2 Rescue me from my enemies, my God; lift me out of reach of my foes.	2 Liberami dai nemici, mio Dio,difendimi dai miei aggressori.
3 Deliver me from evildoers; from the bloodthirsty save me.	3 Liberami da chi fa il male,salvami da chi sparge sangue.
4 They have set an ambush for my life; the powerful conspire against me. For no offense or misdeed of mine, LORD,	4 Ecco, insidiano la mia vita,contro di me congiurano i potenti.Non c’è delitto in me, non c’è peccato, Signore;
5 for no fault they hurry to take up arms. Come near and see my plight!	5 senza mia colpa accorrono e si schierano.Svégliati, vienimi incontro e guarda.
6 You, LORD of hosts, are the God of Israel! Awake! Punish all the nations. Have no mercy on these worthless traitors. Selah	6 Tu, Signore, Dio degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele,àlzati a punire tutte le genti;non avere pietà dei perfidi traditori.
7 Each evening they return, growling like dogs, prowling the city.	7 Ritornano a sera e ringhiano come cani,si aggirano per la città.
8 Their mouths pour out insult; sharp words are on their lips. They say: "Who is there to hear?"	8 Eccoli, la bava alla bocca;le loro labbra sono spade.Dicono: «Chi ci ascolta?».
9 You, LORD, laugh at them; you deride all the nations.	9 Ma tu, Signore, ridi di loro,ti fai beffe di tutte le genti.
10 My strength, for you I watch; you, God, are my fortress,	10 Io veglio per te, mia forza,perché Dio è la mia difesa.
11 my loving God.	11 Il mio Dio mi preceda con il suo amore;Dio mi farà guardare dall’alto i miei nemici.
12 May God go before me, and show me my fallen foes. Slay them, God, lest they deceive my people. Shake them by your power; Lord, our shield, bring them down.	12 Non ucciderli, perché il mio popolo non dimentichi;disperdili con la tua potenza e abbattili,Signore, nostro scudo.
13 For the sinful words of their mouths and lips let them be caught in their pride. For the lies they have told under oath	13 Peccato della loro bocca è la parola delle loro labbra;essi cadono nel laccio del loro orgoglio,per le bestemmie e le menzogne che pronunciano.
14 destroy them in anger, destroy till they are no more. Then people will know God rules over Jacob, yes, even to the ends of the earth. Selah	14 Annientali con furore,annientali e più non esistano,e sappiano che Dio governa in Giacobbe,sino ai confini della terra.
15 Each evening they return, growling like dogs, prowling the city.	15 Ritornano a sera e ringhiano come cani,si aggirano per la città;
16 They roam about as scavengers; if they are not filled, they howl.	16 ecco, vagano in cerca di cibo,ringhiano se non possono saziarsi.
17 But I shall sing of your strength, extol your love at dawn, For you are my fortress, my refuge in time of trouble.	17 Ma io canterò la tua forza,esalterò la tua fedeltà al mattino,perché sei stato mia difesa,mio rifugio nel giorno della mia angoscia.
18 My strength, your praise I will sing; you, God, are my fortress, my loving God.	18 O mia forza, a te voglio cantare,poiché tu sei, o Dio, la mia difesa,Dio della mia fedeltà.
