1 When they had finished eating and drinking, the girl's parents wanted to retire. They brought the young man out of the dining room and led him into the bedroom.	1 Terminata la cena, decisero di andare a dormire. Accompagnarono il giovane e lo introdussero nella camera da letto.
2 At this point Tobiah, mindful of Raphael's instructions, took the fish's liver and heart from the bag which he had with him, and placed them on the embers for the incense.	2 Allora Tobia si ricordò delle parole di Raffaele: prese dal suo sacco il fegato e il cuore del pesce e li pose sul porta-brace dell'incenso.
3 The demon, repelled by the odor of the fish, fled into Upper Egypt; Raphael pursued him there and bound him hand and foot. Then Raphael returned immediately.	3 L'odore del pesce arrestò il demonio che fuggì nelle regioni dell'alto Egitto. Raffaele lo seguì sull'istante e ivi lo incatenò legandolo mani e piedi.
4 When the girl's parents left the bedroom and closed the door behind them, Tobiah arose from bed and said to his wife, "My love, get up. Let us pray and beg our Lord to have mercy on us and to grant us deliverance."	4 Quando gli altri uscirono, chiusero la porta della camera. Allora Tobia si alzò dal letto: "Alzati, sorella, preghiamo e supplichiamo il Signore perché abbia misericordia di noi e ci protegga".
5 She got up, and they started to pray and beg that deliverance might be theirs. He began with these words: "Blessed are you, O God of our fathers; praised be your name forever and ever. Let the heavens and all your creation praise you forever.	5 Essa si alzò e cominciarono a pregare e a supplicare, chiedendo a Dio che li proteggesse, e Tobia si mise a dire: "Benedetto sei tu, Dio dei nostri padri, e benedetto sia il tuo nome per tutte le generazioni venture! Ti benedicano i cieli e tutte le tue creature nei secoli!
6 You made Adam and you gave him his wife Eve to be his help and support; and from these two the human race descended. You said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone; let us make him a partner like himself.'	6 Tu hai creato Adamo e come aiuto e sostegno gli hai creato la moglie Eva; da loro due nacque il genere umano. Tu dicesti: "Non è bene che l'uomo resti solo, facciamogli un aiuto simile a lui!".
7 Now, Lord, you know that I take this wife of mine not because of lust, but for a noble purpose. Call down your mercy on me and on her, and allow us to live together to a happy old age."	7 Ora non per lussuria mi sposo con questa mia parente, ma con retta intenzione. Dégnati di aver misericordia di me e di lei, e di farci giungere insieme alla vecchiaia".
8 They said together, "Amen, amen,"	8 Poi dissero insieme: "Amen, amen".
9 and went to bed for the night. But Raguel got up and summoned his servants. With him they went out to dig a grave,	9 E dormirono per tutta la notte.
10 for he said, "I must do this, because if Tobiah should die, we would be subjected to ridicule and insult."	10 Ora Raguel, alzatosi, chiamò i servi ed andò con essi a scavare una fossa. Diceva, infatti: "Caso mai sia morto, non abbiamo a diventare oggetto di derisione e di insulto".
11 When they had finished digging the grave, Raguel went back into the house and called his wife,	11 Quando ebbero finito di scavare la fossa, Raguel ritornò in casa e, chiamata la moglie,
12 saying, "Send one of the maids in to see whether Tobiah is alive or dead, so that if necessary we may bury him without anyone's knowing about it."	12 le disse: "Manda in camera una delle serve per vedere se è vivo; perché se è morto, lo seppelliremo senza che nessuno lo sappia".
13 She sent the maid, who lit a lamp, opened the bedroom door, went in, and found them sound asleep together.	13 Mandarono avanti la serva ed accesa la lampada, aprirono la porta; entrata la serva, li trovò insieme profondamente addormentati.
14 The maid went out and told the girl's parents that Tobiah was alive, and that there was nothing wrong.	14 Quando uscì, essa riferì loro che era vivo e che non era successo nulla di male.
15 Then Raguel praised the God of heaven in these words: "Blessed are you, O God, with every holy and pure blessing! Let all your chosen ones praise you; let them bless you forever!	15 Allora benedissero il Dio del cielo dicendo: "Tu sei benedetto, o Dio, degno di ogni sincera benedizione. Ti benedicano per tutti i secoli!
16 Blessed are you, who have made me glad; what I feared did not happen. Rather you have dealt with us according to your great mercy.	16 Sei benedetto per la gioia che mi hai concesso, non è avvenuto ciò che si temeva, ma ci hai trattato secondo la tua grande misericordia.
17 Blessed are you, for you were merciful toward two only children. Grant them, Master, mercy and deliverance, and bring their lives to fulfillment with happiness and mercy."	17 Tu sei benedetto, perché hai avuto compassione di due figli unici. Sii misericordioso con essi, o Signore, e proteggili! Falli giungere al termine della loro vita nella gioia e nella grazia!".
18 Then he told his servants to fill in the grave before dawn.	18 Allora Raguel ordinò ai servi di riempire la fossa, prima che si facesse giorno.
19 He asked his wife to bake many loaves of bread; he himself went out to the herd and picked out two steers and four rams which he ordered to be slaughtered. So the servants began to prepare the feast.	19 Indi ordinò alla moglie di fare dei pani in abbondanza; poi andò al gregge e riportò due buoi e quattro montoni; li fece macellare e cominciarono così a preparare il banchetto.
20 He summoned Tobiah and made an oath in his presence, saying: "For fourteen days you shall not stir from here, but shall remain here eating and drinking with me; and you shall bring joy to my daughter's sorrowing spirit.	20 Poi, chiamato Tobia, gli disse: "Per quattordici giorni non ti muoverai di qui, ma ti fermerai qui a banchettare nella mia casa rendendo felice l'anima già tanto afflitta di mia figlia.
21 Take, to begin with, half of whatever I own when you go back in good health to your father; the other half will be yours when I and my wife die. Be of good cheer, my son! I am your father, and Edna is your mother; and we belong to you and to your beloved now and forever. So be happy, son!"	21 Prenditi sin d'ora la metà dei miei beni e ritorna sano e salvo dal padre tuo. L'altra metà sarà vostra quando io e mia moglie saremo morti. Coraggio, o figlio, io sono tuo padre e Edna è tua madre; siamo tuoi e di questa tua sorella da ora per sempre. Coraggio, figlio!".
