1 When the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame, she came to Jerusalem to test him with subtle questions, accompanied by a very numerous retinue and by camels bearing spices, much gold, and precious stones. She came to Solomon and questioned him on every subject in which she was interested.	1 Ora la regina di Saba sentì parlare della fama di Salomone e venne per mettere alla prova Salomone, con enigmi, a Gerusalemme, con un seguito grandioso, con cammelli che portavano aromi, oro in grande quantità e pietre preziose. Si presentò da Salomone e gli disse tutto ciò che aveva in mente.
2 Solomon explained to her everything she asked about, and there remained nothing hidden from Solomon that he could not explain to her.	2 Salomone le dilucidò tutte le sue questioni; non ci fu cosa oscura che egli non le spiegasse.
3 When the queen of Sheba witnessed Solomon's wisdom, the palace he had built,	3 Quando la regina di Saba ebbe visto la sapienza di Salomone, il palazzo che si era edificato,
4 the food at his table, the seating of his ministers, the attendance of his servants and their dress, his cupbearers and their dress, and the holocausts he offered in the house of the LORD, it took her breath away.	4 il cibo della sua mensa, la dimora dei suoi servitori, il suo servizio, il suo vestire, i suoi coppieri con i loro abiti e l’olocausto che offriva nel tempio di Jahvè, rimase senza respiro.

6 "Yet I did not believe the report until I came and saw with my own eyes. I have discovered that they did not tell me the half of your great wisdom; you have surpassed the stories I heard.	6 Tuttavia non ho voluto prestare fede alle cose che si dicevano; finché non sono! venuta in persona e i miei! ‘occhi non hanno visto. Ma neppure la metà mi era stata riferita della grandezza della tua sapienza! Tu sei ben superiore a quanto ho sentito dire.
7 Happy are your men, happy these servants of yours, who stand before you always and listen to your wisdom.	7 Felici le tue donne, felici questi tuoi servitori, i quali stanno di continuo al tuo cospetto e ascoltano la tua sapienza!
8 Blessed be the LORD, your God, who has been so pleased with you as to place you on his throne as king for the LORD, your God. Because your God has so loved Israel as to will to make it last forever, he has appointed you over them as king to administer right and justice."	8 Sia benedetto Jahvè tuo Dio, che ti ha voluto bene e ti ha posto sul suo trono, come re di Jahvè tuo Dio! Poiché il tuo Dio ama Israele per farlo sussistere per sempre, egli ti ha costituito loro re per esercitare il diritto e la giustizia».
9 Then she gave the king one hundred and twenty gold talents and a very large quantity of spices, as well as precious stones. There was no other spice like that which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.	9 Quindi essa donò al re centoventi talenti d’oro, aromi in abbondanza e pietre preziose. Non ci furono mai tanti aromi quanti ne diede la regina di Saba al re Salomone.
10 The servants of Huram and of Solomon who brought gold from Ophir also brought cabinet wood and precious stones.	10 Anche i servitori di Khiram e i servitori di Salomone, i quali avevano portato oro da Ofir, portarono legno di sandalo e pietre preziose.
11 With the cabinet wood the king made stairs for the temple of the LORD and the palace of the king; also lyres and harps for the chanters. The like of these had not been seen before in the land of Judah.	11 Il re si servì del legno di sandalo per il tempio di Jahvè e per la reggia; di più, costruì cetre e arpe per i cantori. Non si vide mai prima tanto legno di sandalo nel territorio di Giuda.
12 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba everything she desired and asked him for, more than she had brought to the king. Then she returned to her own country with her servants.	12 Il re Salomone concesse poi alla regina di Saba ogni favore che essa domandava, escludendo però quanto lei stessa aveva portato al re. Quindi essa prese la via del ritorno e con i suoi servitori si avviò verso la sua terra.
13 The gold that Solomon received each year weighed six hundred and sixty-six gold talents,	13 Il peso dell’oro, che giungeva a Salomone ogni anno, era di seicentosessantasei talenti d’oro,
14 in addition to what was collected from travelers and what the merchants brought. All the kings of Arabia also, and the governors of the country, brought gold and silver to Solomon.	14 oltre quello proveniente dalle tasse dei mercanti all’ingrosso e dal provento dei piccoli commercianti. Anche tutti i re di Arabia e i governatori del paese portavano oro e argento a Salomone.
