¹ The wicked man flees although no one pursues him; but the just man, like a lion, feels sure of himself.	¹ L'empio fugge senza che nessuno lo perseguiti, ma il giusto è franco come un leone, e senza paura.
² If a land is rebellious, its princes will be many; but with a prudent man it knows security.	² A causa dei peccati della terra son molti i suoi principi, ma per la sapienza di un uomo e la cognizione di ciò che si dice, la vita del principe sarà più lunga.
³ A rich man who oppresses the poor is like a devastating rain that leaves no food.	³ Un povero che opprime i poveri è simile a pioggia violenta che prepara la carestia.
⁴ Those who abandon the law praise the wicked man, but those who keep the law war against him.	⁴ Quelli che trascuran la legge lodan l'empio, quelli che l'osservano ardono di zelo contro di lui.
⁵ Evil men understand nothing of justice, but those who seek the LORD understand all.	⁵ I malvagi non comprendono ciò ch'è giusto, ma quelli che cercano il Signore guardano ad ogni cosa.
⁶ Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than he who is crooked in his ways and rich.	⁶ Meglio un povero di condotta intemerata, che un ricco di perversi costumi.
⁷ He who keeps the law is a wise son, but the gluttons' companion disgraces his father.	⁷ Chi osserva la legge è saggio figliolo, ma chi pasce i crapuloni fa vergogna a suo padre.
⁸ He who increases his wealth by interest and overcharge gathers it for him who is kind to the poor.	⁸ Chi ammucchia ricchezze con usura e interessi le ammassa per uno liberale verso i poveri.
⁹ When one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.	⁹ Chi chiude le orecchie per non sentir la legge, la sua preghiera sarà esecrabile.
¹⁰ He who seduces the upright into an evil way will himself fall into his own pit. (And blameless men will gain prosperity.)	¹⁰ Chi inganna i giusti, (menandoli) in cattiva strada, cadrà proprio nella sua fossa, e gl'innocenti saran padroni dei suoi beni.
¹¹ The rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who is intelligent sees through him.	¹¹ Il ricco si crede sapiente, ma il povero dotato d'intelligenza lo conoscerà a fondo.
¹² When the just are triumphant, there is great jubilation; but when the wicked gain preeminence, people hide.	¹² Quando trionfano i giusti, la gloria è grande, sotto il regno degli empi gli uomini vanno in rovina.
¹³ He who conceals his sins prospers not, but he who confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy.	¹³ Chi nasconde i suoi peccati non avrà bene, chi li confessa e li lascia otterrà misericordia.
¹⁴ Happy the man who is always on his guard; but he who hardens his heart will fall into evil.	¹⁴ Beato l'uomo che sempre teme, chi è duro di cuore precipiterà nel male.
¹⁵ Like a roaring lion or a ravenous bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.	¹⁵ Leone ruggente, orso affamato è un principe empio che regna sopra un popolo povero.
¹⁶ The less prudent the prince, the more his deeds oppress. He who hates ill-gotten gain prolongs his days.	¹⁶ Il principe senza prudenza opprimerà molti con violenze, ma chi odia l'avarizia prolungherà i suoi giorni.
¹⁷ Though a man burdened with human blood were to flee to the grave, none should support him.	¹⁷ L'uomo che ha sparso violentemente il sangue, anche se si getta in un baratro, nessun lo ritiene.
¹⁸ He who walks uprightly is safe, but he whose ways are crooked falls into the pit.	¹⁸ Chi cammina con rettitudine sarà salvo, chi procede per vie storte cadrà ad un tratto.
¹⁹ He who cultivates his land will have plenty of food, but from idle pursuits a man has his fill of poverty.	¹⁹ Chi lavora la sua terra avrà pane in abbondanza, chi si dà all'ozio sarà pieno di miseria.
²⁰ The trustworthy man will be richly blessed; he who is in haste to grow rich will not go unpunished.	²⁰ L'uomo fedele sarà colmo di lode, ma chi ha fretta d'arricchirsi non sarà senza colpa.
²¹ To show partiality is never good: for even a morsel of bread a man may do wrong.	²¹ Chi in giudizio ha riguardi personali non fa bene, è tale che per un tozzo di pane abbandona la verità.
²² The avaricious man is perturbed about his wealth, and he knows not when want will come upon him.	²² L'uomo che ha fretta d'arricchire e invidia gli altri non sa che all'improvviso gli piomberà addosso l'indigenza.
²³ He who rebukes a man gets more thanks in the end than one with a flattering tongue.	²³ Chi corregge un uomo gli sarà alla fine più accetto di chi lo inganna colle lusinghe della lingua.
²⁴ He who defrauds father or mother and calls it no sin, is a partner of the brigand.	²⁴ Chi ruba a suo padre e a sua madre, e dice che non è peccato, è compagno dell'omicida.
²⁵ The greedy man stirs up disputes, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.	²⁵ Chi si vanta e si gonfia, eccita contese, chi invece spera nel Signore otterrà salute.
²⁶ He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is safe.	²⁶ Chi confida nel suo cuore è uno stolto, chi invece procede con sapienza sarà salvo.
²⁷ He who gives to the poor suffers no want, but he who ignores them gets many a curse.	²⁷ Chi dona al povero non avrà mai bisogno, chi disprezza colui che si raccomanda soffrirà penuria.
²⁸ When the wicked gain pre-eminence, other men hide; but at their fall the just flourish.	²⁸ Quando s'innalzeranno gli empi, la gente andrà a nascondersi, quando quelli saranno spenti, si moltiplicheranno i giusti.
