Sirach 49

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	BIBLIA
1 The name JOSIAH is like blended incense, made lasting by a skilled perfumer. Precious is his memory, like honey to the taste, like music at a banquet.	1 La memoria de Josías es mixtura de incienso preparado por arte de perfumista. En toda boca es dulce como miel, como música en medio de un banquete.
2 For he grieved over our betrayals, and destroyed the abominable idols.	2 El llevó a buen fin la conversión del pueblo, y extirpó la abominación de la iniquidad.
3 He turned to God with his whole heart, and, though times were evil, he practiced virtue.	3 Enderezó su corazón hacia el Señor, en los días de los impíos reafirmó la piedad.
4 Except for David, Hezekiah and Josiah, they all were wicked; They abandoned the Law of the Most High, these kings of Judah, right to the very end.	4 Fuera de David, Ezequías y Josías, todos abundaron en sus culpas. Porque abandonaron la ley del Altísimo, los reyes de Judá fueron abandonados.
5 So he gave over their power to others, their glory to a foolish foreign nation	5 Pues entregaron a otros su cuerno, y su gloria a una nación extraña.
6 Who burned the holy city and left its streets desolate, As JEREMIAH had foretold;	6 Prendieron fuego a la elegida ciudad del santuario, dejaron desiertas sus calles,
7 for they had treated him badly who even in the womb had been made a prophet, To root out, pull down, and destroy, and then to build and to plant.	7 según la palabra de Jeremías, a quien habían maltratado, a él, consagrado profeta desde el vientre de su madre, para extirpar, destruir y perder y también para construir y plantar.
8 EZEKIEL beheld the vision and described the different creatures of the chariot;	8 Ezequiel tuvo la visión de la gloria que Dios le manifestó en el carro de Querubines,

10 Then, too, the TWELVE PROPHETS-- may their bones return to life from their resting place!-- Gave new strength to Jacob and saved him by their faith and hope.	10 Cuanto a los doce profetas, que sus huesos reflorezcan en su tumba. Porque ellos consolaron a Jacob, y lo rescataron por la fidelidad y la esperanza.
11 How can we fittingly praise ZERUBBABEL, who was like a signet ring on God's right hand,	11 ¿Cómo celebraremos a Zorobabel? ¡Fue él como sello en la mano derecha,
12 And Jeshua, Jozadak's son? In their time they built the house of God; They erected the holy temple, destined for everlasting glory.	12 así como Josué hijo de Josedec! Ellos en sus días construyeron la Casa y levantaron el Templo consagrado al Señor, destinado a una gloria eterna.
13 Extolled be the memory of NEHEMIAH! He rebuilt our ruined walls, Restored our shattered defenses, and set up gates and bars.	13 También de Nehemías es grande la memoria, él, que nos levantó las murallas en ruinas, puso puertas y cerrojos y reconstruyó nuestras moradas.
14 Few on earth have been made the equal of ENOCH, for he was taken up bodily.	14 Nadie fue creado en la tierra igual a Henoc, pues él fue arrebatado de la tierra.
15 Was ever a man born like JOSEPH? Even his dead body was provided for.	15 Ni como José nació hombre alguno, el guía de sus hermanos, apoyo de su pueblo; sus huesos fueron visitados.
16 Glorious, too, were SHEM and SETH and ENOS; but beyond that of any living being was the splendor of ADAM.	16 Sem y Set fueron gloriosos entre los hombres, mas por encima de toda criatura viviente está Adán.
