Ezekiel 8

	1 Nel sesto anno, nel sesto mese, il cinque del mese, mentre stavo nella mia casa e innanzi a me sedevano gli anziani di Giuda, venne sopra di me la mano del Signore Jahvè.
	2 Guardai ed ecco m’apparve la sagoma di una figura umana: da quelli che sembravano i suoi lombi in giù era fuoco, dai suoi lombi in sù appariva come uno splendore, come il luccicore dell’elettro.
3 Spirit lifted me up in the air and brought me in divine visions to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate, where stood the statue of jealousy which stirs up jealousy.	3 Egli stese qualcosa di simile a una mano e mi afferrò per il ciuffo dei capelli; lo spirito mi sollevò fra la terra e il cielo e mi trasportò, in celesti visioni, a Gerusalemme, presso l’ingresso della porta interna che guarda a nord, dove si trovava l’idolo che eccitava la gelosia del Signore.
	4 Ed ecco, c’era là la gloria del Dio di Israele, come l’avevo vista nella pianura.
5 He said to me: Son of man, look toward the north! I looked toward the north and saw northward of the gate the altar of the statue of jealousy.	5 Mi disse: «Figlio dell’uomo, leva gli occhi verso il nord». Li alzai ed ecco, a nord, sulla porta dell’altare, C’era, all’ingresso quell’idolo della gelosia.
6 Son of man, he asked me, do you see what they are doing? Do you see the great abominations that the house of Israel is practicing here, so that I must depart from my sanctuary? But you shall see still greater abominations!	6 Soggiunse allora: «Figlio dell’uomo, non vedi forse ciò che essi fanno, i grandi abomini che compie qui la casa di Israele perché la allontani dal mio santuario; ne vedrai ancora di peggiori».
7 Then he brought me to the entrance of the court, where I saw there was a hole in the wall.	7 Quindi mi portò sull’ingresso dell’atrio; guardai ed ecco, nella parete, C’era un foro.
8 Son of man, he ordered, dig through the wall. I dug through the wall and saw a door.	8 Mi disse: «Figlio dell’uomo, fora il muro!» Lo forai e apparve un uscio.
9 Enter, he said to me, and see the abominable evils which they are doing here.	9 Aggiunse: «Entra e guarda gli empi abomini che essi compiono qui».
10 I entered and saw that all around upon the wall were pictured the figures of all kinds of creeping things and loathsome beasts (all the idols of the house of Israel).	10 Entrai e guardai: immagini di ogni sorta, di rettili e di animali ripugnanti e tutti gli idoli della casa di Israele erano dipinti intorno alla parete.
11 Before these stood seventy of the elders of the house of Israel, among whom stood Jaazaniah, son of Shaphan, each of them with his censer in his hand, and the fragrance of the incense was rising upward.	11 Settanta anziani della casa di Israele, tra i quali Jazania figlio di Shafan, stavano tutti diritti dinanzi a esse, ciascuno con un braciere in mano, mentre saliva la fragranza di una nuvola d’incenso.
12 Then he said to me: Do you see, son of man, what each of these elders of the house of Israel is doing in his idol room? They think: "The LORD cannot see us; the LORD has forsaken the land."	12 Mi disse: «Hai visto, figlio dell’uomo, ciò che fanno nelle tenebre gli anziani della casa di Israele, ciascuno nel penetrale del proprio idolo! Dicono, infatti: “Jahvè non ci vede, Jahvè ha abbandonato il paese!”».
13 He continued: You shall see still greater abominations that they are practicing.	13 Disse a me: «Vedrai ancora abomini peggiori che essi compiono».
14 Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the temple, and I saw sitting there the women who were weeping for Tammuz.	14 Quindi mi portò all’ingresso della porta del tempio di Jahvè che guarda a nord. Ed ecco sedere là le donne che piangevano Tammuz.
15 Then he said to me: Do you see this, son of man? You shall see other abominations, greater than these!	15 Mi disse: «Hai visto, figlio dell’uomo? Vedrai ancora abomini molto più grandi di questi».
16 Then he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and there at the door of the LORD'S temple, between the vestibule and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the LORD'S temple and their faces toward the east; they were bowing down to the sun.	16 Mi condusse infine nell’atrio interno del tempio di Jahvè, ed ecco, all’ingresso del santuario di Jahvè, tra il vestibolo e l’altare, C’erano circa venticinque uomini con le spalle al santuario di Jahvè e la faccia verso oriente; essi adoravano, verso oriente, il sole.
17 Do you see, son of man? he asked me. Is it such a trivial matter for the house of Judah to do the abominable things they have done here--for they have filled the land with violence, and again and again they have provoked me--that now they must also put the branch to my nose?	17 Mi disse: «Hai visto, figlio dell’uomo? È sufficiente forse alla casa di Giuda praticare gli abomini che si compiono qui? Anzi, hanno riempito il paese di violenze così da irritarmi ancora più. Eccoli avvicinare il ramoscello al naso.
18 Therefore I in turn will act furiously: I will not look upon them with pity nor will I show mercy.	18 Ebbene, anch'io agirò con furore: il mio occhio non avrà compassione e sarò senza pietà. Essi, allora, a gran voce mi invocheranno e io non li ascolterò».
