NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
1 LORD, avenging God, avenging God, shine forth!1 Deus ultionum, Domine,
Deus ultionum, effulge.
2 Rise up, judge of the earth; give the proud what they deserve.2 Exaltare, qui iudicas terram,
redde retributionem superbis.
3 How long, LORD, shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked glory?3 Usquequo peccatores, Domine,
usquequo peccatores exsultabunt?
4 How long will they mouth haughty speeches, go on boasting, all these evildoers?4 Effabuntur et loquentur proterva,
gloriabuntur omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem. -
5 They crush your people, LORD, torment your very own.5 Populum tuum, Domine, humiliant
et hereditatem tuam vexant.
6 They kill the widow and alien; the fatherless they murder.6 Viduam et advenam interficiunt
et pupillos occidunt.
7 They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice."7 Et dixerunt: “ Non videbit Dominus,
nec intelleget Deus Iacob ”.
8 Understand, you stupid people! You fools, when will you be wise?8 Intellegite, insipientes in populo;
et stulti, quando sapietis?
9 Does the one who shaped the ear not hear? The one who formed the eye not see?9 Qui plantavit aurem, non audiet,
aut qui finxit oculum, non respiciet?
10 Does the one who guides nations not rebuke? The one who teaches humans not have knowledge?10 Qui corripit gentes, non arguet,
qui docet hominem scientiam?
11 The LORD does know human plans; they are only puffs of air.11 Dominus scit cogitationes hominum,
quoniam vanae sunt.
12 Happy those whom you guide, LORD, whom you teach by your instruction.12 Beatus homo, quem tu erudieris, Domine,
et de lege tua docueris eum,
13 You give them rest from evil days, while a pit is being dug for the wicked.13 ut mitiges ei a diebus malis,
donec fodiatur peccatori fovea.
14 You, LORD, will not forsake your people, nor abandon your very own.14 Quia non repellet Dominus plebem suam
et hereditatem suam non derelinquet.
15 Judgment shall again be just, and all the upright of heart will follow it.15 Quia ad iustitiam revertetur iudicium,
et sequentur illam omnes, qui recto sunt corde.
16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?16 Quis consurget mihi adversus malignantes,
aut quis stabit mecum adversus operantes iniquitatem?
17 If the LORD were not my help, I would long have been silent in the grave.17 Nisi quia Dominus adiuvit me,
paulo minus habitasset in loco silentii anima mea.
18 When I say, "My foot is slipping," your love, LORD, holds me up.18 Si dicebam: “ Motus est pes meus ”, misericordia tua, Domine, sustentabatme.
19 When cares increase within me, your comfort gives me joy.19 In multitudine sollicitudinum mearum in corde meo,
consolationes tuae laetificaverunt animam meam.
20 Can unjust judges be your allies, those who create burdens in the name of law,20 Numquid sociabitur tibi sedes iniquitatis,
quae fingit molestiam contra praeceptum?
21 Those who conspire against the just and condemn the innocent to death?21 Irruunt in animam iusti
et sanguinem innocentem condemnant.
22 No, the LORD is my secure height, my God, the rock where I find refuge,22 Et factus est mihi Dominus in praesidium,
et Deus meus in rupem refugii mei;
23 Who will turn back their evil upon them and destroy them for their wickedness. Surely the LORD our God will destroy them!23 et reddet illis iniquitatem ipsorum
et in malitia eorum disperdet eos,
24 disperdet illos Dominus Deus noster.
