1 A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our refuge through all generations.	1 - Laude-cantico di David. Chi dimora nell'aiuto dell'Altissimo, nella protezione del Dio del cielo albergherà.
2 Before the mountains were born, the earth and the world brought forth, from eternity to eternity you are God.	2 Dirà al Signore: «Il mio difensore se' tue il mio rifugio, il mio Dio nel quale spero!»
3 But humans you return to dust, saying, "Return, you mortals!"	3 Perchè egli ti libererà dal laccio de' cacciatori e da [ogni calamità].
4 A thousand years in your eyes are merely a yesterday,	4 Con le sue ali ti proteggerà, e sotto le sue penne sarai al sicuro.
5 you have brought them to their end; They disappear like sleep at dawn; they are like grass that dies.	5 D'uno scudo ti circonderà la sua fedeltà. Non temerai gli spaventi notturni,
6 It sprouts green in the morning; by evening it is dry and withered.	6 nè la freccia volante di giorno, non la peste vagolante nelle tenebre, nè l'assalto e il demonio meridiano.
7 Truly we are consumed by your anger, filled with terror by your wrath.	7 Mille cadranno al tuo fiancoe diecimila alla tua destra; ma a te [il male] non s'accosterà.
8 You have kept our faults before you, our hidden sins exposed to your sight.	8 Soltanto con gli occhi starai ad osservare, e la retribuzione degli empi vedrai.
9 Our life ebbs away under your wrath; our years end like a sigh.	9 Poichè [dicesti] : «Tu sei, o Signore, la mia speranza!» [e] l'Altissimo hai fatto tuo rifugio.
10 Seventy is the sum of our years, or eighty, if we are strong; Most of them are sorrow and toil; they pass quickly, we are all but gone.	10 Non ti verrà addosso il malannoe il flagello non s'accosterà alla tua tenda.
11 Who comprehends your terrible anger? Your wrath matches the fear it inspires.	11 Perchè agli angeli suoi ha dato ordini per te, che ti custodiscano in tutte le tue vie.
12 Teach us to count our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart.	12 Sulle mani ti porteranno, che tu non abbia a urtare nel sasso col tuo piede.
13 Relent, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants!	13 Sull'aspide e il basilisco cammineraie calpesterai il leone e il drago!
14 Fill us at daybreak with your love, that all our days we may sing for joy.	14 «Poichè ha sperato in me, lo libererò: lo proteggerò, perchè ha riconosciuto il mio nome.
15 Make us glad as many days as you humbled us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.	15 Griderà a me e io l'esaudirò, con lui son nella tribolazione, lo salverò e lo glorificherò.
16 Show your deeds to your servants, your glory to their children.	16 Di lunga vita lo sazierò, e gli farò vedere la mia salvezza».
17 May the favor of the Lord our God be ours. Prosper the work of our hands! Prosper the work of our hands!
