1 As for you, son of man, take a clay tablet; lay it in front of you, and draw on it a city (Jerusalem).	1 E tu, o figlio dell'uomo, prendi un mattone, ponitelo davanti, o disegnavi la città di Gerusalemme.
2 Raise a siege against it: build a tower, lay out a ramp, pitch camps, and set up batteringrams all around.	2 Disponi contro di lei un assedio, drizza le torri, alza le trincee, metti contro di essa gli accampamenti e metti all'intorno gli arieti.
3 Then take an iron griddle and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city. Fix your gaze on it: it shall be in the state of siege, and you shall besiege it. This shall be a sign for the house of Israel.	3 Poi prendi una padella di ferro e mettila come un muro di ferro fra te e la città, e fisserai la tua faccia contro di lei, e sarà assediata, e tu la circonderai. Ciò è un segno per la casa d'Israele.
4 Then you shall lie on your left side, while I place the sins of the house of Israel upon you. As many days as you lie thus, you shall bear their sins.	4 E tu dormirai sul tuo lato sinistro, e metterai su esso l'iniquità della casa d'Israele, secondo il numero dei giorni che dormirai su tal lato, e prenderai su di te le loro iniquità.
5 For the years of their sins I allot you the same number of days, three hundred and ninety, during which you will bear the sins of the house of Israel.	5 Or io t'ho dato il numero degli anni della loro iniquità col numero di trecento novanta giorni, e tu porterai l'iniquità della casa d'Israele.
6 When you finish this, you are to lie down again, but on your right side, and bear the sins of the house of Judah forty days; one day for each year I have allotted you.	6 E quando tu avrai fatto questo, dormirai sopra il tuo lato destro, e prenderai sopra di te l'iniquità della casa di Giuda per quaranta giorni, un giorno per anno, ti ho assegnato, dico, un giorno per anno.
7 Fixing your gaze on the siege of Jerusalem, with bared arm you shall prophesy against it.	7 E rivolgerai la tua faccia all'assediata Gerusalemme, e, steso il tuo braccio, profeterai contro di lei.
8 See, I will bind you with cords so that you cannot turn from one side to the other until you have completed the days of your siege.	8 Ecco che io ti ho cinto di catene, e tu non potrai volgere da un lato all'altro, finché non avrai compiti i giorni del tuo assedio.
9 Again, take wheat and barley, and beans and lentils, and millet and spelt; put them in a single vessel and make bread out of them. Eat it for as many days as you lie upon your side, three hundred and ninety.	9 Prendi del grano, orzo, fave, lenticchie, miglio e vecce, e metti queste cose in un vaso, e fanne per te dei pani secondo il numero dei giorni nei quali dormirai sul tuo fianco, e ne mangerai per trecento novanta giorni.
10 The food you eat shall be twenty shekels a day by weight; each day the same.	10 Quello che tu mangerai per tuo nutrimento sarà del peso di venti stateri per giorno, e lo mangerai di tempo in tempo.
11 And the water you drink shall be the sixth of a hin by measure; each day the same.	11 Ed anche l'acqua la beverai a misura, la sesta parte di un hin, e la beverai di tempo in tempo.
12 For your food you must bake barley loaves over human excrement in their sight, said the LORD.	12 E (il pane) lo mangerai come quello d'orzo, cotto sotto la cenere, e sotto i loro occhi lo coprirai con escrementi umani ».
13 Thus the Israelites shall eat their food unclean among the nations where I scatter them.	13 E il Signore disse: « Così i figli d'Israele mangeranno il loro pane immondo tra le nazioni ove li caccerò ».
14 "Oh no, Lord GOD!" I protested. "Never have I been made unclean, and from my youth till now, never have I eaten carrion flesh or that torn by wild beasts; never has any unclean meat entered my mouth."	14 E io dissi: « Ah! ah! ah! Signore Dio, ecco l'anima mia non è contaminata e dalla mia infanzia fino ad ora non ho mai mangiato animale morto da sè, o sbranato dalle fiere, e mai carne immonda è entrata nella mia bocca ».
15 Very well, he replied, I allow you cow's dung in place of human excrement; bake your bread on that.	15 Ed egli mi disse: « Ecco, invece d'escrementi umani, ti assegno sterco di bue, con questo farai (cuocere) il tuo pane».
16 Then he said to me: Son of man, I am breaking the staff of bread in Jerusalem. They shall eat bread which they have weighed out anxiously, and they shall drink water which they have measured out fearfully,	16 E mi disse: «Figlio dell'uomo, ecco ch'io torrò a Gerusalemme il sostentamento del pane e mangeranno il pane a peso e nell'ansietà, e berranno l'acqua a misura e nell'angoscia;
17 so that, owing to the scarcity of bread and water, everyone shall be filled with terror and waste away because of his sins.	17 fino a che, mancato il pane e l'acqua, ognuno caschi addosso all'altro, e si consumino nella oro iniquità ».
