	1 El Señor habló a Moisés y a Aarón:
2 "This is the regulation which the law of the LORD prescribes. Tell the Israelites to procure for you a red heifer that is free from every blemish and defect and on which no yoke has ever been laid.	2 «Este es uno de los preceptos de la ley, prescrito por el Señor con estas palabras: “Di a los hijos de Israel que te traigan una vaca roja, sin defecto, que no tenga mancha alguna y que nunca haya llevado yugo
3 This is to be given to Eleazar the priest, to be led outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.	3 Dádsela al sacerdote Eleazar. Que la saquen fuera del campamento y sea inmolada en su presencia.
4 Eleazar the priest shall take some of its blood on his finger and sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the meeting tent.	4 Entonces el sacerdote Eleazar untará su dedo en la sangre de la vaca y salpicará siete veces la sangre hacia la entrada de la Tienda del Encuentro.
5 Then the heifer shall be burned in his sight, with its hide and flesh, its blood and offal;	5 Luego será quemada la vaca en su presencia, con su piel, su carne, su sangre e incluso sus excrementos.
6 and the priest shall take some cedar wood, hyssop and scarlet yarn and throw them into the fire in which the heifer is being burned.	6 Tomará el sacerdote ramas de cedro, hisopo y grana, y las echará a la hoguera en que arde la vaca.
7 The priest shall then wash his garments and bathe his body in water. He remains unclean until the evening, and only afterward may he return to the camp.	7 El sacerdote purificará sus vestidos y se lavará el cuerpo con agua; luego podrá ya entrar en el campamento; pero quedará impuro hasta la tarde.
8 Likewise, he who burned the heifer shall wash his garments, bathe his body in water, and be unclean until evening.	8 El que haya quemado la vaca purificará sus vestidos con agua y lavará su cuerpo con agua; pero quedará impuro hasta la tarde.
9 Finally, a man who is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer and deposit them in a clean place outside the camp. There they are to be kept for preparing lustral water for the Israelite community. The heifer is a sin offering.	9 Un hombre puro recogerá las cenizas de la vaca y las depositará en un lugar puro fuera del campamento. Servirán a la comunidad de los hijos de Israel para el rito del agua expiatoria: es un sacrificio expiatorio.
10 He who has gathered up the ashes of the heifer shall also wash his garments and be unclean until evening. This is a perpetual ordinance, both for the Israelites and for the aliens residing among them.	10 El que haya recogido las cenizas de la vaca lavará sus vestidos, pero quedará impuro hasta la tarde. Ley perpetua, tanto para los hijos de Israel como para los emigrantes residentes entre ellos.
11 "Whoever touches the dead body of any human being shall be unclean for seven days;	11 El que toque un muerto, un cadáver humano, quedará impuro siete días.
12 he shall purify himself with the water on the third and on the seventh day, and then he will be clean again. But if he fails to purify himself on the third and on the seventh day, he will not become clean.	12 Se purificará con dicha agua los días tercero y séptimo, y quedará puro. Pero si no se purifica los días tercero y séptimo, no quedará puro.
13 Everyone who fails to purify himself after touching the body of any deceased person, defiles the Dwelling of the LORD and shall be cut off from Israel. Since the lustral water has not been splashed over him, he remains unclean: his uncleanness still clings to him.	13 Todo el que toca un muerto, un cadáver humano, y no se purifica, contamina la Morada del Señor; ese individuo será excluido de Israel, porque el agua expiatoria no ha corrido sobre su cuerpo: es impuro; su impureza sigue sobre él.
14 "This is the law: When a man dies in a tent, everyone who enters the tent, as well as everyone already in it, shall be unclean for seven days;	14 Esta es la ley para cuando uno muere en la tienda. Todo el que entre en la tienda y todo el que esté en ella queda impuro siete días.
15 likewise, every vessel that is open, or with its lid unfastened, shall be unclean.	15 Y todo recipiente abierto, que no esté cerrado con tapa o cuerda, queda impuro.
16 Moreover, everyone who in the open country touches a dead person, whether he was slain by the sword or died naturally, or who touches a human bone or a grave, shall be unclean for seven days.	16 Todo el que, en pleno campo, toque a uno que haya sido víctima de la espada o a un muerto, o huesos humanos, o una sepultura, quedará impuro siete días.
17 For anyone who is thus unclean, ashes from the sin offering shall be put in a vessel, and spring water shall be poured on them.	17 Para el impuro se tomará ceniza de la víctima inmolada como sacrificio expiatorio, y se verterá encima agua corriente en una vasija.
18 Then a man who is clean shall take some hyssop, dip it in this water, and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the vessels and persons that were in it, or on him who touched a bone, a slain person or other dead body, or a grave.	18 Un hombre puro tomará el hisopo, lo mojará en el agua y rociará la tienda y todos los objetos y personas que había en ella, e igualmente al que tocó los huesos, o al asesinado, o al muerto, o la sepultura.
19 The clean man shall sprinkle the unclean on the third and on the seventh day; thus purified on the seventh day, he shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water, and in the evening he will be clean again.	19 El hombre puro rociará al impuro los días tercero y séptimo: el séptimo día quedará limpio de su pecado, lavará sus vestidos, se lavará con agua y quedará puro por la tarde.
20 Any unclean man who fails to have himself purified shall be cut off from the community, because he defiles the sanctuary of the LORD. As long as the lustral water has not been splashed over him, he remains unclean.	20 Pero el hombre que quedó impuro y no se ha purificado, será excluido de la asamblea, pues ha contaminado el santuario del Señor. El agua expiatoria no ha corrido por su cuerpo: es un impuro.
21 This shall be a perpetual ordinance for you. "One who sprinkles the lustral water shall wash his garments, and anyone who comes in contact with this water shall be unclean until evening.	21 Esta es para vosotros una ley perpetua. El que ha hecho la aspersión con el agua expiatoria, lavará sus vestidos, y el que haya tocado el agua expiatoria quedará impuro hasta la tarde.
22 Moreover, whatever the unclean person touches becomes unclean itself, and anyone who touches it becomes unclean until evening."	22 Y todo lo que haya sido tocado por el impuro, quedará impuro; y la persona que lo toque a él quedará impura hasta la tarde”».
