1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,	1 O Senhor falou a Moisés e a Aarão, dizendo:
2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: Of all land animals these are the ones you may eat:	2 Dizei aos filhos de Israel: Estes são os animais que deveis comer entre todos os animais da terra.
3 any animal that has hoofs you may eat, provided it is cloven-footed and chews the cud.	3 Dentre os quadrúpedes comereis todo o que tem a unha fendida, e rumina.
4 But you shall not eat any of the following that only chew the cud or only have hoofs: the camel, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;	4 Porém, todo o que rumina e tem unha mas não fendida, como o camelo e os outros, não o comereis, e contá-lo-eis entre os (animais) impuros.
5 the rock badger, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;	5 O coelho, que rumina, mas não tem a unha fendida, é impuro.
6 the hare, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you; and the pig,	6 Igualmente a lebre, que rumina mas não tem a unha fendida,
7 which does indeed have hoofs and is cloven-footed, but does not chew the cud and is therefore unclean for you.	7 e o porco, o qual tem a unha fendida, mas não rumina.
8 Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall not touch; they are unclean for you.	8 Não comereis das carnes destes animais, nem tocareis os seus cadáveres, porque são impuros para vós.
9 "Of the various creatures that live in the water, you may eat the following: whatever in the seas or in river waters has both fins and scales you may eat.	9 Eis os animais aquáticos dos quais é lícito comer: Todos os que tem barbatanas e escamas, tanto no mar, como nos rios e nos lagos, comê-los-eis.
10 But of the various creatures that crawl or swim in the water, whether in the sea or in the rivers, all those that lack either fins or scales are loathsome for you,	10 Mas tudo o que se move e vive nas águas sem ter barbatanas nem escamas, será abominável para vós
11 and you shall treat them as loathsome. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall loathe.	11 e execrando: não comereis as suas carnes, e evitareis (tocar) seus corpos mortos.
12 Every water creature that lacks fins or scales is loathsome for you.	12 Todos os animais aquáticos que não têm barbatanas nem escamas serão (para vós) impuros.
13 "Of the birds, these you shall loathe and, as loathsome, they shall not be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,	13 Entre as aves são estas que não deveis comer, e devem ser evitadas: a águia, o grifo e a águia marinha,
14 the kite, the various species of falcons,	14 o milhano, o abutre com os da sua espécie,
15 the various species of crows,	15 o corvo e todas as espécies semelhantes ao corvo,
16 the ostrich, the nightjar, the gull, the various species of hawks,	16 o avestruz, a coruja, a gaivota, o açor e tudo o que é da sua espécie,
17 the owl, the cormorant, the screech owl,	17 o mocho, o corvo marinho, o íbis,
18 the barn owl, the desert owl, the buzzard,	18 o cisne, o pelicano, o porfirião,
19 the stork, the various species of herons, the hoopoe, and the bat.	19 a cegonha e o corvo marinho com os da sua espécie, a poupa e o morcego.
20 "The various winged insects that walk on all fours are loathsome for you.	20 Todo o volátil que anda sobre quatro patas será abominável para vós.
21 But of the various winged insects that walk on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs for leaping on the ground;	21 Todo o animal volátil porém, que assim anda sobre quatro patas, mas tem mais compridas as posteriores, com que salta sobre a terra,
22 hence of these you may eat the following: the various kinds of locusts, the various kinds of grasshoppers, the various kinds of katydids, and the various kinds of crickets.	22 podeis comê-lo, e tal é o brugo na sua espécie, o ataco, o ofíómaco e o gafanhoto, cada um na sua espécie.
23 All other winged insects that have four legs are loathsome for you.	23 Mas os insectos alados que têm sòmente quatro patas, serão execráveis para vós;
24 "Such is the uncleanness that you contract, that everyone who touches their dead bodies shall be unclean until evening,	24 todo o que tocar os seus corpos mortos, ficará contaminado e será impuro até à tarde;
25 and everyone who picks up any part of their dead bodies shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.	25 se for necessário que ele leve algum destes animais mortos, lavará as suas vestes e ficará imundo até ao pôr do sol.
26 All hoofed animals that are not cloven-footed or do not chew the cud are unclean for you; everyone who touches them becomes unclean.	26 Todo o animal que tem unha, mas sem ser fendida, e que não rumina, será impuro; aquele que o tocar, ficará contaminado.
27 Of the various quadrupeds, all those that walk on paws are unclean for you; everyone who touches their dead bodies shall be unclean until evening,	27 De todos os animais quadrúpedes, aqueles que andam sobre a planta dos pés serão impuros; aquele que tocar os seus corpos mortos, ficará impuro até à tarde,
28 and everyone who picks up their dead bodies shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening. Such is their uncleanness for you.	28 e o que levar estes cadáveres, lavará as suas vestes e ficará impuro até à tarde. Todos estes (animais) são impuros para vós.
