Isaiah 49

1 Hear me, O coastlands, listen, O distant peoples. The LORD called me from birth, from my mother's womb he gave me my name.	1 Ouvi, ilhas, atendei povos de longe. O Senhor chamou-me desde o ventre de minha mãe; quando eu ainda estava no seio materno, pronunciou o meu nome.
2 He made of me a sharp-edged sword and concealed me in the shadow of his arm. He made me a polished arrow, in his quiver he hid me.	2 Tornou a minha boca como uma espada aguda; protegeu-me à sombra da sua mão; fez de mim uma seta afiada, escondeu-me na sua aljava.
3 You are my servant, he said to me, Israel, through whom I show my glory.	3 Disse-me: Israel, tu és meu servo; eu serei glorificado em ti.
4 Though I thought I had toiled in vain, and for nothing, uselessly, spent my strength, Yet my reward is with the LORD, my recompense is with my God.	4 E eu disse: Em vão tenho trabalhado (pregando ao povo); sem fruto e inutilmente consumi as minhas forças; porém o meu direito está nas mãos do Senhor, no meu Deus está depositada a recompensa da minha obra.
5 For now the LORD has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb, That Jacob may be brought back to him and Israel gathered to him; And I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD, and my God is now my strength!	5 E agora o Senhor, que me formou desde o ventre materno para (ser) seu servo, diz-me que lhe reconduza Jacob, que lhe congregue Israel. Sou glorificado aos olhos do Senhor, e o meu Deus é a minha fortaleza.
6 It is too little, he says, for you to be my servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and restore the survivors of Israel; I will make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.	6 Ele disse-me: É pouco que sejas meu servo para restaurar as tribos de Jacob, reconduzir os que escaparam de Israel. Vou fazer de ti luz das gentes, a fim de que chegue a minha salvação até à última extremidade da terra.
7 Thus says the LORD, the redeemer and the Holy One of Israel, To the one despised, whom the nations abhor, the slave of rulers: When kings see you, they shall stand up, and princes shall prostrate themselves Because of the LORD who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.	7 Eis o que diz o Senhor, o Redentor, o Santo de Israel, ao homem desprezado e abominado pelo povo, ao escravo dos tiranos: Reis te verão e se levantarão, príncipes se prostrarão, por causa do Senhor que é fiel (em cumprir as suas promessas), do Santo de Israel que te escolheu.
8 Thus says the LORD: In a time of favor I answer you, on the day of salvation I help you, To restore the land and allot the desolate heritages,	8 Eis o que diz o Senhor: Eu ouvi-to no tempo da graça, auxiliei-te no dia da salvação: conservei-te e constituí-te aliança do povo, para restaurares a terra e repartires as heranças devastadas.
9 Saying to the prisoners: Come out! To those in darkness: Show yourselves! Along the ways they shall find pasture, on every bare height shall their pastures be.	9 para dizeres aos que estão em cadeias: Saí - e aos que estão nas trevas: Vinde à luz. Ao longo dos caminhos encontrarão com que se alimentar, e em todas as planícies haverá que comer para eles.
10 They shall not hunger or thirst, nor shall the scorching wind or the sun strike them; For he who pities them leads them and guides them beside springs of water.	10 Não padecerão fome, não terão sede, e não serão molestados pelo vento ardente nem pelo sol, porque o que tem compaixão deles os governará e os levará a beber às fontes das águas.
11 I will cut a road through all my mountains, and make my highways level.	11 Reduzirei a caminho todos os meus montes, e as minhas veredas serão alteadas.
12 See, some shall come from afar, others from the north and the west, and some from the land of Syene.	12 Eis que estes virão de longe, aqueles do setentrião e do mar (ou poente), e aqueloutros da terra de Sinim.
13 Sing out, O heavens, and rejoice, O earth, break forth into song, you mountains. For the LORD comforts his people and shows mercy to his afflicted.	13 Cantai, céus; regozija-te, terra; fazei retinir, ó montes, louvores festivos, porque o Senhor consolou o seu povo, compadeceu-se dos seus oprimidos.