15 Moreover, King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold, six hundred shekels of beaten gold going into each shield,	15 Il re Salomone fece anche duecento scudi d’oro battuto, applicando su ogni scudo seicento sicli d’oro battuto;
16 and three hundred bucklers of beaten gold, three hundred shekels of gold going into each buckler; these the king put in the hall of the Forest of Lebanon.	16 fece ancora trecento scudi leggeri d’oro battuto, applicando su ognuno trecento sicli d’oro. Il re lì pose nel palazzo della foresta del Libano.
17 King Solomon also made a large ivory throne which he overlaid with fine gold.	17 Il re fece costruire anche un grande trono d’avorio e lo rivestì di oro puro.
18 The throne had six steps; a footstool of gold was fastened to it, and there was an arm on each side of the seat, with two lions standing beside the arms.	18 Il trono aveva sei gradini e uno sgabello legati in oro; ai lati del sedile c’erano due braccioli, mentre due leoni stavano ai fianchi dei braccioli.
19 Twelve other lions also stood there, one on either side of each step. Nothing like this had ever been produced in any other kingdom.	19 Dodici leoni stavano sui sei gradini da una parte e dall’altra. In nessun regno fu mai eseguito un lavoro simile.
20 Furthermore, all of King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the utensils in the hall of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not considered of value in Solomon's time.	20 Tutte le coppe del re Salomone erano ugualmente d’oro e così tutte le suppellettili del palazzo della foresta del Libano erano d’oro puro. 21 For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram. Once every three years the fleet of Tarshish would return with a cargo of gold and silver, ivory, apes and monkeys.	21 Il re infatti aveva navi che insieme con i servitori di Khiram andavano a Tarsis. Ogni tre anni le navi di Tarsis ritornavano cariche d’oro, d’argento, d’avorio, di scimmie e di babbuini.
22 Thus King Solomon surpassed all the other kings of the earth in riches as well as in wisdom.	22 Il re Salomone fu più grande di tutti i re della terra in ricchezza e sapienza.
23 All the kings of the earth sought audience with Solomon, to hear from him the wisdom which God had put in his heart.	23 Tutti i re della terra desideravano far visita a Salomone per udire la sapienza che Dio gli aveva messo in cuore.
24 Year in and year out, each one would bring his tribute-silver and gold articles, garments, weapons, spices, horses and mules.	24 Ora ciascuno, Ogni anno, gli portava l’offerta: suppellettili d’argento e d’oro, vesti, armi, aromi, cavalli e muli.
25 Solomon also had four thousand stalls of horses, chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he assigned to the chariot cities and to the king in Jerusalem.	25 Salomone aveva quattromila mute; di‘cavalli e carri e dodicimila cavalieri, con stazione nelle città dei carri e vicino al re, a Gerusalemme;
26 He was ruler over all the kings from the River to the land of the Philistines and down to the border of Egypt.	26 Egli dominava su tutti i re dal fiume Eufrate fino al paese dei Filistei e ai confini d’Egitto,
27 The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, while cedars became as numerous as the sycamores of the foothills.	27 Il re fece sì che l’argento a Gerusalemme fosse come i sassi e i cedri come i sicomori tanto abbondanti nella pianura.
28 Horses were imported for Solomon from Egypt and from all the lands.	28 Si importavano cavalli per Salomone dal Muzri e da tutti i paesi.
29 The rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are written, as is well known, in the acts of Nathan the prophet, in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer which concern Jeroboam, son of Nebat.	29 Il resto degli atti di Salomone, i primi e gli ultimi, forse non sono cose scritte negli Atti di Natan il profeta, nella profezia di Akhia da Silo e nelle visioni di Jedi il veggente, a proposito di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat?
30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.	30 Salomone regnò quarant’anni a Gerusalemme su tutto Israele;
31 He rested with his ancestors; he was buried in his father's City of David, and his son Rehoboam succeeded him as king.	31 poi si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di David suo padre. Roboamo suo figlio regnò al suo posto.