29 "Of the creatures that swarm on the ground, the following are unclean for you: the rat, the mouse, the various kinds of lizards,	29 Também entre os animais, que se movem sobre a terra, se deverão reputar como impuros os seguintes: a doninha, o rato e o crocodilo, cada um segundo a sua espécie,
30 the gecko, the chameleon, the agama, the skink, and the mole.	30 o musaranho, o camaleão, a salamandra, o lagarto e a toupeira.
31 Among the various swarming creatures, these are unclean for you. Everyone who touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.	31 Toldos estes animais são impuros. Aquele que tocar os seus corpos mortos, ficará impuro até à tarde.
32 Everything on which one of them falls when dead becomes unclean. Any such article that men use, whether it be an article of wood, cloth, leather or goat hair, must be put in water and remain unclean until evening, when it again becomes clean.	32 Tudo aquilo sobre que cair alguma coisa dos seus cadáveres, ficará contaminado, quer seja um vaso de pau, ou uma veste ou uma pele, ou um pano da Cilícia: qualquer instrumento que serve para fazer alguma obra, se lavará em água, e será impuro até à tarde, e deste modo será depois purificado.
33 Should any of these creatures fall into a clay vessel, everything in it becomes unclean, and the vessel itself you must break.	33 Mas o vaso de barro, dentro do qual cair alguma coisa destas, ficará contaminado, e por isso se deve quebrar.
34 Any solid food that was in contact with water, and any liquid that men drink, in any such vessel become unclean.	34 Todo o alimento que comerdes, se se derramar água (destes vasos contaminados) sobre ele, será impuro: todo o líquido que se bebe de qualquer vaso (contaminado), será impuro.
35 Any object on which one of their dead bodies falls, becomes unclean; if it is an oven or a jar-stand, this must be broken to pieces; they are unclean and shall be treated as unclean by you.	35 Se alguma coisa destes animais mortos cair sobre um objecto, este ficará impuro; ou sejam fornos ou marmitas, deverão destruir-se; serão impuros.
36 However, a spring or a cistern for collecting water remains clean; but whoever touches the dead body becomes unclean.	36 As fontes, porém, as cisternas e todos os depósitos de água serão puros. Aquele que tocar o corpo morto destes animais, ficará impuro.
37 Any sort of cultivated grain remains clean even though one of their dead bodies falls on it;	37 Se cair (alguma coisa desse corpo) sobre semente, não a tornará impura.
38 but if the grain has become moistened, it becomes unclean when one of these falls on it.	38 Mas, se alguém derramar água sobre a semente, e esta depois for tocada por algum destes corpos mortos, imediatamente ficará contaminada.
39 "When one of the animals that you could otherwise eat, dies of itself, anyone who touches its dead body shall be unclean until evening;	39 Se morrer algum daqueles animais, que vos é licito comer, aquele que tocar o seu cadáver, ficará impuros até à tarde
40 and anyone who eats of its dead body shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening; so also, anyone who removes its dead body shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.	40 o que conter alguma coisa dele, ou tiver levado alguma porção, lavará as suas vestes e ficará impuro até à tarde.
41 "All the creatures that swarm on the ground are loathsome and shall not be eaten.	41 Tudo o que anda de rastos sobre a terra, será abominável, e não será usado como alimento.
42 Whether it crawls on its belly, goes on all fours, or has many legs, you shall eat no swarming creature: they are loathsome.	42 Não comereis nenhum daqueles animais rastejantes, quer se arrastem sobre o ventre quer se movam com quatro ou com muitas patas. Considerá-lo-eis coisa abominável.
43 Do not make yourselves loathsome or unclean with any swarming creature through being contaminated by them.	43 Não vos torneis abomináveis por todos estes animais rastejantes, nem toqueis alguma destas coisas, para não ficardes impuros.
44 For I, the LORD, am your God; and you shall make and keep yourselves holy, because I am holy. You shall not make yourselves unclean, then, by any swarming creature that crawls on the ground.	44 Eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus; sêde santos, porque eu sou santo; não vos mancheis com o toque de algum réptil que se arrasta sobre a terra.
45 Since I, the LORD, brought you up from the land of Egypt that I might be your God, you shall be holy, because I am holy.	45 Porque eu sou o Senhor, que vos tirei da terra do Egipto para ser o vosso Deus. Vós sereis santos, porque eu sou santo.
46 "This is the law for animals and birds and for all the creatures that move about in the water or swarm on the ground,	46 Esta é a lei sobre os quadrúpedes, as aves, e sobre todo o animal vivente, que se move na água, ou que anda de rastos pela terra,
47 that you may distinguish between the clean and the unclean, between creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten."	47 a fim de que vós conheçais a diferença entre o puro e o impuro, e saibais o que deveis comer e o que deveis rejeitar.
