Ezekiel 4

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 As for you, son of man, take a clay tablet; lay it in front of you, and draw on it a city (Jerusalem).	1 Quant à toi, fils d'homme, prends une brique et mets-la devant toi: tu y graveras une ville,Jérusalem.
2 Raise a siege against it: build a tower, lay out a ramp, pitch camps, and set up batteringrams all around.	2 Puis tu entreprendras contre elle un siège: tu construiras contre elle des retranchements, tu élèverascontre elle un remblai, tu établiras contre elle des camps et tu installeras contre elle des béliers, tout autour.
3 Then take an iron griddle and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city. Fix your gaze on it: it shall be in the state of siege, and you shall besiege it. This shall be a sign for the house of Israel.	3 Alors, prends une poêle de fer que tu installeras comme une muraille de fer entre toi et la ville. Puistu fixeras sur elle ton regard et elle sera assiégée: tu vas en faire le siège. C'est un signe pour la maison d'Israël.
4 Then you shall lie on your left side, while I place the sins of the house of Israel upon you. As many days as you lie thus, you shall bear their sins.	4 Couche-toi sur le côté gauche et prends sur toi la faute de la maison d'Israël. Autant de jours que tuseras ainsi couché, tu porteras leur faute.
5 For the years of their sins I allot you the same number of days, three hundred and ninety, during which you will bear the sins of the house of Israel.	5 C'est moi qui t'ai fixé les années de leur faute à une durée de 390 jours pendant lesquels tu porterasla faute de la maison d'Israël.
6 When you finish this, you are to lie down again, but on your right side, and bear the sins of the house of Judah forty days; one day for each year I have allotted you.	6 Et quand tu les auras terminés, tu te coucheras de nouveau, sur le côté droit, et tu porteras la fautede la maison de Juda, 40 jours. Je t'en ai fixé la durée à un jour pour une année.
7 Fixing your gaze on the siege of Jerusalem, with bared arm you shall prophesy against it.	7 Puis tu fixeras ton regard sur le siège de Jérusalem, tu lèveras ton bras nu et tu prophétiseras contreelle.
8 See, I will bind you with cords so that you cannot turn from one side to the other until you have completed the days of your siege.	8 Voici que j'ai mis sur toi des liens et tu ne te tourneras pas d'un côté sur l'autre jusqu'à ce que soientaccomplis les jours de ta réclusion.
9 Again, take wheat and barley, and beans and lentils, and millet and spelt; put them in a single vessel and make bread out of them. Eat it for as many days as you lie upon your side, three hundred and ninety.	9 Prends donc du froment, de l'orge, des fèves, des lentilles, du millet et de l'épeautre: mets-les dansun même vase et fais-t'en du pain. Tu en mangeras autant de jours que tu seras couché sur le côté - 390 jours.
10 The food you eat shall be twenty shekels a day by weight; each day the same.	10 Et cette nourriture que tu mangeras, tu en pèseras vingt sicles par jour que tu mangeras d'un jour àl'autre.
11 And the water you drink shall be the sixth of a hin by measure; each day the same.	11 Tu boiras aussi de l'eau avec mesure, tu en boiras un sixième de setier d'un jour à l'autre.
12 For your food you must bake barley loaves over human excrement in their sight, said the LORD.	12 Tu mangeras cette nourriture sous la forme d'une galette d'orge qui aura été cuite sur desexcréments humains, à leurs yeux.
13 Thus the Israelites shall eat their food unclean among the nations where I scatter them.	13 Et Yahvé dit: "C'est ainsi que les Israélites mangeront leur nourriture impure, au milieu desnations où je les chasserai."
14 "Oh no, Lord GOD!" I protested. "Never have I been made unclean, and from my youth till now, never have I eaten carrion flesh or that torn by wild beasts; never has any unclean meat entered my mouth."	14 Alors je dis: "Ah! Seigneur Yahvé, mon âme n'est pas impure. Depuis mon enfance jusqu'àprésent, jamais je n'ai mangé de bête crevée ou déchirée, et aucune viande avariée ne m'est entrée dans labouche."
15 Very well, he replied, I allow you cow's dung in place of human excrement; bake your bread on that.	15 Il me dit: "Eh bien! je t'accorde de la bouse de boeuf au lieu d'excréments humains; tu feras tonpain dessus."
16 Then he said to me: Son of man, I am breaking the staff of bread in Jerusalem. They shall eat bread which they have weighed out anxiously, and they shall drink water which they have measured out fearfully,	16 Puis il me dit: "Fils d'homme, voici que je vais détruire la réserve de pain à Jérusalem: onmangera dans l'angoisse du pain pesé, on boira avec effroi de l'eau mesurée,
17 so that, owing to the scarcity of bread and water, everyone shall be filled with terror and waste away because of his sins.	17 parce que le pain et l'eau manqueront; ils seront frappés de stupeur et dépériront à cause de leurfaute."
