1 As for you, son of man, take a clay tablet; lay it in front of you, and draw on it a city (Jerusalem).	1 "Figlio dell'uomo: prendi una tavoletta e mettitela davanti; incidi su di essa una città, Gerusalemme.
2 Raise a siege against it: build a tower, lay out a ramp, pitch camps, and set up batteringrams all around.	2 Poni attorno ad essa l'assedio, fa' una trincea, costruisci un vallo; metti gli accampamenti e colloca gli arieti tutt'intorno.
3 Then take an iron griddle and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city. Fix your gaze on it: it shall be in the state of siege, and you shall besiege it. This shall be a sign for the house of Israel.	3 Prenditi una lastra di ferro e mettila come muro di ferro tra te e la città e fissa il tuo sguardo su di essa; che sia in assedio e tu l'assedierai. Questo è un segnale per la casa d'Israele.
4 Then you shall lie on your left side, while I place the sins of the house of Israel upon you. As many days as you lie thus, you shall bear their sins.	4 Giaci sul fianco sinistro, mettendo su di esso la colpa della casa d'Israele; porterai la loro colpa per il numero dei giorni in cui giacerai su di esso.
5 For the years of their sins I allot you the same number of days, three hundred and ninety, during which you will bear the sins of the house of Israel.	5 Io ti assegno per gli anni della loro colpa il numero di centonovanta giorni e tu porterai la colpa della casa d'Israele.
6 When you finish this, you are to lie down again, but on your right side, and bear the sins of the house of Judah forty days; one day for each year I have allotted you.	6 Terminato ciò, giacerai sul fianco destro e porterai la colpa della casa di Giuda; ti assegno quaranta giorni, un giorno per ogni anno.
7 Fixing your gaze on the siege of Jerusalem, with bared arm you shall prophesy against it.	7 Fisserai il tuo sguardo e stenderai il braccio all'assedio di Gerusalemme e profetizzerai contro di essa.
8 See, I will bind you with cords so that you cannot turn from one side to the other until you have completed the days of your siege.	8 Sappi che ti metto addosso delle funi e non potrai voltarti da un fianco all'altro fino al compimento dei giorni della tua reclusione.
9 Again, take wheat and barley, and beans and lentils, and millet and spelt; put them in a single vessel and make bread out of them. Eat it for as many days as you lie upon your side, three hundred and ninety.	9 Prendi pertanto grano, orzo, fave, lenticchie, miglio e spelta e mettili in un recipiente; ti farai con essi del pane; lo mangerai nei centonovanta giorni in cui dovrai giacere sul tuo fianco
10 The food you eat shall be twenty shekels a day by weight; each day the same.	10 e ne mangerai una razione di venti sicli; la mangerai a ore stabilite.
11 And the water you drink shall be the sixth of a hin by measure; each day the same.	11 Berrai l'acqua in dosi di un sesto di hin a ore stabilite.
12 For your food you must bake barley loaves over human excrement in their sight, said the LORD.	12 Mangerai questo cibo in forma di una sfoglia d'orzo e la cuocerai su escrementi umani".
13 Thus the Israelites shall eat their food unclean among the nations where I scatter them.	13 Poi il Signore disse: "Così mangeranno il loro pane impuro i figli d'Israele, tra le genti tra le quali li caccerò".
14 "Oh no, Lord GOD!" I protested. "Never have I been made unclean, and from my youth till now, never have I eaten carrion flesh or that torn by wild beasts; never has any unclean meat entered my mouth."	14 Ma io dissi: "Signore mio Dio, ecco, la mia gola non si è mai macchiata d'impurità; non ho mai mangiato carne infetta o dilaniata, dalla mia giovinezza fino ad oggi, e per la mia bocca non è mai passata carne guasta".
15 Very well, he replied, I allow you cow's dung in place of human excrement; bake your bread on that.	15 Allora mi disse: "Vedi, ti concedo gli escrementi di animale al posto di quelli umani; ti cuocerai il pane su quelli".
16 Then he said to me: Son of man, I am breaking the staff of bread in Jerusalem. They shall eat bread which they have weighed out anxiously, and they shall drink water which they have measured out fearfully,	16 Mi disse: "Sto per spezzare in Gerusalemme il bastone del pane. Mangeranno pane razionato con ansia e berranno acqua misurata con sgomento,
17 so that, owing to the scarcity of bread and water, everyone shall be filled with terror and waste away because of his sins.	17 al punto che verranno meno il pane e l'acqua, rimarranno sgomenti l'uno di fronte all'altro e languiranno nella loro colpa".
