Jeremiah 41

1 In the seventh month Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of royal descent, one of the king's nobles, came with ten men to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, at Mizpah. And while they were together at table in Mizpah,	1 Pues bien, el mes séptimo, Ismael, hijo de Netanías, hijo de Elisamá, de linaje real, se dirigió en compañía de algunos grandes del rey y diez hombres a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, a Mispá, y allí en Mispá comieron juntos.
2 Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, and the ten who were with him, rose up and attacked with swords Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon had made ruler over the land; and they killed him.	2 Se levantó Ismael, hijo de Netanías, y los diez que estaban con él, y acuchillaron a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, y dieron muerte a aquel a quien el rey de Babilonia había encargado del país.
3 Ishmael also slew all the men of Judah of military age who were with Gedaliah and the Chaldean soldiers who were there.	3 También mató Ismael a todos los judíos que estaban con él, con Godolías, en Mispá y a los guerreros caldeos que se hallaban allí.
4 The second day after the murder of Gedaliah, before anyone knew of it,	4 Era al día siguiente del asesinato de Godolías, y nadie lo sabía.
5 eighty men with beards shaved off, clothes in rags, and with gashes on their bodies came from Shechem, Shiloh, and Samaria, bringing food offerings and incense for the house of the LORD.	5 Unos hombres venían de Siquem de Silo y de Samaría, ochenta entre todos, la barba raída, harapientos y arañados, portadores de oblaciones e incienso que traían a la Casa de Yahveh.
6 Ishmael son of Nethaniah, went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping as he went.	6 Salió Ismael, hijo de Netanías, a su encuentro desde Mispá. Iba llorando mientras caminaba, y llegando junto a ellos, les dijo: «Venid adonde Godolías, hijo de Ajicam».
7 "Come to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam," he said as he met them. When they were once inside the city, Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, and his men slew them and threw them into the cistern.	7 Y así que hubieron entrado dentro de la ciudad, Ismael, hijo de Netanías, los degolló con la ayuda de sus hombres, y los echó dentro de una cisterna.
8 But there were ten among them who pleaded with Ishmael: "Do not kill us; we have stores buried in the field: wheat and barley, oil and honey." And so he spared them and did not kill them, as he had killed their companions.	8 Entre aquellos hombres hubo diez que dijeron a Ismael: «No nos mates, que en el campo tenemos escondites de trigo, cebada, aceite y miel». Y no les mató como a sus hermanos.
9 The cistern into which Ishmael threw all the corpses of the men he had killed was the large one made by King Asa to defend himself against Baasha, king of Israel; this cistern Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, filled with the slain.	9 La cisterna adonde echó Ismael todos los cadáveres de los hombres que mató, era la cisterna grande. Es la que hizo el rey Asá para prevenirse contra Basá, rey de Israel; Ismael, hijo de Netanías, la llenó de asesinados.
10 Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, led away the remnant of the people left in Mizpah and the princesses, whom Nebuzaradan, captain of the bodyguard, had confided to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam. With these captives, Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, set out to make his way to the Ammonites.	10 Luego Ismael hizo prisioneros a todo el resto del pueblo que quedaba en Mispá, a las hijas del rey y a todo el pueblo que quedaba en Mispá, que Nebuzaradán, jefe de la guardia, había encomendado a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam; y de madrugada se fue Ismael, hijo de Netanías, a pasarse a los ammonitas.
11 But when Johanan, son of Kareah, and the other army leaders with him heard of the crimes Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, had committed,	11 Oyó Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los jefes de las fuerzas que le acompañaban, todos los crímenes que había hecho Ismael, hijo de Netanías.
12 they took all their men and set out to attack Ishmael, son of Nethaniah. They overtook him at the Great Waters in Gibeon.	12 Tomando a todos sus hombres fueron a luchar con Ismael, hijo de Netanías, al que encontraron junto a la gran alberca, que está en Gabaón.
13 At the sight of Johanan, son of Kareah, and the other army leaders, the people who were Ishmael's captives rejoiced.	13 Apenas toda la gente que esta con Ismael vio a Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y a todos los jefes de las fuerzas que le acompañaban, se llenaron de gozo,
14 All of those whom Ishmael had brought away from Mizpah went over to Johanan, son of Kareah.	14 y dando media vuelta toda aquella gente que Ismael llevaba prisionera de Mispá, regresaron al lado de Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj,
15 But Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, escaped from Johanan and fled to the Ammonites with eight men.	15 en tanto que Ismael, hijo de Netanías, se escapaba de Yojanán con ocho hombres, rumbo a los ammonitas.
16 Then Johanan, son of Kareah, and all his army leaders took charge of the remnant of the people, both the soldiers and the women and children with their guardians, whom Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, had brought away from Mizpah after he killed Gedaliah, son of Ahikim. From Gibeon,	16 Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los jefes de las fuerzas que le acompañaban recogieron de Mispá a todo el resto de la gente que Ismael, hijo de Netanías, había hecho prisionera después que hubo matado a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam - hombres, gente de guerra, mujeres, niños y eunucos -, a los cuales hizo volver de Gabaón.
17 they retreated to the lodging place of Chimham near Bethlehem, where they stopped, intending to flee into Egypt.	17 Ellos se fueron y se instalaron en el Refugio de Kimham, que está al lado de Belén, para seguir luego hasta Egipto
18 They were afraid of the Chaldeans, because Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, had slain Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had made ruler in the land of Judah.	18 huyendo de los caldeos, pues les temían por haber matado Ismael, hijo de Netanías, a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, a quien el rey de Babilonia había encargado del país.
