1 How lonely she is now, the once crowded city! Widowed is she who was mistress over nations; The princess among the provinces has been made a toiling slave.	1 Dopo che Israele fu condotto in schiavitù e Gerusalemme restò deserta, il profeta Geremia sedette pieno di lacrime, e pianse sopra Gerusalemme con questa lamentazione. Col cuore straziato, sospirando e gridando, disse: Come mai siede solitaria la città popolosa? E' diventata come vedova la dominatrice delle nazioni, la regina delle provincie è obbligata al tributo. 2 Bitterly she weeps at night, tears upon her cheeks, With not one to console her of all her dear ones; Her friends have all betrayed her and become her enemies.	2 Piange inconsolabile durante la notte, lacrimose son le sue guance; non v'è chi la consoli tra tutti i suoi cari: tutti i suoi amici l'han disprezzata, le son diventati nemici. 10 The foe stretched out his hand to all her treasures; She has seen those nations enter her sanctuary Whom you forbade to come into your assembly.	10 L'oppressore ha stesa la mano sulle cose a lei più care ed essa ha visto entrare nel suo santuario le Genti, riguardo alle quali avevi ordinato che non entrassero nella tua adunanza. 11 All her people groan, searching for bread; They give their treasures for food, to retain the breath of life. "Look O LORD, and see how worthless I have become!	11 Tutto il suo popolo geme e cerca del pane; diedero le cose più preziose per gli alimenti, per riaver la vita. Guarda, o Signore, e considera come sono avvilita. LAMED.
12 "Come, all you who pass by the way, look and see Whether there is any suffering like my suffering, which has been dealt me When the LORD afflicted me on the day of his blazing wrath.	12 O voi tutti che passate per la via, fermatevi e guardate se v'è dolore simile al mio dolore, or che il Signore m'ha vendemmiata, come disse, nel giorno dell'ira sua furibonda. 13 "From on high he sent fire down into my very frame; He spread a net for my feet, and overthrew me. He left me desolate, in pain all the day.	13 Dall'alto mandò nelle mie ossa un fuoco, e m'ha insegnato; tese una rete ai miei piedi, e mi fe' cadere all'indietro; m'ha resa desolata, consumata tutto il giorno dal dolore. 14 "He has kept watch over my sins; by his hand they have been plaited: They have settled about my neck, he has brought my strength to its knees; The Lord has delivered me into their grip, I am unable to rise.	14 Preparò il giogo delle mie iniquità: nelle sue mani divennero un fascio; lo pose sul mio collo. 17 Zion stretched out her hands, but there was no one to console her; The LORD gave orders against Jacob for his neighbors to be his foes; Jerusalem has become in their midst a thing unclean.	17 Sion stende le mani, ma nessuno la consola: il Signore ha dato un ordine contro Giacobbe, che fosse accerchiato dai suoi nemici; Gerusalemme è diventata in mezzo a loro come donna immonda. 18 "The LORD is just; I had defied his command. Bring on the day you have proclaimed, that they may be even as I.	21 Han sentiti i miei gemiti, e non v'è chi mi consoli; tutti i miei nemici han sapute le mie sventure, ed han tripudiato, perchè sono opera tua; manda il giorno della consolazione, e diverranno simili a me. 22 "Let all their evil come before you; deal with them As you have dealt with me for all my sins; My groans are many, and I am sick at heart."	22 Ti sia presente tutta la loro malizia, vendemmiali come hai vendemmiato me per tutte le mie iniquità. Chè molti sono i miei gemiti, e il mio cuore è triste.
