Job 42

1 Then Job answered the LORD and said:	1 Giobbe prese a dire al Signore:
2 I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be hindered.	2 «Comprendo che tu puoi tutto e che nessun progetto per te è impossibile.
3 I have dealt with great things that I do not understand; things too wonderful for me, which I cannot know.	3 Chi è colui che, da ignorante, può oscurare il tuo piano? Davvero ho esposto cose che non capisco, cose troppo meravigliose per me, che non comprendo.
	4 Ascoltami e io parlerò, io t’interrogherò e tu mi istruirai!
5 I had heard of you by word of mouth, but now my eye has seen you.	5 Io ti conoscevo solo per sentito dire, ma ora i miei occhi ti hanno veduto.
6 Therefore I disown what I have said, and repent in dust and ashes.	6 Perciò mi ricredo e mi pento sopra polvere e cenere».
7 And it came to pass after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, that the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "I am angry with you and with your two friends; for you have not spoken rightly concerning me, as has my servant Job.	7 Dopo che il Signore ebbe rivolto queste parole a Giobbe, disse a Elifaz di Teman: «La mia ira si è accesa contro di te e contro i tuoi due amici, perché non avete detto di me cose rette come il mio servo Giobbe.
8 Now, therefore, take seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up a holocaust for yourselves; and let my servant Job pray for you; for his prayer I will accept, not to punish you severely. For you have not spoken rightly concerning me, as has my servant Job."	8 Prendete dunque sette giovenchi e sette montoni e andate dal mio servo Giobbe e offriteli in olocausto per voi. Il mio servo Giobbe pregherà per voi e io, per riguardo a lui, non punirò la vostra stoltezza, perché non avete detto di me cose rette come il mio servo Giobbe».
9 Then Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, went and did as the LORD had commanded them. And the LORD accepted the intercession of Job.	9 Elifaz di Teman, Bildad di Suach e Sofar di Naamà andarono e fecero come aveva detto loro il Signore e il Signore ebbe riguardo di Giobbe.
10 Also, the LORD restored the prosperity of Job, after he had prayed for his friends; the LORD even gave to Job twice as much as he had before.	10 Il Signore ristabilì la sorte di Giobbe, dopo che egli ebbe pregato per i suoi amici. Infatti il Signore raddoppiò quanto Giobbe aveva posseduto.
11 Then all his brethren and his sisters came to him, and all his former acquaintances, and they dined with him in his house. They condoled with him and comforted him for all the evil which the LORD had brought upon him; and each one gave him a piece of money and a gold ring.	11 Tutti i suoi fratelli, le sue sorelle e i suoi conoscenti di prima vennero a trovarlo; banchettarono con lui in casa sua, condivisero il suo dolore e lo consolarono di tutto il male che il Signore aveva mandato su di lui, e ognuno gli regalò una somma di denaro e un anello d’oro.
12 Thus the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his earlier ones. For he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.	12 Il Signore benedisse il futuro di Giobbe più del suo passato. Così possedette quattordicimila pecore e seimila cammelli, mille paia di buoi e mille asine.
13 And he had seven sons and three daughters,	13 Ebbe anche sette figli e tre figlie.
14 of whom he called the first Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch.	14 Alla prima mise nome Colomba, alla seconda Cassia e alla terza Argentea.
15 In all the land no other women were as beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brethren.	15 In tutta la terra non si trovarono donne così belle come le figlie di Giobbe e il loro padre le mise a parte dell’eredità insieme con i loro fratelli.
16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; and he saw his children, his grandchildren, and even his great-grandchildren.	16 Dopo tutto questo, Giobbe visse ancora centoquarant’anni e vide figli e nipoti per quattro generazioni.
17 Then Job died, old and full of years.	17 Poi Giobbe morì, vecchio e sazio di giorni.