14 But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me."	14 Dizia Sião: O Senhor desamparou-me, o Senhor esqueceu-se de mim.
15 Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you.	15 Porventura (respondeu o Senhor) pode uma mulher esquecer-se do seu menino de peito, não ter compaixão do filho das suas entranhas? Porém, ainda que ela se esquecesse dele, eu não me esqueceria de ti.
16 See, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name; your walls are ever before me.	16 Eis que eu te gravei nas minhas mãos; as tuas muralhas estão sempre diante dos meus olhos.
17 Your rebuilders make haste, as those who tore you down and laid you waste go forth from you;	17 Chegaram os que te hão-de reedificar; os que te destruíram e devastaram, fogem para longe de ti.
18 Look about and see, they are all gathering and coming to you. As I live, says the LORD, you shall be arrayed with them all as with adornments, like a bride you shall fasten them on you.	18 Levanta os teus olhos em volta e vê como todos se reúnem e vêm a ti; eu juro pela minha vida, diz o Senhor, que de todos estes serás revestida, como dum ornamento, que pô-los-ás por cintura à roda de ti, como uma esposa.
19 Though you were waste and desolate, a land of ruins, Now you shall be too small for your inhabitants, while those who swallowed you up will be far away.	19 Com efeito as tuas ruínas, os teus desertos, o teu país devastado, tudo isto será agora estreito para os teus muitos habitantes, depois de afugentados para longe os que te devoravam.
20 The children whom you had lost shall yet say to you, "This place is too small for me, make room for me to live in."	20 Então hão-de dizer aos teus ouvidos, os filhos de que estavas privada: Este lugar é apertado para mim, dá-me espaço para habitar.
21 You shall ask yourself: "Who has borne me these? I was bereft and barren (exiled and repudiated); who has reared them? I was left all alone; where then do these come from?"	21 E tu dirás no teu coração: Quem me gerou estes filhos? Eu estava sem filhos e estéril, exilada e repudiada. Quem os criou, estando eu desamparada e só? Estes onde estavam?
22 Thus says the Lord GOD: See, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and raise my signal to the peoples; They shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.	22 Isto diz o Senhor Deus: Eis que levantarei para as nações a minha mão, e arvorarei entre os povos o meu estandarte. E trarão os teus filhos nos braços, e levarão as tuas filhas sobre os ombros.
23 Kings shall be your foster fathers, their princesses your nurses; Bowing to the ground, they shall worship you and lick the dust at your feet. Then you shall know that I am the LORD, and those who hope in me shall never be disappointed.	23 Serão reis os que te alimentam, e rainhas as tuas nutrizes; com o rosto inclinado até à terra te adorarão e lamberão o pó dos teus pés. Saberás (então) que eu sou o Senhor e que não serão confundidos os que esperam em mim.
24 Thus says the LORD: Can booty be taken from a warrior? or captives be rescued from a tyrant?	24 Acaso tirar-se-á a presa ao forte? Ou o que for tomado por um homem valente poderá ser-lhe tirado?
25 Yes, captives can be taken from a warrior, and booty be rescued from a tyrant; Those who oppose you I will oppose, and your sons I will save.	25 (Sim), porque o Senhor diz isto: Certamente serão tirados ao homem forte os que ele tiver feito cativos, e serão tirados ao valente os que ele tiver tomado. Quanto aos teus adversários, combatê-los-ei, e pelo que toca aos teus filhos, eu os salvarei.
26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with the juice of the grape. All mankind shall know that I, the LORD, am your savior, your redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.	26 Farei comer aos teus inimigos as suas próprias carnes; eles se embriagarão do seu próprio sangue, como dum vinho novo. E toda a carne saberá que eu sou o Senhor que te salva, que o teu redentor é o Forte de Jacob.
